IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Installation The dishwasher must be installed and connected in compliance with the installation instructions. Installation and repair work should be performed by a Miele authorized service technician. Work by unqualified persons could be dangerous and may void the warranty. Do not install or use a damaged dishwasher. A damaged appliance is dangerous. Unplug the machine and call your Miele dealer or the Miele Technical Service Department.

Caring for the environment Energy saving washing This dishwasher is exceptionally economical in the use of water and electricity. For best results follow these tips: ^ For lowest energy consumption and the gentlest washing of china and crystal, connect the dishwasher to a cold water source. ^ For fastest possible wash times, yet higher energy consumption, connect the dishwasher to a hot water source.
Before using for the first time To open the door Child Safety Lock ^ Press the release catch inside the door grip. The Child Safety Lock is designed to prevent children from opening the dishwasher. If the door is opened during operation, the dishwasher will stop running. Once the door is closed the program will restart. To close the door ^ To lock the door, push the slider below the door grip to the right. ^ To unlock the door, push the slider to the left. ^ Push the baskets in.

Before using for the first time Checking the water hardness Every dishwasher is tested before leaving the factory. Any water remaining in the machine is from the final factory test and does not indicate that the machine has been used. The water hardness is measured by the sensor can be displayed. See "Settings J - Water hardness". External water softener Water softener To achieve good cleaning results, the dishwasher needs soft water.
Before using for the first time Filling the salt container ,Inadvertently filling the salt container with dishwashing detergent will damage the water softener. ,Only use water softener salt specially formulated for dishwashers. Other salts may contain insoluble additives which can impair the water softener. ^ Remove the lower basket and unscrew the salt container lid. When opening the salt container, water will run out. Open the container only to refill salt.
Before using for the first time Salt refill message ^ When the display shows k Refill salt, refill the salt after the program has finished. ^ Confirm with OK. The message will clear from the display. After the container has been filled, the water softener is automatically reactivated the next time the dishwasher is started. The Refill salt message will show again during this process. ^ Confirm again with OK.
Before using for the first time Rinse aid Rinse aid helps to prevent spotting on dishes and glassware. The rinse aid is filled in the reservoir and the set amount will be automatically dosed. ,Filling the rinse aid reservoir with detergent will damage the reservoir. Only pour rinse aid formulated for residential dishwashers into the reservoir. When using "2 in 1" or "3 in 1" detergents, rinse aid is not needed.
Before using for the first time Rinse aid refill message When the H Refill rinse aid message is first displayed, there will be enough rinse aid left for 2 - 3 washes. ^ Refill rinse aid after the program has finished. If the "2 in 1" or "3 in 1" function is selected, the Refill rinse aid will not come on. See "Settings J - Detergent". ^ Confirm with OK. The message will clear from the display.
Loading the dishwasher ,Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, grease or paint in the dishwasher. Ash and sand do not dissolve and will be distributed throughout the inside of the dishwasher. Wax, grease and paint will cause permanent discoloration and damage to the dishwasher. ^ Scrape food from dishes before placing them in the dishwasher, rinsing is not necessary. ^ Some foods contain natural dyes, e.g. carrots or tomatoes.
Loading the dishwasher Items not recommended for dishwashing – Cutlery with wooden handles – Wooden cutting boards – Glued items such as old knives with handles glued together around the shank of the blade – Handmade craft items, antique, metal trimmed or decorative glassware Glassware: – There are no standard guidelines for washing glassware, when in doubt wash by hand. – When purchasing new dishes, glasses and cutlery, make sure they are dishwasher safe.
Loading the dishwasher Split cutlery tray ^ Arrange the cutlery as shown in the cutlery tray. For easier unloading cutlery should be grouped in zones, one for knives, one for forks, one for spoons, etc. Place knives with the cutting edge and forks with the prongs between the holders. Spoons should be placed in the opposite direction with the handles between the holders. The upper spray arm must not be blocked by tall cutlery items. The inserts of the cutlery tray can be removed.
Loading the dishwasher Upper basket ,For safety reasons only use the dishwasher with the upper and lower basket inserted. Exception: The programs "Large items normal" and "Large items soiled" are designed for use without the upper basket. Removable spike insert The spike insert can be removed to create more space for larger items, e.g. a saucepan. Removing an insert a: ^ To remove an insert, gently pull up on the handle.
Loading the dishwasher Adjustable cup racks Coffee bar ^ Raise the rack to make room for tall glasses. Lower it to double stack smaller pieces. (depending on model) Glasses can be leaned against the coffee bar for a secure stand. The height of the cup rack can be adjusted in two levels. ^ The bar can also be used to separate two rows of glasses. ^ Pull the cup rack upwards and let it engage at the desired height. 22 To stack wide items, flip the bar to the right.
Loading the dishwasher Glassware rail (depending on model) The glassware rail is designed for a secure stand of tall glasses and stemmed glassware. ^ Flip the bar down to lean tall glasses on it. If necessary take out a part of the cutlery tray to make room for tall glasses.
Loading the dishwasher Adjusting the upper basket The upper basket can be raised or lowered to accommodate tall items. The basket can also be angled to fit tall items in both, the upper and lower baskets. The angles should not be set to opposite extremes. This will block the middle spray arm. Take care when sliding the basket in and out in this position. ^ Slide out the upper basket. ^ Pull up the levers at the sides of the upper basket and adjust the basket height.

