1 Overview Area: This represents the scan
bed size. The dimensions of this overview
area, however, will depend on the size as
stipulated by #2 and #3 below.
2 Size: This option lets you choose whether to
do an overview of the Maximum area or a
Custom area.
• Maximum refers to the maximum area
that can be overviewed. The dimensions
of the maximum area vary, depending on
your scanner model from 8.5" x 11.7 to
8.5" x 14". Take note that transmissive
scan areas are smaller.
• Custom refers to the area as determined
by the dimensions you specify in #3
below.
3 Left, Top, Width, Height: These edit boxes
let you specify the dimensions of the
overview area.
• Top and Left refer to the starting points
of the overview area on the X and Y
coordinates.
• Width is the expanse of the overview
area. Height is the depth of the overview
area.
4 Overview Option: Fast Overview speeds up
the overview process. .
5 Overview button: This button lets you do a
new overview and is helpful if you have
specified custom settings or changed the
dimensions.
6 OK: Clicking this button accepts the
settings and dimensions specified in the
dialog box.
To change the size of your preview area:
1. Go to the Preferences menu in the Preview
window, and choose Overview Setup.
2. When the Overview Setup dialog box
appears, click the Overview button to
preview the entire bed. This will help you
determine how you wish to resize the
overview area.
3. To change the overview area, you can:
• Drag a rectangle that approximates the
size of the overview that you wish; or
• Enter the appropriate values for the Top,
Left, Width, and Height edit boxes. The
new dimensions will take effect on the
next Overview — when you click the
Overview button again in the Preview
window (not the Overview button in the
Overview Setup dialog box).
