Please read the operating and installation instructions carefully before using the refrigeration appliance for the first time. They contain important information on safety, installation, use, and maintenance. This is to protect yourself from injury, and from damaging your refrigeration appliance.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS This refrigeration appliance is not suitable for storing and keeping cool medicines, blood plasma, laboratory preparations, or other similar substances or products that are subject to the Medical Device Directive. Incorrect use of the refrigeration appliance for such purposes may cause deterioration of the items stored. The refrigeration appliance is also not suitable for use in areas where there is a risk of explosion.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Technical safety The coolant circuit has been checked for leaks. The refrigeration appliance complies with statutory and regulatory requirements.. This refrigeration appliance contains the coolant Isobutane (R600a), a natural gas which is environmentally friendly. Although it is combustible, it does not damage the ozone layer and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect. The use of this coolant has, however, led to a slight increase in the noise level of the appliance.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS To avoid the risk of damage to the appliance, make sure that the connection data (fuse rating, frequency and voltage) on the data plate corresponds to the household supply. Check that this is the case before connecting the appliance. Consult a qualified electrician if in any doubt. The electrical safety of the appliance can only be guaranteed when correctly grounded. It is essential that this standard safety requirement is met.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS – the circuit breaker has been removed completely, or – the power cord has been unplugged. Pull on the plug and not on the power cord when disconnecting it from the power supply. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Cleaning and maintenance Do not use any oil or grease on the door seals. They can cause the seals to deteriorate over time. Never use a steam cleaner to clean the appliance. The steam can reach the electrical components and cause a short circuit. Sharp edged or pointed objects will damage the evaporator, causing irreversible damage to the appliance. Do not use sharp edged or pointed objects to – remove frost or ice, – separate frozen foods or remove ice trays.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Transport To avoid damage to the appliance, always transport it upright and in its packaging. Risk of injury and damage. The refrigeration appliance is very heavy and must be transported by 2 people. Disposal of your old appliance Children could become trapped in the machine and could suffocate. – Remove the machine doors. – Remove the drawers. – Leave the adjustable shelves in the machine so children cannot climb inside.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS – scratching the surface coating. Symbol on the compressor (depending on model) This information is only relevant for recycling. There is no risk during normal operation. The oil in the compressor can be fatal if swallowed or if it penetrates the airways.
Caring for the environment Disposal of packaging material The packaging is designed to protect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging materials used are selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled. Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags, etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of children. Return the packaging to your dealer.

Accessories Accessories supplied Cool pack Bottle holder The cool pack prevents the temperature in the freezer section from rising too quickly in the event of a power failure. This can help prolong the storage life. The non-slip fins of the bottle holder jut out into the bottle shelf and make bottles more secure when you open and close the appliance door. Butter dish The cool pack will be at its most effective after it has been in the freezer for approximately 24 hours.
Accessories KKF-FF Active AirClean carbon filter with holder Carbon filters neutralize unpleasant odors in the refrigerator section for improved air quality. The carbon filter holder clips onto the protective strip at the back of the shelf and can be moved as necessary. Now activate the carbon filter replacement indicator in Settings mode (see “Selecting additional settings” “Carbon filter replacement indicator ”).
Switching on and off Before first use Operating the appliance Packaging material A light touch on the sensors is all that is required to operate this appliance. Remove all packaging material from the inside of the appliance. Protective film The stainless steel trim on the interior shelves and door shelves in the appliance has a layer of protective film to prevent scratching in transit. Remove this protective film once the appliance has been installed.
Switching on and off When the door is opened, the interior lighting comes on and the LED lighting on the shelves becomes brighter until it reaches its maximum brightness. When the appliance is switched on for the first time, the sensor button for the Freezer Zone and the alarm symbol flash until the set freezer temperature is reached. As soon as the set freezer temperature is reached, the sensor button for the Freezer Zone lights up (continuous light) and the alarm symbol goes out.
Switching on and off Switching off the appliance Turning the refrigerator section back on again The refrigerator section can be turned on separately. Touch the On/Off sensor. If this does not work, the safety lock is activated. The temperature shown on the display will go out and the power connection symbol appears. The interior lighting goes out and cooling is switched off.