Loading the dishwasher Comfort inserts PlateGuard Plus with StemGuard The comfort inserts are designed for cups, glasses, plates, bowls, pots, etc. Removing an insert a: ^ To insert tall items, raise the cup rest. ^ To remove an insert, gently pull up on the handle. ^ Lean or hang stemmed glassware such as wine or champagne glasses in the cut outs of the cup rest. Inserting an insert b: ^ Insert the long comfort insert on the left and the short one in the rear right.
Loading the dishwasher Removable spike insert with StemGuard Removing: ^ Push the insert down, a and at the same time push the latch towards the basket, b. Vase/Bottle holder The vase/bottle holder, e.g. for vases and baby bottles, can be inserted into the lower basket as shown in the illustration. If placed anywhere else, water will not reach all surfaces. The bottle will not be properly cleaned.
Basket accessories Additional inserts for the upper and lower baskets may be purchased from your Miele dealer or Miele. Depending on model some accessories come standard with the machine.
Use Detergent ,Dishwasher detergents contain irritant and corrosive ingredients. Avoid inhaling or swallowing dishwasher detergent. Keep children away from detergent. Fill the detergent dispenser only when you are ready to start the dishwasher. You can use powder, gel or tab detergents. Follow the dosage information on the detergent packaging. See "Settings - Detergent" for more information on detergent usage. Detergent tabs are not recommended for use with the program "Short".
Use Adding detergent ^ To open, press the latch on the detergent dispenser. The flap will spring open. The flap is always open at the end of a program. ^ Add detergent to compartment II and close the flap. ^ If a Pre-rinse is desired, and available for your chosen program, add 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of detergent to compartment I. The horizontal marks in compartment II indicate the levels of approximately 1 ¼ and 2 tablespoons (20 and 30 ml) respectively. Compartment I holds a maximum of 2 teaspoons (10 ml).

