In the example in Figure 1-4, a DBA has optimized hardware resources within the environ-
ment by modifying the global utilization policies to meet the needs of the organization. For
example, the global CPU overutilization policies of a managed instance of SQL Server and
computer have been congured to be overutilized when the utilization is greater than 85
percent. In addition, the global le space and storage volume overutilization policies for all
managed instances of SQL Server have been changed to 65 percent.
