Ditch for penetrated ink and platen boards
Printing on a coarse-textured fablic may cause ink to penetrate the fabric.
If the fabric runs out in this condition, it may be stained by the ink on the platen.
The ditch for penetrated ink is provided to avoid this trouble.
• For printing to a fabric without ink penetration, attach the platen boards so
that the ditch for penetrated ink be covered by them.
• Set the projection on the back of the platen board to the projection at
the edge of the ditch for penetrated ink.
• The width of the ditch for penetrated ink can be changed in three steps de-
pending on the way of attachment.

• For attachment of the platen boards, refer to page 1.22.
• If the platen board is not used, remove all the platen boards from the platen.
If you place a platen board outside the fabric retainer, not the position of the
fabric retainer but the position of the platen board is detected at the time of
fabric detection.
