Warning and Safety instructions Technical safety To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the machine please read these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. They contain important information on its safety, installation, use and maintenance. Keep these operating instructions in a safe place and ensure that new users are familiar with the content. Pass them on to any future owner of the machine.
Warning and Safety instructions The machine is built in accordance with current safety requirements. Unauthorised repairs could result in unforeseen dangers for the user, for which the manufacturer cannot accept liability. Repairs should only be undertaken by a Miele approved technician. Ensure current is not supplied to the machine until after maintenance or repair work has been carried out.
Warning and Safety instructions Before using the machine for the first time, check that the transit fittings at the rear of the machine have been removed (see section on "Installation"). During spinning, a transit fitting which is still in place may result in damage to both the machine and adjacent furniture or appliances. Turn off the stopcock if the machine is to be left for any length of time (e.g. holiday), especially if there is no floor drain (gully) in the immediate vicinity. Flooding danger.
Warning and Safety instructions To prevent the risk of fire the following textiles must not be dried in this machine: – fabrics which contain a large proportion of rubber, foam rubber or rubber like materials. – items which contain padding or fillings (e.g. pillows, jackets). – items which have been treated with inflammable cleaning agents. – items which have been splashed with hair lacquer, hair spray, nail varnish remover or similar substances.
Guide to the machine Control panel a Start/Stop button For starting the programme selected and cancelling a programme once it has started. b Display with – , OK, + and Load/Detergent buttons See the following page for more details. c m button For selecting delay start and setting the time of day. d PC / Optical interface This is used by service technicians to run diagnostic checks on your machine and can also be used to update programming data in the future.
Guide to the machine Display When a programme is selected the display can be used to select and change programme parameters. With the programme selector at the Further programmes position, you can select the following programmes via the display: Dark garments, Shirts, Denim, Sportswear, Outerwear, Proofing, Curtains, Separate rinse and Starch. Delay start and the soak time are selected via the display. The display shows the duration of the programmes and the current time of day.
Before using for the first time Setting the language Before using the machine for the first time ensure that it is correctly installed and connected. See "Installation and connection". Also check that the drain filter is securely tightened to prevent the risk of water leaks during use. The washer-dryer has a sensor which measures the amount of laundry in the drum. This determines the amount of detergent required.
Before using for the first time Reminder to remove transport struts To avoid the risk of damage, the transport struts must be removed before the washer-dryer is used for the first time. See "Installation and connection" for instructions on how to do this. i Remove transport struts OK ^ After removing the transport struts (if this has not already been done by your fitter) press the OK button. Running your first programme Your washer-dryer is now ready for the first programme to be run.
Washing and drying environmentally Energy and water consumption Detergent – Water consumption and energy usage are determined by the size of the load. To make the most out of your machine, load the maximum dry load for the programme you are using. – Do not exceed the amounts of detergent recommended by the manufacturer on the packaging. – Use the Automatic and Express programmes for small loads.
WASHING Brief instructions The headings numbered A, B, C, . . . show the operating sequence and can be used as brief instructions. Separate washing A Sort the laundry ^ Sort the laundry by colour and by care label. Most garments have a textile care label in the collar or side seam. Dark textiles often contain excess dye and should be washed separately several times before being included in a mixed load. Always wash whites and coloureds separately.
WASHING B Switch the machine on The interior drum lighting will come on. C Select a programme ^ Use the - or + button to highlight the programme you wish to select and confirm your selection by pressing the OK button. Wait until the display switches to show the menu for the programme selected. 40°C Duration: 900 rpm 1:00 h or Denim 40°C ^ Select the programme you want. The programme selected will appear in the display.
WASHING ^ You can select any extras options with the extra option buttons. D Load the drum ^ Press the Door button to open the drum door. The load size indicator display will appear. Load <25% B ^ Each press of the top right hand button selects the extra option in the following order: Pre-wash or Soak or no option is selected. Not all the extra options are suitable for use with every wash programme. You can only select extra options which are compatible with the basic programme being used.
