They contain important notes on installation, safety, use and maintenance. Miele cannot be held liable for non-compliance with these instructions.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Persons which lack physical, sensory or mental abilities or experience with the machine should not use it without supervision or instruction by a responsible person. Safety with children To reduce the risk of injury, do not allow children to play in, on or near the appliance. Ensure that any packing material is disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of children. Danger of suffocation! Technical safety The refrigerant system is tested for leaks.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS The more coolant there is in an appliance, the larger the room it should be installed in. In the event of a leakage, if the appliance is in a small room, there is the danger of combustible gases building up. For every 11 g of coolant at least 1 m3 of room space is required. The amount of coolant in the appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS For safety reasons, this appliance may only be used after it has been built in. The machine must be disconnected from the power supply during installation, maintenance, and repair work, and installation work on the fresh water connection. The machine is only completely isolated from the power supply when: – the fuse has been tripped, or – the circuit breaker has been tripped, or – the power cord has been unplugged.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Correct use The appliance is designed for use within a certain climate range (ambient temperatures), and should not be used outside this range. The climate range for your appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance. Installing it in a room with too low an ambient temperature, e.g. a garage, will lead to the appliance switching off for longer periods so that it cannot maintain the required temperature.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Do not refreeze partially or fully defrosted food. Consume defrosted food as soon as possible, as it will lose its nutritional value and spoil if left for too long. Defrosted food may only be refrozen after it has been cooked. When eating stored food, there is a danger of food poisoning. Storage times will depend on several factors, including the freshness and quality of the food, as well as the temperature at which it is stored.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Cleaning and maintenance Do not use any oil or grease on the door seals. They can cause the seals to deteriorate over time. Never use a steam cleaner to clean the appliance. The steam can reach the electrical components and cause a short circuit. Sharp edged or pointed objects will damage the evaporator, causing irreversible damage to the appliance. Do not use sharp edged or pointed objects to – remove frost or ice, – separate frozen foods or remove ice trays.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Make sure that the coolant pipework is not damaged during disposal to avoid uncontrolled leakage of oil and coolant (see data plate for coolant type). Before disposing of an old appliance, first make the door latches or locks unusable. This way you will prevent children from accidentally locking themselves in and endangering their lives. Accessories Accessories supplied Cool pack Bottle holder The cool pack prevents the temperature in the freezer rising too quickly in the event of a power outage. This can help prolong the storage time. The non-slip fins of the bottle holder jut out into the bottle shelf and make bottles more secure when you open and close the appliance door. Butter dish The cool pack will be at its most effective after it has been in the freezer for approx. 24 hours.
Accessories KKF-FF Active AirClean carbon filter with holder Carbon filters neutralize unpleasant odors in the refrigerator section for improved air quality. The carbon filter holder clips onto the protective strip at the back of the shelf and can be moved as necessary. Now activate the carbon filter replacement indicator in Settings mode (see “Selecting additional settings” “Carbon filter replacement indicator ”).
Switching on and off Before first use Operating the appliance Packaging material A light touch on the sensors is all that is required to operate this appliance. Remove all packaging material from the inside of the appliance. Protective film The stainless steel trim on the interior shelves and door shelves in the appliance has a layer of protective film to prevent scratching in transit. Remove this protective film once the appliance has been installed.
Switching on and off When the door is opened, the interior lighting comes on and the LED lighting on the shelves becomes brighter until it reaches its maximum brightness. When the appliance is switched on for the first time, the sensor button for the Freezer Zone and the alarm symbol flash until the set freezer temperature is reached. As soon as the set freezer temperature is reached, the sensor button for the Freezer Zone lights up (continuous light) and the alarm symbol goes out.
Switching on and off Switching off the appliance Turning the refrigerator section back on again The refrigerator section can be turned on separately. Touch the on/off button. If this is not possible, the safety lock is activated. The temperature shown on the display will go out and the power supply symbol will appear. The interior lighting will go out and cooling will be turned off.
