CONNECTING TO OTHER DEVICES When connecting to any other device, read its user guide for detailed safety instructions. Do not connect incompatible products. EMERGENCY CALLS Ensure the phone is switched on and in service.
For your safety Your service provider may have requested that certain features be disabled or not activated in your device. If so, they will not appear on your device menu. Your device may also have been specially configured. This configuration may include changes in menu names, menu order, and icons. Contact your service provider for more information. This device supports WAP 2.0 protocols (HTTP and SSL) that run on TCP/IP protocols.
General information General information ■ Access codes Security code The security code (5 to 10 digits) helps to protect your phone against unauthorized use. The preset code is 12345. To change the code, and to set the phone to request the code, see “Security,” p. 72. If you enter an incorrect security code five times in succession, the phone ignores further entries of the code. Wait for 5 minutes, and enter the code again.
General information Restricting password The restricting password (4 digits) is required when you use the Call restrictions. See “Security,” p. 72. You can obtain the password from your service provider. If you enter an incorrect restricting password three times in succession, the password is blocked. Contact your service provider or network operator.

Get started 1. Get started ■ Install the SmartChip and battery Always switch the device off and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. Keep all SmartChips out of the reach of small children. For availability and information on using SmartChip services, contact your SIM card vendor. This may be the service provider, network operator, or other vendor. This device is intended for use with the BP-6M battery.
Get started 4. Insert the SmartChip into the SmartChip holder (4). Make sure that the SmartChip is properly inserted and that the gold-colored contact area on the card is facing downwards. Close the SmartChip holder, and press it until it snaps into position. 5. Replace the battery (5). See “Nokia battery authentication guidelines,” p. 87. 6. Slide the back cover into place (6). ■ Install a memory card Use only compatible miniSD cards with this device.
Get started Important: Do not remove the memory card in the middle of an operation when the card is being accessed. Removing the card in the middle of an operation may damage the memory card as well as the device, and data stored on the card may be corrupted. To insert the memory card, open the memory card holder as shown (1). Make sure that the memory card is properly inserted and that the gold-colored contact area on the card is facing upwards (2). Place the memory card in the card holder (3).
Get started 1. Connect the charger to a wall socket. 2. Connect the lead from the charger to the charging adapter (1), and the adapter to the socket on the bottom of your phone (2). If the battery is completely discharged, it may take a few minutes before the charging indicator appears on the display or before any calls can be made. The charging time depends on the charger and the battery charge.
Get started ■ Open the keypad To open the keypad, slide the phone as shown. ■ Normal operating position Use the phone only in its normal operating position. Your device has an internal antenna. Note: As with any other radio transmitting device, do not touch the antenna unnecessarily when the device is switched on. Contact with the antenna affects call quality and may cause the device to operate at a higher power level than otherwise needed.

When the arrow indicators (6) are shown, you can scroll the item left and right. Active standby navigation choices In the active standby navigation mode, the following choices are available: Shortcut bar—To select a shortcut, scroll left or right to the desired function, using navigation key, and select it.
Your phone Power saver To set the power saving function On, see Power saver in “Display,” p. 61. Indicators You have unread messages in the Inbox folder. You have unsent, canceled, or failed messages in the Outbox folder. The phone logged a missed call. / Your phone is connected to the instant messaging service, and the availability status is online or offline. You received one or several instant messages, and you are connected to the instant messaging service. The keypad is locked.
Your phone All incoming calls are forwarded to another number. The loudspeaker is activated, or the music stand is connected to the phone. Calls are limited to a closed user group. The timed profile is selected. , , , or A headset, hands-free, loopset, or music stand enhancement is connected to the phone. ■ Keypad lock (keyguard) To prevent the keys from being accidentally pressed, select Menu, and press * within 3.5 seconds to lock the keypad; or close the slide, and select Lock.
Call functions 3. Call functions ■ Make a voice call 1. Enter the phone number, including the area code. For international calls, press twice for the international prefix * (the + character replaces the international access code), enter the country code, the area code without the leading 0, if necessary, and the phone number. 2. To call the number, press the call key. 3. To end the call, or to cancel the call attempt, press the end key.
Call functions Make a voice dialing call If an application is sending or receiving data using a packet data connection, end the application before you use voice dialing. Voice commands are language-dependent. To set the language, see Voice playback language in “Phone,” p. 70. Note: Using voice tags may be difficult in a noisy environment or during an emergency, so you should not rely solely upon voice dialing in all circumstances. 1. In the standby mode, press and hold the right selection key.
