Safety & Operating Instructions

Common Engine Answers
Shut down the Engine (The flywheel will continue to rotate for a while after the engine is shut off), Wait 5 minutes for the
engine to cool and all moving parts to come to a complete stop, remove spark plug wire and disconnect the negative
battery cable before moving or working on the chipper.
Oil Recommendations:
To optimize engine performance, use Warranty Certified Briggs & Stratton Small Engine Oil. Briggs & Stratton offers a
Synthetic 5W30 oil that provides the best protection at all temperatures as well as improved starting with less oil consumption.
For optimum performance, you should change the oil in your small engine after the first five hours of use and then annually, or
every 50 hours of use (whichever comes first).
Use Briggs & Stratton SAE 30W Oil above 40*F for all of our engines.
Check oil level regularly.
Air-cooled engines burn about an ounce of oil per cylinder, per hour.
Fill to mark on dipstick. DO NOT OVERFILL.

Fuel Recommendations:
Fuel must meet these requirements:
Clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline.
A minimum of 87 octane/87 AKI (91 RON). High altitude use, see below.
Gasoline with up to 10% ethanol (gasohol) is acceptable
NOTICE: Do not use unapproved gasolines, such as E15 and E85. Do not mix oil in gasoline or modify the engine to run on
alternate fuels. Use of unapproved fuels will damage the engine components, which will not be covered under warranty.