Switching on and off Turning off for longer periods of time If, during a long absence, the appliance is switched off but not cleaned and the door(s) left shut, there is a danger of bacteria building up inside the appliance. It is essential to clean the appliance. If the appliance is not going to be used for a longer period of time, e.g.
The correct temperature It is very important to set the correct temperature for storing food in the appliance. Bacteria will cause food which is not stored at the correct temperature to deteriorate rapidly. The temperature in the appliance will rise: – if you open the door frequently or keep it open too long, Automatic cold air circulation (DynaCool) The fan automatically turns on when the cooling system for the refrigerator section turns on.
The correct temperature Temperature display In normal operation the display shows the current average refrigerator temperature and the current temperature in the warmest part of the freezer. If the temperature in the freezer section is not within the normal temperature display range, dashes will flash in the display.
The correct temperature The following information appears on the display when the sensors are touched: – With the first touch: The last temperature set flashes. – Each subsequent touch of the sensor: The temperature changes in 1° increments. – Keeping your finger on the sensor changes the temperature continuously. Approx. 5 seconds after you release the button, the actual temperature in the appliance will be displayed. or Touch the OK button to confirm your selection.
The correct temperature Adjusting the temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone In the PerfectFresh Pro zone, the temperature is kept at between 32°F and 37°F (0 °C and 3 °C). However, if you would like it to be warmer or colder, for example for storing fish, you can adjust the temperature slightly. The preset temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone is 5. If a setting of between 1 and 4 is selected, the temperature may fall below zero and food may freeze. In this case, select a higher setting.
Using Automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze The automatic SuperCool function The automatic SuperCool function can be used to rapidly reduce the temperature in the refrigerator section to its lowest setting (in line with room temperature). Turning on automatic SuperCool Turning off automatic SuperCool The automatic SuperCool function turns off automatically after approx. 12 hours. The appliance will then continue to operate at normal power.
Using Automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze Automatic SuperFreeze function For best results, turn on automatic SuperFreeze before putting fresh food in the freezer. Fresh food will then be frozen quickly, retaining its nutritional value, vitamin content, appearance and taste. Turning on automatic SuperFreeze For freezing small quantities of food, the automatic SuperFreeze function should be turned on 6 hours beforehand.
Using Automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze Turning off SuperFreeze The automatic SuperFreeze function will switch itself off automatically after approx. 30 - 65 hours. The quantity of fresh food placed in the freezer determines just how long the SuperFreeze function stays on. The SuperFreeze symbol will then go out and the appliance will run at normal power again.
Temperature and door alarm Your appliance is equipped with a warning system to ensure that temperature increases in the freezer section do not go unnoticed and also prevents energy from being wasted when a door is left open. Temperature alarm If the freezer temperature gets too high, the freezer section sensor will flash and the alarm symbol on the display will flash, and an alarm will also sound.
Temperature and door alarm Door alarm Cancelling the door alarm The appliance is fitted with a warning system to avoid increased energy consumption and food becoming warm if the door is left open. If the alarm is disturbing you, it can be switched off. An alarm will sound if the door is left open for too long. The alarm symbol will light up. The amount of time until the door alarm is triggered depends on the setting selected and can be either 2 minutes (factory default) or 4 minutes.
Selecting additional settings Certain settings for the appliance can only be selected in settings mode. While you are in settings mode, the door alarm and any other fault messages are suppressed automatically, but the alarm symbol lights up on the display.
Selecting additional settings Temperature unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit) By touching the or sensor, you can now select whether the safety lock is activated or deactivated: 0: the safety lock is deactivated 1 : the safety lock is activated. The temperature can be displayed in either Fahrenheit °F or Celsius °C. Degrees Fahrenheit °F is the factory setting. Setting the temperature display to Celsius Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection. Touch the settings button.