Call functions ■ Options during a voice call Many of the options that you can use during a call are network services. For availability, contact your network operator or service provider. Call options are Mute or Unmute, Address book, Menu, Lock keypad, Record, Loudspeaker, or Handset.
Write text 4. Write text You can enter text (for example, when writing messages) using traditional or predictive text input. To use traditional text input, press a number key, 1 to 9, repeatedly until the desired character appears. In predictive text input you can enter a letter with a single keypress. When you write text, or appears at the top left of the display, appears, indicating traditional indicating predictive text input, and text input.
Write text ■ Predictive text input Predictive text input allows you to write text quickly using the phone keypad and a built-in dictionary. 1. Start writing a word using the 2 to 9 keys. Press each key only once for one letter. The phone displays * or the letter if it separately has a meaning as a word. The entered letters are displayed underlined. If you selected Word suggestions as prediction type, the phone starts to predict the word you are writing.
Navigate the menus 5. Navigate the menus The phone offers you an extensive range of functions, which are grouped into menus. 1. To access the menu, select Menu. To change the menu view, select Options > Main menu view > List, Grid, Grid with labels, or Tab. To rearrange the menu, scroll to the menu you want to move, and select Options > Organize > Move. Scroll to where you want to move the menu, and select OK. To save the change, select Done > Yes. 2.
Instant messaging (IM) 6. Instant messaging (IM) Instant messages are short messages exchanged in real time with friends and family, regardless of whether they are using their IM-capable phone or a PC, as long as they all use the same IM service. With IM, you can see who is offline, busy, and who is online and available to chat. Before you can use IM, you must subscribe to the service.
Instant messaging (IM) ■ IM menus Offline menu When you select IM from your phone menu, a list of available IM services is displayed. Select the desired IM service to access the offline menu options: Login, Saved conversations, and Settings. Depending on the IM service provider you are using, these may not be the exact menu items displayed.
Instant messaging (IM) To begin an IM session, do the following: 1. From the IM online menu, select IM contacts. 2. Select a contact who is online. A conversation menu is opened, and the contact’s name is displayed at the top. 3. Enter a message. When you finish the message, select OK.
Instant messaging (IM) Add a new contact To add a contact during an IM session, select Menu > Add contact > OK. Enter a nickname and select OK. To add a new contact from the IM online menu, select Menu > Add contact. Enter the contact’s user name for the IM service, and select OK. Enter a nickname for the contact, and select OK. Remove a contact From the IM online menu, select IM contacts and the contact you wish to remove, and select Menu > Remove contact > OK.
Instant messaging (IM) ■ Log off service Exit IM From the IM online menu, you can exit the IM application but still be connected to the IM service. Select Back until the IM online menu appears; then select Exit. If you open IM again, you do not need to log in again. You can receive instant messages and chat invitations from your contacts when using your phone for other purposes, such as playing a game.
Messaging 7. Messaging You can read, write, send, and save text, multimedia, e-mail, and audio messages. All messages are organized into folders. ■ Text messages (SMS) With the short message service (SMS) you can send and receive text messages, and receive messages that can contain pictures (network service). Before you can send any text or SMS e-mail message, you must save your message center number. See “Message settings,” p. 39.
Messaging 4. To send the message, select Send; or press the call key. See “Send a multimedia message,” p. 36. Read and reply to an SMS message 1 message received, or the number of new messages with N messages received are shown when you have received a message. 1. To view a new message, select Show. To view it later, select Exit. To read the message later, select Menu > Messaging > Inbox. If more than one message is received, select the message you want to read.
Messaging To check availability and to subscribe to the multimedia messaging network service, contact your network operator or service provider. See “Multimedia message,” p. 40. A multimedia message can contain text, sound, pictures, video clips, a business card, and a calendar note. If the message is too large, the phone may not be able to receive it. Some networks allow text messages that include an Internet address where you can view the multimedia message.
Messaging 3. To view the message before sending it, select Options > Preview. 4. Enter the recipient’s phone number in the To: field. To retrieve a phone number from Address Book, select Add > Contact. To send the message to multiple recipients, add the desired contacts one by one. To send the message to persons in a group, select Contact group and the desired group. To retrieve the contacts to which you recently sent messages, select Add > Recently used.