WASHING E Add detergent The load size indicator display will be replaced with the detergent percentage display. – High water consumption (an additional rinse cycle will automatically switch in). – A burden to the environment. Detergent 75% A 40% Add slightly less than half the amount recommended . . . 50% Add half the amount recommended . . . 60% Add slightly more than half the amount recommended . . . 75% Add three quarters of the amount recommended . . .
WASHING F Start the programme ^ Press the flashing Start/Stop button. The estimated programme duration will count down in the display in one minute steps. During the first 10 minutes the machine measures how much water is being absorbed by the laundry. The programme duration may be longer or shorter depending on this absorbency rate. The programme sequence is also shown in the display. The washer-dryer shows you when each section of the programme is reached.
WASHING Extra options Short You can use the Extra option buttons to augment the basic wash programmes. Pre-wash For laundry with large amounts of dirt (e.g. dust, sand). Soak For heavily soiled and stained items with protein stains (e.g. blood, fats and oils, cocoa). A length of time of between 30 minutes and 6 hours can be chosen, in 30 minute periods for the "Soak" process. ^ After selecting a programme, press the Pre-wash/Soak button repeatedly until the Soak indicator light comes on.
WASHING Adding or removing laundry after a programme has started Laundry can be added or removed after the programme has started when using the following programmes: – Cottons – Minimum iron – Automatic – Express – Starch The door cannot be opened, if: – the suds temperature is above a certain temperature (see "Settings menu - Door release"). – the water is above a certain level (e.g. when the Water plus extra option has been selected). – the programme has reached the Final spin stage.
WASHING Spinning To omit the final spin (Rinse hold) The maximum final spin speed depends on the programme chosen. ^ Select the Rinse hold setting. The laundry will not be spun and will remain suspended in the final rinse water. This reduces creasing if the laundry is not going to be removed from the drum immediately after the end of the programme.
WASHING Programme chart Cottons 30°C to 95°C 9876 max. 5.0 kg Fabric type Cottons, linens or cotton mix fabrics. WASHING Silks / cold to 30°C c max. 1.0 kg Fabric type Silks and other handwashable fabrics with no wool content, e.g. satin, lace and silk. Note Place socks, tights, bras etc. in a washing bag. Extra option Water plus Detergent Liquid detergent for delicates. Woollens / cold to 40°C ac max. 2.0 kg Fabric type Machine-washable or hand-washable wool or wool blend fabrics. If the care label does not specify a temperature, wash using the cold setting.
WASHING Automatic cold to 40°C 7621 max. 2.5 kg Fabric type Mixed loads of garments suitable for the Cottons and Minimum iron programmes. Sort according to colour. WASHING Proofing 40°C max. 3.0 kg Item For treating microfibre fabrics, skiwear, fine, closeweave cotton garments (poplin) or tablecloths to provide a water and dirt resistant finish. Notes – The items should be freshly washed and spun or dried before proofing. – For best results, the items should be heat-treated afterwards, either in a tumble dryer or by ironing.

WASHING This washer-dryer has fully electronic controls with automatic load recognition. It takes in the right amount of water required for the programme depending on the amount of laundry and its absorbency rate. This means that programme cycles and durations can vary. The programme sequences outlined in the chart are based on the basic programme with a full load. Extra options which can be selected have not been taken into account. The display shows the stage the programme has reached.

WASHING The right amount to dispense will depend on the following: – The soiling level of the laundry Lightly soiled No visible dirt or stains. Normally soiled Visibly dirty and/or just a few slight stains. Heavily soiled Stains and soiling clearly visible. – The water hardness level. Check with your local water supplier if you do not know the hardness level in your area. – The quantity of the laundry (add the recommended amount of detergent).
WASHING Fabric conditioners or liquid starch Fabric conditioners make garments soft to handle and help prevent static cling when tumble drying. formulations or viscous liquid starch to the § compartment as it will clog up. Adding fabric conditioner separately Starch stiffens and gives body to items of laundry, e.g. shirts, tablecloths and bed linen. ^ Add fabric conditioner to compartment §. ^ Dispense according to the amount specified on the packaging.
DRYING Separate drying The separate drying programme must be used if the load in the wash programme is greater than the maximum load permitted for drying, or if you only want to dry part of the load that was washed. ^ Before drying check the drying symbol on the care label.