Selecting additional settings Setting the temperature display to Fahrenheit You can now select °C by touching the or button. Touch the settings button. Touch the OK button to confirm your selection. All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the symbol will flash. The selected setting will be saved. Touch the buttons for setting the temperature ( or ) repeatedly until °C and °F flash on the display. Touch the settings button to exit settings mode.
Selecting additional settings Acoustic signals You can now select °F by touching the or button. The appliance has acoustic signals such as the button tone and the door and temperature alarms. You can turn the button tone and the door alarm on and off, but you cannot turn off the temperature alarm. Touch the OK button to confirm your selection. There are four settings to choose from. Option 3 is set at the factory; this means that the button tone and the door alarm are turned on.
Selecting additional settings Display brightness By touching the or sensors you can now select the following: 0 : Sensor tone off; Door alarm off 1 : Sensor tone off; Door alarm on (after 4 minutes) 2: Sensor tone off; Door alarm on (after 2 minutes) 3 : Sensor tone on; Door alarm on (after 2 minutes). You can adjust the brightness of the display to suit the ambient light conditions in the room. The display brightness can be adjusted incrementally from 1 to 3.
Selecting additional settings Sabbath mode The appliance has a Sabbath mode for the purposes of religious observance. By touching the or sensor, you can now alter the brightness of the display: 1 : Dimmest setting 2 : Medium setting 3 : Brightest setting.
Selecting additional settings Turning on Sabbath mode Touch the Settings sensor. All symbols available for selection will appear in the display and the symbol flashes. As soon as the symbol goes out in the display after 3 seconds, Sabbath mode is switched on. Turn off Sabbath mode after the Sabbath has passed. Turning off Sabbath mode Touch the Settings sensor to leave Sabbath mode. Touch the sensors for setting the temperature ( or ) repeatedly until the symbol flashes in the display.
Selecting additional settings Activating the carbon filter replacement indicator or resetting the counter Touch the OK sensor button to confirm the selection. Touch the settings sensor button. The selected setting is applied; the symbol flashes. All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the symbol will flash. Touch the sensor buttons for setting the temperature ( or ) repeatedly until the symbol flashes on the display.
Storing food in the refrigerator section Do not load more than a maximum of 35 lb (16 kg) of food in the appliance door. WARNING! Fire hazard! Do not operate any electrical equipment inside the appliance. This can cause sparking. Danger of explosion! Do not store any explosive materials or products containing flammable propellants (e.g., spray cans) in the machine.
Storing food in the refrigerator section Warmest area The warmest area in the refrigerator section is in the top section of the door. Use this for storing butter so that it remains spreadable and cheese so that it retains its flavor. Coldest area The coldest area in the refrigerator section is directly above the dividing plate of the PerfectFresh Pro zone and against the rear wall. However, it is even colder inside the compartments in the PerfectFresh Pro zone.
Storing food in the refrigerator section What to be aware of when shopping for food The freshness of food when first placed in the appliance is the most important factor in determining how long it stays fresh, and how long it can be kept in the appliance. Always observe the use-by date and the recommended storage temperature. Time out of the refrigerator should be kept to a minimum, for example, when transporting food in a hot car.
Storing food in the PerfectFresh Pro zone Thanks to the optimum storage conditions in the PerfectFresh Pro zone for fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and dairy products, food remains fresh for longer, and flavor and vitamins are retained. The optimum storage temperature for fresh food that is not sensitive to the cold is 32°F and 37°F (0 to 3 °C). This is the temperature range which is automatically maintained in the PerfectFresh Pro zone.
Storing food in the PerfectFresh Pro zone Dry compartment The dry compartment is suitable for storing perishable foods such as: – fresh fish and shellfish; – meat and poultry; – salads; – dairy products such as yogurt, cheese, cream, etc.; Humidity-controlled compartment , / Regulating humidity in the humiditycontrolled compartment A slide control is used to regulate the amount of moisture in the humidity controlled compartment with the settings , and .