Messaging Read and reply to a multimedia message Important: Exercise caution when opening messages. Multimedia message objects may contain malicious software or otherwise be harmful to your device or PC. Multimedia message received or the number of new messages with N messages received is shown when you receive a new multimedia message. 1. To read the message, select Show. To view it later, select Exit. To read the message later, select Menu > Messaging > Inbox.
Messaging ■ Folders The phone saves received messages in the Inbox folder. Messages that have not yet been sent are saved in the Outbox folder. To set the phone to save the sent messages in the Sent folder, see Save sent messages in “General,” p. 39. To save the message that you are writing and want to send later in the Drafts folder, select Menu > Messaging > Drafts. You can move your messages to the Saved items folder.
Messaging ■ Service commands Select Menu > Messaging > Service commands. Write and send service requests (also known as USSD commands), such as activation commands for network services, to your service provider. ■ Delete messages To delete messages one by one, select Menu > Messaging > Delete messages > By message and the folder from which you want to delete messages. Scroll to the desired message, and select Delete. If one or more messages are marked, select Mark.
Messaging Text message and SMS e-mail The text message settings affect the sending, receiving, and viewing of messages. Select Menu > Messaging > Message settings > Text and from the following options: Delivery reports > On—to ask the network to send delivery reports about your messages (network service) Message centers > Add center—to set the phone number and name of the message center that is required for sending text messages. You receive this number from your service provider.
Messaging Default slide timing—to define the default time between slides in multimedia messages Incoming multim. msgs.—to allow the reception of multimedia messages automatically, manually after being prompted, or to decline the reception. This setting is not shown if Allow multimedia recept. is set to No. Allow advertisements—to receive or decline advertisements. This setting is not shown if Allow multimedia recept. is set to No, or Incoming multim. msgs. is set to Reject.
Recent calls 8. Recent calls To view the information on your calls, select Menu > Recent Calls > Missed calls, Calls received, or Calls made. To view your recent missed and received calls and the dialed numbers chronologically, select Recent calls. To view the contacts to whom you most recently sent messages, select Message recipients. To view the approximate information on your recent communications, select Menu > Recent Calls > Call time, Packet data counter, or Packet data timer.
MEdia Net 9. MEdia Net You can access various mobile Internet services with your phone browser. Important: Use only services that you trust and that offer adequate security and protection against harmful software. Check the availability of these services, pricing, tariffs, and instructions with your service provider. With the phone browser you can view the services that use wireless markup language (WML) or extensible hypertext markup language (XHTML) on their pages.
MEdia Net 2. Select Configuration. Only the configurations that support browsing service are shown. Select a service provider, Default, or Cingular for browsing. See “Set up browsing,” p. 43. 3. Select Account and a browsing service account contained in the active configuration settings. 4. Select Display terminal window > Yes to perform manual user authentication for intranet connections.
MEdia Net Options while browsing Select from the following options: MEdia Net—to return to your start page Shortcuts—to open a new list of options that are specific to the page. This option is only available if the page contains shortcuts. Add bookmark—to save the page as a bookmark Bookmarks—to access the list of bookmarks. See “Bookmarks,” p. 45.
MEdia Net Receive a bookmark When you have received a bookmark that is sent as a bookmark, 1 bookmark received is displayed. To save the bookmark, select Show > Save. To view or delete the bookmark, select Options > View or Delete. To discard the bookmark directly after you have received the bookmark, select Exit > OK.
MEdia Net ■ Security settings Cookies A cookie is data that a site saves in the cache memory of your phone. Cookies are saved until you clear the cache memory. See “Cache memory,” p. 48. While browsing, select Options > Other options > Security > Cookie settings; or in the standby mode, select Menu > MEdia Net > Settings > Security settings > Cookies. To allow or prevent the phone from receiving cookies, select Allow or Reject.
MEdia Net To access the Service inbox while browsing, select Options > Other options > Service inbox. Scroll to the message you want, and to activate the browser and download the marked content, select Retrieve. To display detailed information on the service notification or to delete the message, select Options > Details or Delete. Service inbox settings Select Menu > MEdia Net > Settings > Service inbox settings. To set whether you want to receive service messages, select Service messages > On or Off.