DRYING A Sort the laundry ^ Sort the laundry according to type of fibre / weave and the residual moisture content. This will help achieve an even drying result. The Washing indicator light must not be lit up as this would mean that the corresponding washing programme would begin before the drying process. B Switch the machine on 900 rpm The interior drum lighting will come on. C Select a programme Normal ^ Turn the selector to the drying programme you require.
DRYING D Load the drum ^ Open the drum door. ^ Load the laundry loosely into the drum. Do not overload the drum. See the "Programme chart" in the "Drying" section for recommended loads for each programme. Overloading can cause unnecessary wear and tear to the laundry and give a disappointing drying result. sequence and the drying level reached will also be shown in the display. The drum lighting switches off once the programme has started.
DRYING Extra option Low temperature The temperature is reduced during the drying programme. For all delicate or minimum iron fabrics with the r symbol on the care label (e.g. acrylic garments). With the exception of the Express programme, the thermospin is not carried out when the Low temperature extra option has been selected. Because the temperature is reduced when the Low temperature extra option has been selected, the programme duration is longer. The Low temperature extra only applies to drying.

Note This programme is for "loosening" up fabrics. They are not completely dried in this programme. Remove garments immediately at the end of the programme. Woollens max. 1.0 kg* 3 minutes Fabric type Woollen or wool blend fabrics. Note This programme only fluffs up woollen garments. They are not dried completely by this programme.

DRYING Smoothing max. 2.5 kg* 8 minutes Fabric type Cotton and linen fabrics. Minimum iron items made of mixed fibres, cottons or synthetics, e.g. trousers, jackets, shirts. Note Smooths out creasing caused during the spin cycle in the wash programme. Fabrics are not completely dried in this programme. Remove garments as soon as the programme has finished and leave to finish drying at room temperature. Timed drying - Warm air max. 2.
WASHING AND DRYING Washing and drying in a continuous sequence Where the amount of laundry to be washed and dried in one programme does not exceed the maximum weight permitted for the drying programme, washing and drying in one continuous sequence is recommended. When washing and drying in a continuous sequence the laundry is spun at max. 1200 rpm at the end of the wash cycle to prevent it sticking to the drum. ^ Select the drying level or drying time you require.
WASHING AND DRYING D Load the drum ^ Open the drum door and load the laundry loosely in the drum. Follow the load size indicator and do not overload. Do not use detergent dispensing aids, e.g. plastic dispenser balls, for washing followed immediately by the drying programme. These dispensers can melt during the drying programme and cause damage to the machine and the laundry. E Close the drum door F Add detergent Follow the detergent percentage display. G Start the programme ^ Press the Start/Stop button.
After each washing or drying programme ^ Open the drum door fully. ,Warning, the metal cap located on the inside of the door glass is very hot after drying. Do not touch it. Danger of burning! ^ Close the door. Otherwise there is the danger of objects being placed inadvertently in the drum. If these remained unnoticed and were washed or dried in the next load, they could damage the laundry. ^ Remove the laundry.
Changing the programme sequence Cancelling a programme Interrupting a programme You can cancel a programme at any time after it has started. ^ Switch the machine off with the I-On/0-Off button. ^ Press the Start/Stop button briefly or turn the programme selector to Stop. To continue with the same programme: ... During washing: The suds will be pumped away and the washing programme is cancelled. ... During drying: The garments will be cooled down before the door can be opened.
Changing the programme sequence Selecting or deselecting a drying programme You can select or deselect the drying function during a washing programme if this is permitted for the particular programme. Changing extra options It is possibe to select or deselect the Short and Water plus extra options up to 5 minutes after the washing programme has started. The buzzer can be switched on or off at any time. Please note that no changes are possible if programme locking has been activated.
Delay start With delay start you can choose when you want the programme to end. The start of a programme can be delayed from 30 minutes up to a maximum of 24 hours, allowing you to make use of night-time economy electricity rates, for example. The current time of day needs to have been set for delay start to work correctly. To begin Delay start ^ Press the Start/Stop button. 30°C 900 rpm Start in: The display will show when the programme will be started in hours and minutes.
