Before setting the fabric on the printer
Before setting the fabric, be sure to confirm the Ditch for penetrated ink. If ink is there, wipe
them with a waste cloth. (see more details
2.14 )
Adjusting the head height according to the fablic [HEAD HEIGHT]
It is necessary to adjust the head height according to the thickness of the fabric.
If the height of the head is inappropriate to the thickness of the fabric, the printer cannot work
properly.
More important, operating without adjusting the head height is very dangerous: it can dam-
age the fabric and the printer.
When a new fabric different in thickness from the current fabric is to be used, be sure to make
proper adjustment of the head height. [HEAD HEIGHT] is a function to set the distance be-
tween the fabric surface and head to 3mm.
• Adjust the head height before setting the fabric on the printer.
If an attempt is made to adjust the head height with the fabric kept set on the
platen, the fabric gets caught on the carriage during “carriage out” operation,
causing damage to the head.
• If you set the head height to 1.2mm (minimum value) from the platen surface,
note the following points:
• Remove the fabric pressers. If they are used, the head knocks up
against the fabric retainers, which may cause damage to the printer.
• Use fabrics without wrinkle or uneven surface. If a fabric with wrinkle or
uneven surface is used, the head may rub or catch the fabric to push it
to a position resulting in fabric jam.
• Except for cases when using film or other flat thin fabric, set the head
height to 3mm.
• Before performing [CARRIAGEout], be sure to move down the clamp lever
on the front side of this printer.
Performing [CARRIAGEout] with the clamp lever moved up may cause the
head to hit the pinch roller damaging them.
STEPS:
1. Move down the clamp lever on the front face on
the printer.
