Warning and Safety instructions This appliance complies with all relevant local and national safety requirements. Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and damage to property. To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the appliance, please read these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. They contain important information on the safety, installation, use and maintenance of the appliance.
Warning and Safety instructions Technical safety ~ Before installation, check the rangehood for visible signs of damage. Do not install and use a damaged appliance. A damaged appliance is dangerous. ~ Before connecting the appliance to the mains supply, make sure that the voltage and frequency details given on the data plate correspond to the on-site electricity supply, otherwise the appliance could be damaged. Consult a qualified electrician if in any doubt.
Warning and Safety instructions ~ During installation, maintenance and repair work, the appliance must be disconnected from the mains electricity supply. It is only completely isolated from the electricity supply when: – the mains fuse is disconnected, – the screw-out fuse is removed (in countries where this is applicable). ~ This rangehood must not be installed and operated in mobile installations (e.g. on a ship).
Warning and Safety instructions ~ Do not use the rangehood without the filters in place. This way you will avoid the risk of grease and dirt getting into the appliance and hindering its smooth operation. ~ The filters should be regularly cleaned or changed as appropriate. Saturated filters are a fire hazard. See "Cleaning and care". ~ The rangehood can get very hot during cooking due to heat rising from the cooktop. Do not touch the housing or the grease filters until the rangehood has cooled down.

Description of the functions The rangehood works in recirculation mode: The air is drawn in and cleaned first by the grease filters and then by 4 charcoal filters. The cleaned air is then recirculated back into the kitchen through grilles in the top of the rangehood. Before using the rangehood for the first time, ensure that the charcoal filters are in place. See "Cleaning and care".
Miele|home Con|ctivity This rangehood is communication enabled. – When the cooktop is switched on, the cooktop lighting and the rangehood fan also switch on. – During cooking the rangehood automatically sets the fan's power level according to the number of cooking zones in operation and their power levels. – After switching the cooktop off, the fan and the cooktop lighting will switch off automatically after a period of time.
Operation To switch the fan on s ^ Touch the On/Off sensor s. The fan will come on at power setting 2. The On/Off sensor s symbol and the 2 will light up. To select a power setting Depending on the intensity of the cooking vapours, settings 1 to 3 are usually sufficient for normal cooking. ^ Select the setting you require by touching the 1, 2 or 3 sensors. Intensive setting ^ For short periods of cooking food with intensive vapours and a strong aroma, e.g.
Operation Run-on option "5m15" Cooktop lighting n It is advisable to leave the fan running for a few minutes after cooking has finished to neutralise any lingering odours in the air. The cooktop lighting can be switched on and off independently of the fan. The fan can be set to switch off automatically after either 5 or 15 minutes. ^ Touch the cooktop lighting sensor n briefly.
Operation Operating hours counter l| To alter the operating time: The number of hours the appliance has been in operation is stored in memory. ^ Press the On/Off sensor s to switch the fan off. The operating hours counter tells you when the grease filters or charcoal filters need to be cleaned or replaced. ^ Touch the Run-on sensorm and the Grease filter sensor l at the same time.
Operation One or more of the 1 to 4 sensors will flash. Operating hours counter for the charcoal filters The number of flashing sensors indicates the percentage of the operating time which has already been used up. On delivery, the operating hours counter for the charcoal filters is switched off. Sensor 1 Sensors 1 and 2 Sensors 1 to 3 Sensors 1 to 4 = 25 % = 50 % = 75 % = 100 % ^ When you take your finger off the Grease filter sensor l, the current fan setting will appear.
Operation ^ Confirm the selection by pressing the Charcoal filter sensor |. All the lamps will go out. If you do not confirm your selection within 4 minutes, the rangehood will automatically revert to the original setting. Checking the operating hours counter for the charcoal filters To check the percentage of time set already used: ^ Press the On/Off sensor s to switch the fan on. ^ Touch and keep your finger on the Charcoal filter sensor |. One or more of the 1 to 4 sensors will flash.
Cleaning and care ,Before any cleaning or maintenance work is carried out, disconnect the rangehood from the mains supply. Ensure that – the mains fuse is withdrawn, or – the screw-out fuse is removed (in countries where this is applicable). ,Exercise caution when changing halogen lamps. They get very hot during use, and remain hot for some time after being switched off. Do not touch the surface directly when changing a lamp, as grease particles from your fingers will adhere to the surface and damage it.
Cleaning and care Grease filters Cleaning the grease filters by hand The grease filters should be cleaned at the latest when the Grease filter sensor l lights up. ^ Clean the filters with a soft nylon brush in a mild solution of hot water and a little washing-up liquid. Do not use undiluted washing up liquid. The grease filters should be cleaned regularly (at least every 3-4 weeks) to avoid a built-up of grease as this will make cleaning difficult. ,An oversaturated filter is a fire hazard.
Cleaning and care ^ When removing the filters for cleaning, also clean off any residues of oil or fat from the now accessible areas of the housing to prevent the risk of these catching fire. ^ Replace the grease filters. Resetting the operating hours counter for the grease filters After cleaning, the operating hours counter needs to be reset. ^ Whilst the fan is switched on, touch the Grease filter sensor l for approx. 3 seconds until only the 1 is flashing. The Grease filter sensor l will go out.
Cleaning and care Fitting and replacing the charcoal filters The rangehood uses four charcoal filters in addition to the grease filters. The charcoal filters absorb normal kitchen odours and are fitted in the canopy below the air outlet grilles. Replacement charcoal filters can be obtained from your Chartered Agent or Miele or via the internet at www.miele-shop.com (depending on country). See back cover for contact details, and "Technical data" for type and reference number.
Cleaning and care Always replace the charcoal filters immediately if – the Charcoal filter sensor | lights up or – they are no longer effective in absorbing kitchen odours. They should, however, be replaced at least every 2 years. Used charcoal filters can be disposed of with the normal household waste. Resetting the operating hours counter for the charcoal filters After cleaning, the operating hours counter needs to be reset. ^ Whilst the fan is switched on, touch the Charcoal filter sensor l for approx.
Cleaning and care Changing a halogen lamp ^ Before any cleaning or maintenance work, disconnect the rangehood from the mains supply. Ensure that – it is switched off at the isolator, or – the screw-out fuse is removed (in countries where this is applicable). ,Exercise caution when changing halogen lamps. They get very hot during use and remain hot for some time after being switched off. Let them cool down before you change them. ^ To access the halogen lamp, push the lamp cover gently upwards.

Appliance dimensions – When deciding on the safety distance between the cooktop and rangehood, please note that a distance of 650 mm above electric cooktops may be preferable to give more working space under the rangehood. – Account should also be taken of the height of the person who will be using the rangehood most often. They should have sufficient space to work comfortably at the cooktop, and be able to reach the rangehood controls with ease.