Storing food in the PerfectFresh Pro zone If you are not satisfied with your stored food (for example food loses its crispness or starts to shrivel up after only a short storage time), check the following: Only put fresh food in the appliance. The condition of the food when it is first placed in the appliance is an important factor in determining how long it stays fresh. Clean the PerfectFresh Pro compartments before storing food in them. Very wet food should be dried off before storage.
Adjusting the interior fittings Adjusting the door shelf/bottle shelf Danger of injury! Only move the door shelves/bottle shelves in the door when they are empty. Moving the shelf/shelf with lighting The shelves can be adjusted according to the height of the food. Push the door/bottle shelf upwards, then remove it by pulling it forwards. Replace the shelf at the required height. Ensure that it is securely pushed back into position.
Adjusting the interior fittings Adjusting the bottle rack The bottle rack is available as an optional accessory (see “Accessories Optional accessories”). PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers The drawers in the PerfectFresh Pro zone are on telescopic rails, and can be removed for filling, emptying or cleaning purposes: To make it easier to pull out the drawers, remove the bottle shelf from the appliance door. Pull the drawers out as far as they will go.
Adjusting the interior fittings Take care when cleaning the appliance that you do not wash the special lubricant out of the telescopic rails. Wipe the rails with a damp cloth. Moving the carbon filter The carbon filter with KKF-FF holder (Active AirClean) is available as an optional accessory (see “Accessories Optional accessories”). To replace the drawer lid, insert it from beneath into the holders, and push it back until it clicks into place. When you are storing very strongsmelling food (e.g.
Freezing and storing food Always observe USDA food safety guidelines. WARNING! Fire hazard! Do not operate any electrical equipment inside the appliance. This can cause sparking. Maximum freezing capacity To ensure that fresh food placed in the freezer freezes through to the core as quickly as possible, the maximum freezing capacity must not be exceeded. The maximum freezing capacity for freezing within a 24-hour period is given on the data plate: “Freezing capacity ....lbs/24 hrs.
Freezing and storing food If food is frozen quickly, the cells have less time to lose moisture, so they shrink less. As there is not so much moisture loss, it is easier for the food to reabsorb it during the defrosting process, and very little water collects around the defrosted food. Storing frozen food When buying frozen food to store in your freezer, make sure to check: – that the packaging is not damaged, – the expiration date and – the temperature at which the frozen food is being stored in the shop.
Freezing and storing food – Placing hot food or drink in the freezer causes food that is already frozen to partially thaw and increases energy consumption. Allow hot food and drink to cool down before placing it in the freezer. Packaging food for freezing Freeze food in portions.
Freezing and storing food - Freezing the maximum amount (see data plate) Ensure ventilation slots at the back of the freezer section are always free from obstruction. If the ventilation slots are blocked, this will affect performance and the energy consumption will increase. Make sure when arranging food on the glass plate that it does not block the ventilation slots. When removing the freezer drawers, please note that the bottom freezer drawer must always remain in the freezer.
Freezing and storing food Defrosting Frozen food can be thawed in various ways: – in the microwave, – in a regular oven, using the “Fan” or “Defrost” setting – at room temperature, – in the refrigerator section (the cold given off by the frozen food helps to keep the other food cold), – in a steam oven. Flat pieces of partially thawed meat or fish can be placed directly into a hot skillet. Meat and poultry (e.g. hamburger, chicken, fish) should not come into contact with other foods while defrosting.
Freezing and storing food Using accessories Using the cool pack The cool pack prevents the temperature in the freezer from rising too quickly in the event of a power outage. This can help prolong the storage life. Place the cool pack in the top drawer of the freezer section. The cool pack will be at its most effective after it has been in the freezer for approx. 24 hours. In the event of a power outage: Place the frozen cool pack directly on top of the frozen food in the front of the top drawer.
