Warning and Safety instructions To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the machine please read these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. They contain important information on its safety, installation, use and maintenance. Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that new users are familiar with the content. Pass them on to any future owner of the machine.
Warning and Safety instructions If the connection cable is faulty it must only be replaced with a genuine Miele connection cable.
Warning and Safety instructions Always keep the area around the machine free of dust and fluff. Dust drawn into the machine can over time cause blockages in the condenser unit. Do not install the machine in a room where there is a risk of frost occurring. At temperatures around freezing point the machine may not be able to operate properly. There is a risk of damage if the condensed water is allowed to freeze in the pump, hoses and / or condensed water container.
Warning and Safety instructions For machines with stainless steel surfaces: The stainless steel surfaces must not come into contact with liquid cleaning and disinfecting agents which contain chlorine or sodium hypochlorite. These agents can have a corrosive effect on stainless steel. This should be done by a competent person. ^ The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance with these Warning and Safety instructions. Aggressive vapours containing chlorine can also be corrosive.

Operating the tumble dryer Display Estimated time remaining The following are shown in the display: When a programme is selected, the estimated duration (time remaining) will appear in the display. Please be aware that it is only an estimate! – Programme selection – Programme duration and the programme start and end time When a programme is selected, the display is used to select: – the drying level (e.g. Hand iron, Normal...) – delay start The Settings J menu is also operated via the display.
Using for the first time When the tumble dryer is switched on for the first time, the Miele Professional welcome screen will appear. The Miele Professional welcome screen will not appear again after you have entered the language required, set the time of day, and run an initial programme lasting longer than one hour. The display for setting the language will appear. Entry menu The entry menu showing the current time of day will appear after the machine has been switched on, until you select a programme.

Special programmes ^ Turn the selector to the programme you require. The display will vary according to which programme has been selected.
How to dry correctly Low temperature Before the end of a programme ^ For drying particularly sensitive fabrics (care symbol r), e.g. acrylics, press the Low temperature button. There is a cooling down phase at the end of the drying sequence: Cooling down will appear in the display. The programme will not finish until the cooling down phase has been completed. There is no cooling down phase at the end of the following programmes: Woollens hand care, Smoothing.
Delay start With Delay start you can choose when you want the programme to end, allowing you to make use of night-time economy electricity rates for example. The start of a programme can be delayed by up to 24 hours. To select Delay start ^ Select the programme you want, and then press the m button. 10:00 Normal Start in: 0:45 h The Delay start time will now count down in minutes until the start of the programme. The drum will turn briefly every hour to help prevent creasing.

Warm air Fabric type Max. load: 6.5 kg* – "Voluminous" and multi-layered fabrics whose layers have different drying characteristics, e.g. jackets, pillows. – For drying individual items, e.g. bath towels, bathing costumes, tea-towels. Notes – Select Low temperature for fabrics with the r symbol. – Do not select the longest drying time to start with. Check the items as you are drying them to find the optimum time.

Changing the programme sequence Payment system If your machine is fitted with a payment system, opening the door or cancelling the programme after it has started may cause loss of credit*. * A Miele service technician can re-set the payment system so that programming changes can be made within a specified time period. Adding or removing laundry after a programme has started ^ Press the Door button. ^ Open the door. ,Do not touch the back of the drum when adding or removing items.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the fluff filters Fluff from items being dried is collected by the fluff filters in the door and the door opening. Clean the filters after each drying programme*. Cleaning them whilst dry ^ Remove any fluff from the hollow part of the door opening. You could also use a cleaning brush which is available as an optional extra from your Miele dealer or the Miele Spare Parts Department or use a vacuum cleaner.
Cleaning and care Cleaning them with water If there is a great deal of compacted fluff on any of the filters, they can be removed and cleaned under hot running water. ^ Open the door and pull the fluff filter out of the door as described previously. The two filters in the door opening can also be removed if you need to clean them with water. Replacing the filters ,Do not replace the filters if they are damp or wet. Damp or wet filters could cause operational faults.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the tumble dryer ,Disconnect the machine from the mains electricity supply. ,Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners, glass cleaners or all-purpose cleaners. These could damage plastic surfaces and other parts. ,The machine must never be hosed down. ^ Clean the housing and the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and a mild detergent or soapy water.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the heat exchanger ,Check the heat exchanger unit regularly. It should always be cleaned immediately the Clean heat exchanger or Clean out airways message appears. Removing the heat exchanger ^ Turn the lever on the inner cover downwards to the vertical position. ^ Pull the cover forwards. ^ Open the access panel. The hooks at the side will prevent the panel from falling off. ^ Now remove the panel by pulling it diagonally upwards. ^ Then place it to one side.
Cleaning and care If you cannot see any fluff: ^ Replace the heat exchanger unit (see following page). If you can see some fluff: ^ Clean the heat exchanger unit as described below. Cleaning the heat exchanger unit ^ When rinsing the heat exchanger unit, make sure you position it as shown in the next two illustrations. ^ Pull the heat exchanger unit out of its housing by the handle. Checking the heat exchanger unit ^ Use a shower head or similar to rinse the unit out as shown.
Cleaning and care When replacing the cover after cleaning, ensure that the rubber seal fits correctly into the groove. ^ Replace the cover making sure the hooks locate correctly. Hold it at an angle and push it gently downwards. ^ Then turn the lever upwards into the horizontal position to lock the cover. ^ Replace the service panel and press the upper edge until it clicks into position. ^ Then flush the unit through from the front.

A stacking kit is required which can be purchased from your Miele Dealer or the Miele Spare Parts Department. The stacking kit must be fitted by a Miele authorised service technician.
Installation and connection Installation on a concrete plinth Payment system The dryer can be fitted with a payment system (optional accessory). This must be connected and programmed by a Miele Service technician. Coins / tokens must be removed from the payment system regularly, otherwise it will become blocked. ^ Secure the front feet of the dryer with clamps when installing the machine on a concrete plinth. ,Do not use devices to turn the machine off automatically, (e.g. automatic timers).

Changing default settings Default settings can be altered to adapt the machine to different requirements. The way these are accessed by the operator will depend on how the machine has been programmed. – Some settings are visible and can be changed by all operators via the Settings J menu. – All settings can be locked to prevent unauthorised access. They are then only accessible under Settings/Supervisor level by entering an access code. Please speak to the Miele Service Department for details.

Settings menu J Display contrast Display brightness There are ten different display contrast and display brightness settings. Buzzer When the buzzer function has been activated, an audible tone sounds at the end of a programme. The buzzer will still sound if there is a fault, even if it has been deactivated. The bar chart shows you the setting. Standby To save energy, the display goes out after 10 minutes and the Start button flashes slowly. Off The machine is delivered with the buzzer deactivated.
Settings/Supervisor level menu The Settings/Supervisor level is locked with a code to prevent it being accessed by unauthorised personnel (the Language J setting can still be altered). You can decide at what level of fluff this reminder should be given. You will have an idea of how often this should be done after a few drying programmes.
