Programming the radio for your area:
Your WR120 All Hazards Weather Alert Radio comes preprogrammed to
receive weather and hazard alert transmissions for all S.A.M.E. codes
within range of the transmitter of the selected channel. Follow these simple
instructions to program your radio to receive alerts just for your county.
Manually Entering a S.A.M.E. County Code
1. Press the “MENU” button.
2. Press the “UP” or “DOWN” arrows until the display says “SET LOCATION.” Press the
“SELECT” button.
3. You now have the option of choosing between “ANY,” “MULTIPLE,” and “SINGLE.”
If you want to program a single county code then select “SINGLE.” If you want to
program multiple county codes then select “MULTIPLE.” If “ANY” is selected as your
location your radio will receive all weather alerts and you will be unable to program a
specic county code.
Press the “UP” or “DOWN” arrows until you have reached your selection then press
the “SELECT” button.
4. To get the S.A.M.E. code and weather channel for your area, call 1-888-697-7263
or visit http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/coverage/county_coverage.html
Press the “RIGHT” arrow and you will now be able to input your 6 digit S.A.M.E. code.
Press the “UP” or “DOWN” arrows to change the digit that is ashing on the screen.
Press the “RIGHT” arrow to go to the next digit to the right. When you are done,
press the “SELECT” button to save the code you just entered.
5. If you selected “SINGLE” for your location press the “MENU” button 2 times to save
your settings and exit the menu. If you selected “MULTIPLE” for your location you
can now enter more S.A.M.E. codes.
6. Press the “UP” arrow to go to the next county code programming location and press
the “RIGHT” arrow. Repeat the steps for programming your 6 digit S.A.M.E code.
There are 25 county code programming locations possible.
7. When you are done manually entering your S.A.M.E. county codes press the “MENU”
button 2 times to save your settings and exit the menu.
Set Alert Type (Display, Voice or Tone):
1. Press MENU to open menu options.
2. Press
▲ to scroll through menu to ALERT TYPE, then press SELECT .
3. Press
▲ to choose VOICE, TONE or DISPLAY then press SELECT .
4. Press
MENU to exit menu mode.
Alert Type Description
Display
When the DISPLAY alert type is chosen, only a
text alert will scroll on the display. There will be
no audible alarm.
Voice
When the VOICE alert type is chosen, the alert
tone will sound for 8 seconds, then you will
hear the voice of the weather broadcast for 3
minutes.
Tone
When the TONE alert type is chosen, the alert
tone will sound for 3 minutes, or until you press
any but ton.