Making ice cubes For the automatic ice maker to operate, it must be connected to a water supply (see “Water supply”). Caution The first three batches of ice cubes made after the ice maker is started up must not be consumed, as the water will have been used for the initial rinse through the water supply line. This applies to the initial commissioning as well as when using the appliance again after it has been turned off for a long while.
Making ice cubes The ice cube maker can be turned off independently of the freezer if you do not want to make any ice cubes. If the ice cube maker is turned off, the ice cube drawer can be used as an extra drawer for freezing fresh food and storing frozen food. Turning the ice cube maker on/ off Check that the ice cube drawer is empty before turning the ice cube maker on. Touch the settings sensor button. All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the symbol will flash.
Making ice cubes Making a large quantity of ice cubes Changing the size of the ice cubes The amount of ice cubes made by the machine depends on the temperature in the Freezer Zone. The lower the temperature, the more ice cubes are produced within a given time. At a temperature of 0°F (18°C), approx. 2 lb (1 kg) of ice cubes will be produced within 24 hours. The size of the ice cubes depends on the quantity of water being taken in. You are able to set this quantity according to your wishes.
Making ice cubes By touching the or button, you can now set the water volume you require (E1 to E8): E1: low E8: high Turning the ice cube maker on/ off with the on/off button Open the ice cube drawer slightly. Touch the OK button to confirm your selection. The selected setting will be saved. Touch the settings button to exit settings mode or close the appliance door. The electronics will otherwise switch to normal operation after approx. one minute.
Automatic defrosting WARNING! Danger of injury and Freezer Zone damage! Do not use any mechanical or other types of aids which are not recommended by the manufacturer to accelerate the defrosting process. The appliance is equipped with a “NoFrost” system. The freezer defrosts automatically. Refrigerator section and PerfectFresh Pro zone The refrigerator section and the PerfectFresh Pro zone defrost automatically.
Cleaning and care WARNING! Danger of electric shock! Unplug the appliance or trip the circuit breaker. WARNING! Fire hazard! Do not damage the coolant pipework. Do not let water get into the electronic unit or the lighting. Steam from a steam cleaning appliance could reach the electrical components and cause a short circuit. Do not use a steam cleaner! Cleaning agents Cleaning and conditioning agents used inside the appliance must be food safe.
Cleaning and care Rinsing the ice cube maker Rinse out the ice cube maker and water supply line: – before using for the first time, – if the ice cube maker has not been used for a long time, – regularly when in continuous use (at least once a month) to remove residual ice from the system (to avoid blocking the water supply line) and – before switching the ice cube maker off for a long time. “Rinse the ice cube maker” can only be selected when the ice cube maker is on. Touch the settings button.
Cleaning and care Carefully remove the ice cube drawer, which is now full of water, and empty and clean it. The ice cube tray is not detachable and can only be cleaned when in place. Setting the cleaning position This setting can only be selected if the ice cube maker is on. Empty the ice cube drawer. Dry the ice cube tray with a cloth. As soon as the ice cube maker is turned on, the ice cube tray rotates back to its original position.
Cleaning and care Remove the ice cube drawer. The ice cube tray is not detachable and can only be cleaned when in place. Preparing the appliance for cleaning Switch the appliance off. The display goes out and cooling is turned off. If this does not happen, then the safety lock is still activated (see “Selecting additional settings - Activating/ deactivating the lock”). Unplug the appliance or trip the circuit breaker.
Cleaning and care Dismantling the shelves / shelves with lighting The stainless steel trim with LED lighting must not be placed in water. Clean the stainless steel trim with LED lighting with a damp cloth. The stainless steel trim with LED lighting and stainless steel trim on the shelves is not suitable for dishwashers. Remove the trim before putting the shelves in the dishwasher. Grasp the plastic surround on the left-hand side of the stainless steel trim at its furthest back point.