Cleaning and care ,Disconnect the machine from the Extra cleaning electricity supply by switching off at the wall socket and withdrawing the plug before any cleaning and maintenance work. Carry out a hot wash (70°C or above) with powder detergent approx. every 6 weeks to help prevent deposits building up in the machine. These can occur when washing is mainly done at low temperatures, and also lead to unpleasant smells.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the detergent dispenser drawer housing ^ Clean the siphon. 1. Remove the siphon from compartment § and rinse under warm running water. Clean the siphon tube in the same way. 2. Replace the siphon. ^ Use a bottle brush to remove detergent residues and limescale from the jets inside the detergent dispenser drawer housing. If starching frequently, thoroughly clean the siphon and siphon tube regularly. A build-up of starch will cause them to get clogged.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the porthole glass ^ From time to time you should also clean ... ^ First turn off the stopcock and then unscrew the threaded union connecting the free end of the inlet hose to the stopcock. – the door glass on the inside using a mild detergent or soap and water. – the metal cap on the inside of the door glass with a suitable proprietary stainless steel cleaning agent following the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. ^ Wipe dry using a soft cloth.
Problem solving guide What to do, if . . . With the help of the following notes, minor faults in the performance of the appliance, some of which may result from incorrect operation, can be put right without contacting the Service Department. ,Repair work to electrical appliances should only be carried out by a suitably qualified person in accordance with local and national safety regulations. Repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous.

Problem solving guide Opening the drum door in the event of a blocked drain outlet and/or power failure ^ Switch the machine off. Drain the machine If the drain outlet is blocked, (up to 25 litres) of water will be retained in the machine. ,Caution: if laundry has been washed at a high temperature, water draining out of the machine will still be hot. Danger of scalding! ^ Remove the stopper. ^ Once the flow of water ceases, replace the stopper in the end of the hose.
Problem solving guide Cleaning the drain filter There is a lever behind the detergent drawer fascia panel. ^ Unscrew the drain filter completely and then clean it thoroughly. ^ Remove the lever. The drain filter access flap is visible when the drum door is open. ^ Check that the impeller can turn easily. Remove any foreign objects (e.g. buttons, coins, etc.) and drain. Clean the drain filter housing. ^ Use the lever to open the access flap. ^ Put the drain filter back in place and secure.
Problem solving guide Changing the lamp for the drum lighting The machine will still operate with no lamp in place or if the lighting is faulty. ^ Remove the yellow lever from behind the detergent drawer facia panel. ^ Switch the machine on and open the drum door. ^ Now disconnect the machine from the electricity supply, see "Warning and Safety instructions". ^ Press the two prongs to separate the plastic holder 1 from the protective cover 2. ^ Remove the faulty lamp from the plastic holder.
After sales service In the event of any faults which you cannot remedy yourself, please contact: – your Miele dealer, or – the Miele Service Department (see back cover for contact details). When contacting the Service Department, please quote the model and serial number of your appliance, both of which are shown on the data plate visible above the door glass when the door is open.

Installation and connection Installation surface Installing the washer-dryer A concrete floor is the most suitable installation surface, being far less prone to vibration during the spin cycle than wooden floorboards or a carpeted surface. Please note: Please note the following points: ^ The machine must be level and securely positioned. ^ To avoid vibrations during spinning, the machine should not be installed on soft floor coverings. ^ Do not lift the machine by the door.
Installation and connection ^ Using the spanner supplied turn the left-hand transit bar 90°, then ^ Turn the right-hand transit bar 90°, then ^ withdraw the transit bar. ^ withdraw the transit bar.
Installation and connection ^ Fit the covers on to the two holes. Then plug the holes as shown with the caps. ,The machine must not be moved without the transit bars in place. Store them in a safe place for future use. They must be re-fitted if the machine is to be moved again (e.g. when moving house). ^ Using the spanner supplied turn counter nut 2 in a clockwise direction. Then turn counter nut 2 together with foot 1 to unscrew. ^ Use a spirit level to check the machine is standing level.