Switching on and off Switching off for longer periods of time If, during a long absence, the refrigeration appliance is switched off but not cleaned and the door(s) left shut, there is a danger of bacteria building up inside the appliance. It is essential to clean the refrigeration appliance. If the refrigeration appliance is not going to be used for a longer period of time, observe the following: Turn the appliance off. Unplug the appliance or trip the circuit breaker. Empty the ice cube drawer.
The correct temperature It is very important to set the correct temperature for storing food in the appliance. Bacteria will cause food which is not stored at the correct temperature to deteriorate rapidly. Temperature influences the growth rate of these bacteria. Reducing the temperature reduces their growth rate.
The correct temperature Temperature display In normal operation the display shows the current average refrigerator temperature and the current temperature in the warmest part of the freezer. If the temperature in the freezer section is not within the normal temperature display range, dashes will flash in the display.
The correct temperature The following information appears on the display when the sensors are touched: – With the first touch: The last temperature set flashes. – Each subsequent touch of the sensor: The temperature changes in 1° increments. – Keeping your finger on the sensor changes the temperature continuously. Approx. 5 seconds after you release the button, the actual temperature in the appliance will be displayed. or Touch the OK button to confirm your selection.
The correct temperature Adjusting the temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone In the PerfectFresh Pro zone, the temperature is kept at between 32°F and 37°F (0 °C and 3 °C). However, if you would like it to be warmer or colder, for example for storing fish, you can adjust the temperature slightly. The preset temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone is 5. If a setting of between 1 and 4 is selected, the temperature may fall below zero and food may freeze. In this case, select a higher setting.
Using Automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze The automatic SuperCool function The automatic SuperCool function can be used to rapidly reduce the temperature in the refrigerator section to its lowest setting (in line with room temperature). Turning on automatic SuperCool Turning off automatic SuperCool The automatic SuperCool function turns off automatically after approx. 12 hours. The appliance will then continue to operate at normal power.
Using Automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze Automatic SuperFreeze function For best results, turn on automatic SuperFreeze before putting fresh food in the freezer. Fresh food will then be frozen quickly, retaining its nutritional value, vitamin content, appearance and taste. Turning on automatic SuperFreeze For freezing small quantities of food, the automatic SuperFreeze function should be turned on 6 hours beforehand.
Using Automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze Turning off SuperFreeze The automatic SuperFreeze function will switch itself off automatically after approx. 30 - 65 hours. The quantity of fresh food placed in the freezer determines just how long the SuperFreeze function stays on. The SuperFreeze symbol will then go out and the appliance will run at normal power again.
Temperature and door alarm Your appliance is equipped with a warning system to ensure that temperature increases in the freezer section do not go unnoticed and also prevents energy from being wasted when a door is left open. Temperature alarm If the freezer temperature gets too high, the freezer section sensor will flash and the alarm symbol will flash in the display. An alarm will also sound. The temperature the appliance is set at determines the temperature the appliance recognizes as being too warm.
Temperature and door alarm Door alarm Cancelling the door alarm The refrigeration appliance is fitted with a warning system to prevent energy being wasted and food becoming warm if the appliance door is left open. If the alarm is disturbing you, it can be switched off. An alarm will sound if the door is left open for too long. The alarm symbol will light up. The amount of time until the door alarm is triggered depends on the setting selected and can be either 2 minutes (factory default) or 4 minutes.
Selecting additional settings Certain settings for the appliance can only be selected in settings mode. While you are in settings mode, the door alarm and any other fault messages are suppressed automatically, but the alarm symbol lights up on the display.
Selecting additional settings Temperature unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit) By touching the or sensor, you can now select whether the safety lock is activated or deactivated: 0: the safety lock is deactivated 1 : the safety lock is activated. The temperature can be displayed in either Fahrenheit °F or Celsius °C. Degrees Fahrenheit °F is the factory setting. Setting the temperature display to Celsius Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection. Touch the settings sensor.
Selecting additional settings Setting the temperature display to Fahrenheit You can now select °C by touching the or sensors. Touch the settings sensor. Touch the OK sensor to confirm the selection. All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the symbol will flash. The selected setting is saved. Touch the sensors for setting the temperature ( or ) repeatedly until °C and °F flash on the display. Touch the settings sensor to exit settings mode.