Use Time display You can now select the detergent used. Available selections are: Powder, Gel, "2 in 1" and "3 in 1" tabs. See "Settings J - Detergent". Starting a program ^ Press the "Start" button. The program begins and the "Start" indicator lights. Cancel a program only in the first 5 minutes. Otherwise important program steps (e.g. the water softening) could be interrupted. The program can be locked. To use this function, see "Settings J - Program lock".
Use At the end of a program Interrupting a program At the end of a program the display shows End. A program is interrupted as soon as the door is opened. If the door is closed, the program will continue from where it was interrupted. Dishes tends to chip if removed still hot from the dishwasher. Let the dishware cool. After turning off the dishwasher open the door slightly. The dishes will cool much faster. ^ Open the dishwasher and unload the dishes. ^ Turn the dishwasher off s.
Use Changing a program If the detergent flap is already open do not change the program. If a program has already started and you wish to change it: Sensor Wash Rinse 1:30 h Cancel ^ Select Cancel and confirm with OK. The program is canceled. Sensor Wash End Back A ^ Select Back and confirm with OK . The display changes to the program menu. ^ Select and start the desired program as usual.
Additional options Delay Start The starting time of a program can be delayed between 15 minutes and 24 hours. The start can be delayed in 15-minute-increments. When using the "Delay Start" function make sure that the detergent compartment is dry before adding detergent, use a cloth if necessary. The detergent might stick together and not get completely rinsed out. Do not use liquid detergent when selecting "Delay Start", the detergent could leak.
Settings J The "Settings J" menu allows you to adjust standard settings. Opening the Settings J menu ^ Turn the dishwasher on by pressing the s button. The main menu shows in the display. If the memory function is selected, the last selected program is displayed. See "Settings J - Memory". Select Back to switch to the program selection. Glassware cold - Plate warming Settings F Language J The display contents can be shown in different languages.
Settings J Time of day Y Detergent z This selection allows the clock to be shown as 24 or 12 hours. The clock can also be set from here. To achieve best results the used detergent can be set on your dishwasher. The selections available are "Powder", "Gel", "2 in 1" and "3 in 1" tabs. The program cycle sequence will be adjusted for the selected detergent. Depending on the program the program running time could increase. Setting the clock format ^ Select the desired clock format and confirm with OK.
Settings J "3 in 1" tabs Water hardness The function "3 in 1" adjusts the program cycle to the use of "3 in 1" detergent products (detergent with rinse aid and water softener salt). The rinse aid dosage and rinse aid refill messages are deactivated. The salt usage for the water softener will be reduced to 1/3 -1/4 of the normal amount. The dishwasher is equipped with a sensor softener, which automatically detects the hardness of your tap water. After plumbing the dishwasher and finishing a program, e.g.
Settings J Rinse aid Reorganize program list k For best results the rinse aid dosage can be adjusted. The dosage can be set between 0 and 6 ml. The order of the programs in the program list can be reorganized. The three most frequently used programs can be saved to the first three positions. The dosage set by default to 3 ml of rinse aid per program. ^ Use a higher setting if spots appear on dry glassware. ^ Use a lower setting if streaking appears on dishes or glasses. C Back A k 1. Settings J Save options Ö Child Safety Lock X Additional options can be selected for some programs, e.g. extended drying. See "Use - Selecting options". The Child Safety Lock protects the dishwasher from misuse. Save options allows you to save the selected options for future use of the program. This function is turned off by default. ^ Select the desired setting and confirm with OK. If the dishwasher is turned on while the Child Safety Lock is activated, the display shows X Machine locked.
Settings J Program lock X The running program can be locked. This function prevents accidentally changing a program during use. You can select if the program lock can be activated or not. The actual locking of the program is done once the program is started. C Back A X Yes No B ^ Select Yes and confirm with OK. If no other setting is desired, leave the "Settings J" menu by selecting Back. Locking a program To lock a program, a program must first be started. ^ Select and start a program.
Settings J Temperature | Buzzer O The temperature can be displayed in "°C/Celsius" or "°F/Fahrenheit". When the buzzer is activated, a tone sounds at the end of a program and if a fault occurs. The temperatures are shown in °C/Celsius by default. ^ Select the desired temperature unit and confirm with OK. The buzzer at the end of a program is turned on by default. Buzzer at the end of a program The buzzer at the end of a program sounds five times in intervals with a brief break in between.
Settings J Button tone P Standby Q A tone will sound when a button is pressed. To save energy the display turns off 10 minutes after a button is pressed. The button tone is turned on by default. The "Start" indicator flashes. ^ Select the desired option and confirm with OK. To turn the display on again, press any button. Brightness The function is turned off during a running program by default. The display brightness can be adjusted in 17 levels. ^ Select the desired option and confirm with OK.
Settings J Dealer = Factory default { All settings can be reset to the factory default. Demo modes are only for showrooms. ^ Select Reset and confirm with OK. The dishwasher has three demo programs for showrooms. The programs "Demo mode" and "Endless demo mode" show the use and function range of the dishwasher. – Demo mode: Leaving the Settings menu ^ Select Back and confirm with OK. The display changes to the program menu. The program is started by pressing any button.