MEdia Net Security module The security module improves security services for applications requiring a browser connection, and allows you to use a digital signature. The security module may contain certificates as well as private and public keys. The certificates are saved in the security module by the service provider. To view or change the security module settings, select Menu > Settings > Security > Security module settings.
MEdia Net Digital signature You can make digital signatures with your phone if your SmartChip has a security module. Using the digital signature can be the same as signing your name to a paper bill, contract, or other document. To make a digital signature, select a link on a page, for example, the title of the book you want to buy and its price. The text to sign is shown, which may include the amount and date. Check that the header text is Read and that the digital signature icon is shown.
Cingular Video 10. Cingular Video Cingular Video brings you quick, on-demand access to crystal clear news, sports, weather and entertainment video clips. Look for the 3G beside the signal bars on your phone to determine network icon if you are in the Cingular Video coverage area. To access Cingular Video, select Menu > Cingular Video, a category, and a clip to play. For more information, and to subscribe to this service, please contact Cingular.
Games & Apps 11. Games & Apps ■ Games Your phone software includes some games. Launch a game Select Menu > Games & Apps > Games. Scroll to the desired game, and select Open, or press the call key. For options related to a game, see “Some application options,” p. 53. Game downloads Select Menu > Games & Apps > Options > Downloads > Game downloads. The list of available bookmarks is shown. Select More bookmarks to access the list of bookmarks in the MEdia Net menu; see “Bookmarks,” p. 45.
Games & Apps Some application options Delete—to delete the application from the phone Details—to give additional information about the application Update version—to check if a new version of the application is available for download from MEdia Net (network service) Web page—to provide further information or additional data for the application from an Internet page (network service). It is only shown if an Internet address has been provided with the application.
Games & Apps Calculator The calculator in your phone adds, subtracts, multiplies, divides, calculates the square and the square root, and converts currency values. Note: This calculator has limited accuracy and is designed for simple calculations. Select Menu > Games & Apps > Collection, scroll to Calculator, and select Open. When 0 is displayed on the screen, enter the first number in the calculation. Press # for a decimal point.
My Stuff 12. My Stuff In this menu you can manage graphics, images, audio, and tones. These files are arranged in folders. Your phone supports an activation key system to protect acquired content. Always check the delivery terms of any content and activation key before acquiring them, as they may be subject to a fee. If a miniSD memory card is inserted in the phone, some of the files stored in My Stuff can be stored on the memory card.
Address Book 13. Address Book You can save names and phone numbers (contacts) in the phone memory and in the SmartChip memory. The phone memory may save contacts with additional details, such as various phone numbers and text items. You can also save an image or a video clip for a limited number of contacts. You can also use the video clip saved with a contact as a tone for the contact. The SmartChip memory can save names with one phone number attached to them.
Address Book 2. Find the contact to which you want to add a new number or text item, and select Details > Options > Add detail. 3. To add a number, select Number and a number type. To add another detail, select a text type, an image or a video clip from My Stuff, or a new image. To change the number type, scroll to the desired number, and select Options > Change type. To set the selected number as the primary number, select Set as default. 4. Enter the number or text item; to save it, select Save.
Address Book ■ Business cards You can send and receive a person’s contact information from a compatible device that supports the vCard standard as a business card. To send a business card, find the contact whose information you want to send, and select Details > Options > Send business card > Via multimedia, Via text message, Via infrared, or Via Bluetooth. When you receive a business card, select Show > Save to save the business card in the phone memory. To discard the business card, select Exit > Yes.
Address Book Select Assign, or if a number has already been assigned to the key, select Options > Change. Select Find and the contact you want to assign. If the Speed dialing function is off, the phone asks whether you want to activate it. See also Speed dialing in “Call,” p. 69. To make a call using the speed dialing keys, see “Speed dialing,” p. 22.
Settings 14. Settings ■ Profiles Your phone has various setting groups, called profiles, for which you can customize the phone tones for different events and environments. Select Menu > Settings > Set profile and the desired profile. Select from the following options: Activate—to activate the selected profile Customize—to customize the profile. Select the setting you want to change, and make the changes. Timed—to set the profile to be active until a certain time up to 24 hours, and set the end time.
Settings ■ Display With display settings you can customize your phone display view. Standby settings Select Menu > Settings > Display > Standby mode settings and from the following options: Active standby > My active standby—to display the active standby. Select Options and from the following options: • Personalize—to change the content • Organize—to reorganize the content on the display • Enabling active standby—to change the key for accessing the navigation mode.