Selecting additional settings Audible signals Touch the settings sensor to exit settings mode. If you do not do this, the appliance electronics will exit settings mode automatically after approximately 1 minute. The temperature will now be displayed in Fahrenheit. The appliance has audible signals such as the button tone and the door and temperature alarms. You can turn the button tone and the door alarm on and off, but you cannot turn off the temperature alarm. There are 4 settings to choose from.
Selecting additional settings Display brightness Now touch the or sensors to select: 0: keypad tone off; door alarm off 1: keypad tone off; door alarm on (after 4 minutes) 2: keypad tone off; door alarm on (after 2 minutes) 3: keypad tone on; door alarm on (after 2 minutes) You can adjust the brightness of the display to suit the ambient light conditions in the room. The display brightness can be adjusted incrementally from 1 to 3. The factory default setting is 3 (maximum brightness).
Selecting additional settings Sabbath mode By touching the or sensor, you can now alter the brightness of the display: 1 : Dimmest setting 2 : Medium setting 3 : Brightest setting. The refrigeration appliance offers a Sabbath mode for the purposes of religious observance.
Selecting additional settings Turning on Sabbath mode Touch the Settings sensor. All symbols available for selection will appear in the display and the symbol flashes. As soon as the symbol goes out in the display after 3 seconds, Sabbath mode is switched on. Turn off Sabbath mode after the Sabbath has passed. Turning off Sabbath mode Touch the Settings sensor to leave Sabbath mode. Touch the sensors for setting the temperature ( or ) repeatedly until the symbol flashes in the display.
Selecting additional settings Activating the carbon filter replacement indicator or resetting the counter Touch the OK sensor button to confirm the selection. Touch the settings sensor button. The selected setting is applied; the symbol flashes. All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the symbol will flash. Touch the sensor buttons for setting the temperature ( or ) repeatedly until the symbol flashes on the display.
Storing food in the refrigerator section Do not load more than a maximum of 35 lb (16 kg) of food in the appliance door. Risk of fire from electrical appliances. Operating electrical devices in the appliance can cause sparks to form. Do not operate any electrical devices inside the appliance. Risk of explosion due to flammable mixes of gases. Electrical components can cause flammable mixes of gases to ignite. Do not store any explosive materials or products containing flammable propellants (e.g.
Storing food in the refrigerator section Warmest area The warmest area in the refrigerator section is in the top section of the door. Use this for storing butter so that it remains spreadable and cheese so that it retains its flavor. Coldest area The coldest area in the refrigerator is directly above the PerfectFresh Pro zone dividing plate and at the back of the appliance. The temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone compartments is even colder.
Storing food in the refrigerator section Notes on buying food Storing food correctly The freshness of food when first placed in the appliance is an important factor in determining how long it stays fresh, and how long it can be kept in the appliance. Take into account the use-by date and the correct storage temperature. Time out of the refrigerator, e.g., transporting food in a warm car, should be kept to a minimum.
Storing food in the PerfectFresh Pro zone Thanks to the optimum storage conditions in the PerfectFresh Pro zone for fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and dairy products, food remains fresh for longer, and flavor and vitamins are retained. The optimum storage temperature for fresh food that is not sensitive to the cold is 32°F and 37°F (0 to 3 °C). This is the temperature range which is automatically maintained in the PerfectFresh Pro zone.
Storing food in the PerfectFresh Pro zone Dry compartment The dry compartment is suitable for storing perishable foods such as: – fresh fish and shellfish; – meat and poultry; – salads; – dairy products such as yogurt, cheese, cream, etc.; Humidity-controlled compartment , / Regulating humidity in the humiditycontrolled compartment A slide control is used to regulate the amount of moisture in the humidity controlled compartment with the settings , and .
Storing food in the PerfectFresh Pro zone If you are not satisfied with your stored food (for example food loses its crispness or starts to shrivel up after only a short storage time), check the following: Only put fresh food in the appliance. The condition of the food when it is first placed in the appliance is an important factor in determining how long it stays fresh. Clean the PerfectFresh Pro compartments before storing food in them. Very wet food should be dried off before storage.
Adjusting the interior fittings Adjusting the door shelf/bottle shelf Moving the shelf/shelf with lighting Tip: Only move the door shelves/bottle shelves in the door when they are empty. By adjusting the position of the shelf with lighting in the refrigerator section, you can change the illumination in this section as required. Push the door shelf/bottle shelf upward, then remove it by pulling it forward. Stops prevent the shelves from being dislodged by mistake.