Cleaning and care Dismantling the bottle and door shelves The stainless steel trim on the bottle and door shelves is not suitable for dishwashers. Remove the trim before cleaning the door shelves in a dishwasher. To remove the stainless steel trim, proceed as follows: Place the door/bottle shelf with the front side to the work surface. Cleaning the interior and accessories Clean the appliance at least once a month. Clean up any spills, stains or food immediately.
Cleaning and care The following parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher: The maximum temperature of the dishwashing program selected must not exceed 131°F (55 °C). Contact with natural dyes from carrots, tomatoes and ketchup etc. may discolor the plastic parts in the dishwasher. This discoloration does not affect the stability of the parts.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the door seal If the door seal is damaged or has come out of the groove, the door will not close properly and this will affect cooling. Condensation will form in the inside and this can cause a build-up of ice. Do not damage the door seal, and make sure that it does not come out of its groove. Do not use any grease or oil on the door seal as this will cause the seal to deteriorate and become porous over time.
Cleaning and care Replacing the carbon filters The carbon filter with KKF-FF holder (Active AirClean) is available as an optional accessory (see “Guide to the appliance” section “Optional accessories”). Replace the carbon filters in the holder around every 6 months. Replacement KKF-RF carbon filters can be obtained from the Miele Technical Service, from your dealer, or from Miele's website. Remove both carbon filters and place the new filters with the surrounding edge pointing downward in the holder.
Frequently Asked Questions With the help of the following guide minor faults in the performance of the machine, some of which may result from incorrect operation, can be remedied without contacting the Service Department. This guide may help you to find the reason for the fault, and how to correct it. To prevent cold from escaping, open the appliance doors as little as possible until the fault has been corrected.
Frequently Asked Questions Problem Possible cause and solution The compressor is turning on more frequently and for longer periods of time; the temperature in the appliance is too low. The ventilation grille is obstructed or dusty. Do not block the ventilation gaps. Clean the ventilation gaps on a regular basis to remove any dust. The appliance doors have been opened too frequently or a large amount of fresh food has been put in all at once for storage or freezing.

Information for dealers Demo mode The appliance can be demonstrated in the showroom or at exhibitions in “Demo mode”. In this mode, the control panel and interior lighting are active but the compressor remains off. Touch and hold the button. Turning on demo mode At the same time, briefly touch the on/off button (without letting go of the button!). Switch the appliance off using the on/ off button. If this does not work, the safety lock is still activated.

The connection parts included with the machine permit the connection of various water lines (water line not supplied).

If, for example, the appliance doors would otherwise hit an adjacent wall, you should limit their opening angle to approx. 90 °. The locking pins for limiting the door opening must be fitted before the appliance is installed.

Using a screwdriver, remove the ball joint and screw it into the adjacent hole. Now turn over the appliance door so that outer side faces upwards (hinges remain open). Do not close the hinges. Remove the soft-close mechanism from the ball joint. Unscrew the mount and pull the soft-close mechanism towards you and off.

To install the appliance, you will need the following tools: Install the appliance in a stable, solid housing unit, positioned on an even and level floor. Secure the cabinetry against tipping. Align the appliance using a spirit level. The cabinet corners must be at 90° angles to each other otherwise the cabinet door will not sit straight on all 4 corners.

Securing the appliance in the niche Pull the appliance forwards by the appropriate dimension. Check again to make sure there is a gap of 1 5/8" (42 mm) to the front edges of the door fittings all round.

Replace upper cover and click it into place. Close the appliance door and the cabinet door. - Adjusting the depth (Z) Loosen screws at the top of the appliance door and screw at the bottom of the securing bracket.
Building in the appliance The appliance is properly installed in the niche if: – The doors close properly. – The doors are not sitting against the cabinet carcase. – The seal on the top corner of the handle side is firmly seated. To check this, place a lamp that is switched on inside the appliance and close the appliance doors. Make the room dark and then check whether you can see light shining out from the sides of the appliance. If so, go back and check the individual installation steps.
