1. Determine Charging Options for Battery: Transformer OR Solar
NEVER USE TRANSFORMER AND SOLAR PANEL(S) AT THE SAME TIME!
It will damage the control board!
IMPORTANT:
•The12voltautomotive/marinebatterymustbechargedbyeitherconnectingthetransformer
(included) or solar panel kit to the control board.
•Thetransformerisdesignedforindooruse.Ifthetransformercanbepluggedonlyintoan
outside electrical outlet, a weatherproof cover/housing (available at local electrical supply
stores) must be used.
•Ifyourgateismorethan1000ft.fromanACpowersource,youwillneedtouseatleast5
watts solar charging power to charge the battery. Refer to the Solar Panel and Gate Activity
chart below.
•AlllowvoltagewireusedwiththeMightyMuleGateOpenermustbe16gauge,dual
conductor, stranded, direct burial wire. Do not run more than 1000 ft. of wire.

when using from 5 to 30 watts of solar charging power. The gures shown are for winter (minimum sunlight)
and do not account for the use of
any accessory items.
Accessories connected to your
system will draw additional power from
the battery and will require additional solar
panels.
NOTE: UP to 250 ft. of 16 gauge dual
conductor, stranded, direct burial wire may
be used to allow installation of solar panels in
direct sunlight.