Transport To transport the dishwasher, e.g. when moving to a new home, note the following: – Empty the dishwasher. – Secure any loose parts, e.g. hoses, cables, cutlery baskets. – Transport the dishwasher in the upright position. If unavoidable it may be transported on its back. Do not transport it on its side or on the door. Residual water in the machine could leak and cause electrical damage.

Cleaning and Care Exterior Check and clean your dishwasher regularly (approx. every 4-6 months). This will help avoid problems and faults. ,Abrasive cleaning agents, glass cleaning agents, all-purpose cleaners, thinner or ammonium cleaners should not be used on the dishwasher. They will damage the surface. Wash cabinet Generally, the wash cabinet is self cleaning if the correct amount of detergent is used.
Cleaning and Care Triple filter system Cleaning the triple filter The triple filter system in the base of the wash cabinet prevents food from being redeposited on dishes. It also protects the circulation pump from damage caused by foreign objects (e.g. broken glass, bones, etc.). ^ Turn off the dishwasher before cleaning. ,The machine must not be used without all the filters in place! Check and clean the filter system every 4-6 months or whenever a foreign object is trapped.
Cleaning and Care To clean the underside of the filter the flap must be opened. ^ Return the filter so it lies flat in the base of the wash cabinet. ^ Push the clips together a and open the flap b. ^ Lock the filter by turning the handle clockwise. ^ Rinse under running water. The triple filter system must be inserted and locked. Large particles could get in the circulation system and cause a blockage. ^ Close the flap so that the clip engages.
Cleaning and Care Cleaning the spray arms Sometimes particles of food get stuck in the spray arm jets. The spray arms should be inspected and cleaned every 4 - 6 months. ^ Turn off the dishwasher before cleaning. Removing the spray arms ^ Remove the cutlery tray (if present). ^ Press the top spray arm up to engage the inner ratchet and unscrew the spray arm. ^ Lift up the middle spray arm, a, to engage the ratchet and unscrew the spray arm, b. ^ Remove the lower basket.
Cleaning and Care Cleaning the water inlet filter A filter is incorporated into the intake hose attached to the dishwasher’s shut off valve. If your water is hard or the pipes contain sediment, this filter may clog and prevent enough water from entering the wash cabinet. ,The plastic housing of the water connection contains electrical wiring. Do not submerge the housing in liquid. Do not cut the intake hose or submerge it in liquid.
Cleaning and Care Cleaning the drain pump and non-return valve If the dishwasher is not completely drained at the end of a program, the drain pump or non-return valve may be blocked. ^ Turn off the dishwasher and pull the plug. ^ Remove the triple filter (see "Triple filter system"). ^ Use a jug or bowl to scoop water out of the wash cabinet. ^ Tilt the locking clamp to the side a. The drain pump is beneath the non-return valve (see arrow).

Please recycle. Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of children. Plumbing Connection to the water supply ,Do not drink water from the dishwasher! – The dishwasher can heat its own water to the temperature required by the wash program. This allows for connection of the machine to either a hot or cold water source. For lowest energy consumption connect the dishwasher to a cold water source. For fastest possible wash times, with slightly higher energy consumption, connect the dishwasher to a hot water source. All programs use hot water in the rinse cycles.