Installation and connection Building under a continous worktop / in a kitchen run N = Niche height (820-930 mm) This machine is specially designed for installation under a continuous worktop run in a fitted kitchen. It is supplied with a cover plate instead of a machine lid. The cover plate is necessary to ensure electrical safety and must not be removed. The machine must not be used without the front panel in place.
Installation and connection Matching the fascia panel to the height of adjacent drawer fronts Spacer bars The fascia panel can be aligned to neighbouring drawer fronts by adjusting the spacer bars. ^ Using a socket spanner, turn clockwise or anti-clockwise until the required height is reached. If necessary individual bars can be removed or more added. ^ To do this, use the socket spanner to loosen the nuts. An adapter kit consisting of spacer bars and longer screws can be ordered as an optional accessory.
Installation and connection Fitting the front panel Fitting the front panel The machine front can be fitted with a door panel to match other kitchen units. ^ Open the door. The system consists of three main components: 1) the inlet hose 2) the electronic unit and the machine housing 3) the drain hose 1) Inlet hose – The inlet hose is tested to withstand pressure of more than 14,000 kPa. – It has a protective sleeve which is made from metal to protect the hose from damage.
Installation and connection Connection to the water supply The machine should be connected to a mains water supply in accordance with local and national safety regulations. The German authorities do not require it to have a non-return valve as the washer-dryer has been designed to comply with DIN regulations. The machine is designed to operate with a flow pressure of between 100 kPa and 1,000 kPa. If it is higher than 1,000 kPa it is essential to fit a reducer valve.

Settings menu J for changing standard settings The Settings menu is used to alter the machine's electronics to suit changing requirements. Settings can be altered at any time.
Settings menu J Language J To open the Settings menu A Switch on the machine. The main menu will appear. 15:03 The display can be set via the Language sub-menu to appear in one of several different languages. The flag after the word Language acts as a guide to prevent a language which will not be understood from being set. Select programme B After a few seconds an additional line will appear in the display. 15:03 A tick will appear beside the language to show that it has been set.
Settings menu J Time of day Y You first have to decide whether you want the time to show in the display. Then you have to select either a 24 hour or 12 hour clock. Water plus T This setting is used to select the water intake setting for the Water plus extra option. Then set the current time of day.
Settings menu J Gentle action U Activating gentle action reduces the drum action and is suitable for washing slightly soiled items more gently. It should be activated for garments with a single bar under the care label and for articles which feel too hard after they have been dried. Gentle action can be activated for the Cottons and the Minimum iron programmes. If Gentle action has been activated the wash rhythm will be gentle in all Cottons and Minimum iron programmes.
Settings menu J Distribution controller The maximum final spin speed is limited to prevent the laundry sticking to the drum. (This setting is only available when washing and drying in a continuous sequence). There are 4 different options: 1200 rpm (factory default setting) 1100 rpm 1000 rpm 900 rpm. A tick will appear beside the option to show that it has been set. 80 Alter time The machine is designed to dry effectively using as little energy as possible.
Settings menu J Lock X ^ After the last number has been entered, press the OK button. The system lock prevents your machine being used without your knowledge. When the system lock has been activated, you have to enter a code after switching the machine on. Otherwise the machine cannot be operated. To activate the lock Yes 1 2 5 No Confirm code ^ Confirm the code with the OK button or if you want to correct a mistake, press the – button.
Settings menu J Temperature S You can choose for the temperature to be displayed as °C/Celsius or °F/Fahrenheit. A tick will appear beside the option to show that it has been set. ^ Select the option you want and confirm your selection. Buzzer O When the buzzer function has been activated, an audible tone sounds at the end of a programme or when Rinse hold is reached. Keypad tones P An audible tone sounds each time a button is pressed. The machine is delivered with the keypad tone switched off.
Settings menu J Standby Q To save energy, the display goes out after 10 minutes and the indicator light for the Start/Stop button will start flashing slowly. There are two options: On Memory V If an extra option has been selected for a programme, or the recommended spin speed has been altered, the machine will store the changes in memory at the start of a programme. Standby is activated: When this programme is chosen again these settings will appear in the display.