Adjusting the interior fittings Adjusting the bottle rack The bottle rack is available as an optional accessory (see “Accessories Optional accessories”). PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers The drawers in the PerfectFresh Pro zone are on telescopic rails, and can be removed for filling, emptying or cleaning purposes: To make it easier to pull out the drawers, remove the bottle shelf from the appliance door. Pull the drawers out as far as they will go.
Adjusting the interior fittings Take care when cleaning the appliance that you do not wash the special lubricant out of the telescopic rails. Wipe the rails with a damp cloth. The holder for the carbon filters sits on the protective strip at the back of the adjustable shelf. To move the carbon filter, pull the holder up and off the protective strip. To replace the drawer lid, insert it from beneath into the holders, and push it back until it clicks into place.
Freezing and storing food Always observe USDA food safety guidelines. reabsorb it during the defrosting process, and very little water collects around the defrosted food. Freezing and storing food Home freezing Only freeze food that is fresh and in good condition. Tips for home freezing – The following types of food are suitable for home freezing: fresh meat, poultry, game, fish, vegetables, herbs, fresh fruit, dairy products, baked goods, leftovers, egg yolks, egg whites, and a range of pre-cooked meals. – The following types of food are not suitable for freezing: lettuce, radishes, sour cream, mayonnaise, whole eggs in their shells, onions, whole raw apples and pears.
Freezing and storing food Before placing food in the freezer When freezing more than 4.4 lbs (2 kg) of fresh food, switch on the SuperFrost function for some time before placing the food in the freezer (see “Using SuperCool and SuperFrost – SuperFrost function”). This helps food which is already stored in the freezer to stay frozen. Placing food in the freezer Risk of damage due to heavy loads. Loading food which is too heavy can cause damage to the freezer drawers/glass shelves.
Freezing and storing food Storage time for frozen food The storage life of food is very variable, even at a constant temperature of 0°F (-18°C). Decomposition processes also take place in frozen food, albeit at a very reduced speed. Fat can become rancid from contact with oxygen in the air, for example. This is why lean meat can be stored approx. twice as long as fatty meat. The storage times quoted are guide values for the storage life of different food groups in the Freezer Zone.
Freezing and storing food Cooling drinks quickly Using accessories Risk of injury from broken glass! Using the cool pack Bottles and cans of drinks, particularly carbonated drinks, can burst when frozen. Do not freeze any drinks in bottles or cans. The cool pack prevents the temperature in the freezer section from rising too quickly in the event of a power failure. This can help prolong the storage life. Adjusting the interior fittings Place the cool pack in the top drawer of the freezer section.
Making ice cubes For the automatic ice cube maker to operate, it must be connected to a water supply (see “Installation – Water supply”). Risk to health due to contaminated water. Consuming polluted water can lead to illnesses. The first 3 batches of ice cubes made after the ice cube maker is started up must not be consumed, as the water will have been used for the initial rinsing of the water supply line.
Making ice cubes The ice cube maker can be turned off independently of the freezer if you do not want to make any ice cubes. If the ice cube maker is turned off, the ice cube drawer can be used as an extra drawer for freezing fresh food and storing frozen food. Turning the ice cube maker on/ off Check that the ice cube drawer is empty before turning the ice cube maker on. Touch the settings sensor button. All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the symbol will flash.
Making ice cubes Making a large quantity of ice cubes Changing the size of the ice cubes The amount of ice cubes made by the machine depends on the temperature in the Freezer Zone. The lower the temperature, the more ice cubes are produced within a given time. At a temperature of 0°F (18°C), approx. 2 lb (1 kg) of ice cubes will be produced within 24 hours. The size of the ice cubes depends on the quantity of water being taken in. You are able to set this quantity according to your wishes.
Making ice cubes By touching the or button, you can now set the water volume you require (E1 to E8): E1: low E8: high Turning the ice cube maker on/ off with the on/off button Open the ice cube drawer slightly. Touch the OK button to confirm your selection. The selected setting will be saved. Touch the settings button to exit settings mode or close the appliance door. The electronics will otherwise switch to normal operation after approx. one minute.