Settings Font size To set the font size for reading and writing messages, and viewing the address book and Web pages, select Menu > Settings > Display > Font size. ■ Time and date To change the time and date settings, and to set the phone to show or hide the time and date in the standby mode, select Menu > Settings > Set time/date > Clock, Date, or Auto-update of date/time (network service). ■ My shortcuts With personal shortcuts you get quick access to often used functions of the phone.
Settings Navigation key To select shortcut functions for the scroll keys, select Menu > Settings > My shortcuts > Navigation key. Scroll to the desired key, select Change and a function from the list. To remove a shortcut function from the key, select (empty). To reassign a function for the key, select Assign. See “Standby mode shortcuts,” p. 19.
Settings Bluetooth wireless technology This device is compliant with Bluetooth Specification 2.0 supporting the following profiles: hands-free, headset, object push profile, file transfer profile, dial-up networking profile, SmartChip access profile, serial port profile, and human interface device profile. To ensure interoperability between other devices supporting Bluetooth technology, use Nokia approved enhancements for this model.
Settings Bluetooth wireless connection Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth. To check which Bluetooth connection is currently active, select Active devices. To view a list of Bluetooth devices that are currently paired with the phone, select Paired devices. Select Options to access available options depending on the status of the device and the Bluetooth connection. Select Connect > Assign short name or Auto-conn. without conf..
Settings If data transfer is not started within 2 minutes after the activation of the IR port, the connection is canceled and must be started again. IR connection indicator When is shown continuously, the IR connection is activated, and your phone is ready to send or receive data through its IR port. When blinks, your phone is trying to connect to the other device, or a connection has been lost.
Settings When needed—to register and establish a packet data connection when an application using packet data needs it, and to close the connection when you end the application. Packet data settings You can connect the phone using Bluetooth wireless technology, infrared, or USB data cable connection to a compatible PC and use the phone as a modem to enable EGPRS connectivity from the PC.
Settings To add a new partner to the list (for example, a new device), select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Data transfer > Options > Add transfer contact > Phone synchronization or Phone copy, and enter the settings according to the transfer type. To edit the copy and synchronize settings, select a contact from the partner list and Options > Edit. To delete a partner, select a contact from the partner list and Options > Delete, and confirm Delete transfer contact? .
Settings Synchronize from a server To use a remote Internet server, you must subscribe to a synchronization service. For more information and the settings required for this service, contact your service provider. You may receive the settings as a configuration message. See “Configuration settings service,” p. 10 and “Configuration,” p. 71. If you have saved data on the remote Internet server, to synchronize your phone, start the synchronization from your phone.
Settings Anykey answer > On—to answer an incoming call, briefly press any key, except the power key, the left and right selection keys, or the end key Automatic redial > On—to make a maximum of 10 attempts to connect the call after an unsuccessful call attempt Speed dialing > On—to dial the names and phone numbers assigned to the speed dialing keys 2 to 9, press and hold the corresponding number key Call waiting > Activate—to have the network notify you of an incoming call while you have a call in progress
Settings When the keyguard is on, calls still may be possible to the official emergency number programmed into your device. Welcome note—to write the note you would like to be shown briefly when the phone is switched on Network mode > Dual mode, UMTS, or GSM—to select the type of network to use Operator selection > Automatic—to set the phone to automatically select one of the cellular networks available in your area.
Settings Select Menu > Settings > Configuration and from the following options: Default config. settings—to view the service providers saved in the phone. Scroll to a service provider, and select Details to view the applications that the configuration settings of this service provider support. To set the configuration settings of the service provider as default settings, select Options > Set as default. To delete configuration settings, select Delete. Activ. default in all apps.
Settings Security level > Phone—to set the phone to ask for the security code whenever a new SmartChip is inserted into the phone. If you select Memory, the phone asks for the security code when the SmartChip memory is selected, and you want to change the memory in use.
Tools 15. Tools ■ Alarm clock You can set the phone to alarm at a desired time. Select Menu > Tools > Alarm clock. To set the alarm, select Alarm time, enter the alarm time, and select OK. To change the alarm time when the alarm time is set, select On. To set the phone to alert you on selected days of the week, select Repeat alarm. To select the alarm tone or set a radio channel as the alarm tone, select Alarm tone. If you select the radio as an alarm tone, connect the headset to the phone.