Automatic defrosting WARNING! DANGER of injury Freezer Zone and damage! Do not use any mechanical or other types of aids which are not recommended by the manufacturer to accelerate the defrosting process. The appliance is equipped with a “NoFrost” system. The freezer defrosts automatically. Refrigerator section and PerfectFresh Pro zone The refrigerator section and the PerfectFresh Pro zone defrost automatically.
Cleaning and care WARNING! DANGER of electric shock! Unplug the appliance or trip the circuit breaker. WARNING! Fire hazard! Do not damage the coolant pipework. Cleaning agents Cleaning and conditioning agents used inside the appliance must be food safe. To avoid damaging the surfaces of your appliance, do not use – cleaning products containing soda, ammonia, acid, or chloride, Do not let water get into the electronic or the lighting.
Cleaning and care Rinsing the ice cube maker Risk to health due to contaminated water. Bacteria can develop in water which has been sitting in the water supply lines for several days. This poses a risk to your health.
Cleaning and care You will hear the ice cube tray turning to a slanted position. Wait until the ice cube tray has stopped moving before continuing. The ice cube maker will then switch off. Carefully remove the ice cube drawer, which is now full of water. Empty and clean it. The ice cube tray cannot be removed and must be cleaned in situ. Dry the ice cube tray with a cloth.
Cleaning and care Setting the cleaning position This setting can only be selected if the ice cube maker is on. Remove the ice cube drawer. The ice cube tray cannot be removed and must be cleaned in place. Empty the ice cube drawer. Touch the settings button. All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the symbol will flash. Touch the buttons for setting the temperature ( and ) repeatedly until the symbol for the ice cube maker flashes on the display.
Cleaning and care Preparing the appliance for cleaning Turn the appliance off. The display goes out and the cooling function is turned off. Unplug the appliance or switch off the breaker. Take any food out of the appliance and store it in a cool place. Remove the door shelf/bottle shelf from the door. Remove the PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers and the their lids (see “Adjusting the interior fittings PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers”). Remove the glass plate from the divider panel.
Cleaning and care Dismantling the bottle and door shelves Remove the stainless steel trim before cleaning the door shelves in a dishwasher. To remove the stainless steel trim, proceed as follows: Grasp the plastic surround on the left-hand side of the stainless steel trim at its rearmost point. Place the door/bottle shelf with the front side on the work surface. 1. Pull the plastic surround from the shelf and 2. pull the trim off at the same time. Then do the same on the opposite side. 3.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the interior and accessories The appliance should be cleaned regularly (at least once a month). Clean up any spills, stains, or food immediately. Do not allow them to dry and stick to the appliance. The following parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher: The maximum temperature of the dishwasher program selected must not exceed 131°F (55°C). Clean the interior with a clean sponge, lukewarm water and a little liquid dish soap.
Cleaning and care Clean the condensate channel and drain opening frequently using a cotton swab or similar item to ensure that condensate can drain away freely. Remove the PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers to clean the condensate channel and drain. Be careful not to wash out the special lubricant in the telescopic runners during cleaning. The PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers are on telescopic runners. Clean the telescopic runners with a damp cloth.
Cleaning and care Starting up the appliance after cleaning Replace all shelves and accessories in the appliance. Reconnect to the power supply and switch the appliance back on. Switch on the automatic SuperFreeze function for a while so that the freezer section can cool down quickly. Switch on the automatic SuperCool function for a while so that the refrigerator section can cool down quickly. Put the food back in the appliance and close the door.
Cleaning and care Remove both carbon filters and place the new filters with the surrounding edge pointing downward in the holder. Place the holder in the middle of the raised edge at the back of any of the adjustable shelves so that it clicks into position.
Frequently Asked Questions With the help of the following guide minor faults in the performance of the machine, some of which may result from incorrect operation, can be remedied without contacting the Service Department. This guide may help you to find the reason for the fault, and how to correct it. To prevent cold from escaping, open the appliance doors as little as possible until the fault has been corrected.
Frequently Asked Questions Problem Possible cause and solution The compressor is turning on more frequently and for longer periods of time; the temperature in the refrigeration appliance is too low. The ventilation gaps are obstructed or dusty. Do not block the ventilation gaps. Clean the ventilation gaps on a regular basis to remove any dust.