Tools ■ Calendar Select Menu > Tools > Calendar. The current day is indicated by a frame in the month view. If there are any notes set for the day, the day is in bold type, and the beginning of the note is shown below the calendar. To view the day notes, select View. To view a week, select Options > Week view. To delete all notes in the calendar, select the month or week view, and select Options > Delete all notes.
Tools ■ To-do list To save a note for a task that you must do, select Menu > Tools > To-do list. To make a note if no note is added, select Add; otherwise, select Options > Add. Write the note, select Save and the priority, and set the deadline and alarm for the note. To view a note, scroll to it, and select View. You can also select an option to delete the selected note and delete all the notes that you have marked as done.
Tools If the alarm time is reached when the phone is in the standby mode, the phone sounds a tone and flashes the note text if it is set or Countdown completed. To stop the alarm, press any key. If no key is pressed, the alarm automatically stops within 30 seconds. To stop the alarm and delete the note text, select Exit. Multimedia 16. Multimedia ■ Camera You can take photos or record video clips with the built-in 1 megapixel camera. The camera produces pictures in .jpg format and video clips in .3gp format, and you can zoom up to eight times. Take a photo 1. To open the camera viewfinder, select Menu > Multimedia > Camera. If Video is selected as the default mode, select Options > Still image. To zoom in or out, press the volume key up or down. To take up to four photos in quick succession, select Options > Img.

The full performance of a new battery is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it will eventually wear out. When the talk and standby times are noticeably shorter than normal, replace the battery.

El código PUK2 se requiere para cambiar un código PIN2 bloqueado. Si los códigos no son facilitados con la tarjeta SmartChip, comuníquese con su proveedor de servicios para solicitarlos.

Hacer una llamada de marcación por voz Si una aplicación está enviando o recibiendo datos a través de una conexión de datos de paquete, finalice la aplicación antes de usar la marcación por voz. Los comandos de voz dependen del idioma.

Escribir texto 4. Escribir texto Puede ingresar texto (por ejemplo, cuando está escribiendo mensajes) usando el ingreso de texto tradicional o predictivo. Cuando utilice el ingreso de texto tradicional, pulse una tecla numérica, de la 1 a la 9, repetidamente hasta que aparezca la letra deseada. En la modalidad de ingreso de texto predictivo, puede ingresar una letra con un solo tecleo.
Escribir texto 1. Empiece a escribir una palabra usando las teclas de la 2 a la 9. Pulse cada tecla sólo una vez por letra. El teléfono muestra * o la letra, si ésta tiene un significado como una palabra por separado. Las letras ingresadas aparecen resaltadas. Si selecciona Sugerencia de palabras como tipo de predicción, el teléfono empezará a predecir la palabra que está escribiendo.
Navegar por los menús 5. Navegar por los menús El teléfono ofrece una amplia gama de funciones agrupadas en menús. 1. Para acceder al menú, seleccione Menú. Para cambiar la vista del menú, seleccione Opciones > Vista menú principal > Lista, Cuadrícula, Cuadrícula con etiquetas o Lengüeta. Para reorganizar el menú, desplácese al menú que desea mover y seleccione Opciones > Organizar > Mover. Desplácese hacia donde desea mover el menú y seleccione OK. Para guardar el cambio, seleccione Listo > Sí. 2.

Mensajería instantánea (MI) Los mensajes instantáneos son mensajes cortos comunicados en tiempo real con amigos y familiares, sin importar si están usando su teléfono o PC compatible con MI, siempre y cuando utilicen el mismo servicio MI. Con MI, puede ver quién está desconectado, ocupado y quién está en línea y disponible para chatear. Antes de poder utilizar MI, deberá suscribirse al servicio.
Mensajería instantánea (MI) ■ Menús MI Menú desconectado Cuando selecciona MI del menú de su teléfono, aparece una lista de los servicios MI disponibles. Seleccione el servicio MI deseado para acceder a las opciones del menú desconectado: Iniciar sesión, Conversaciones guardadas y Configuraciones. Dependiendo del proveedor de servicios MI que está usando, es posible que estos no sean los mismos menús mostrados.
Mensajería instantánea (MI) ■ Iniciar una sesión MI Puede enviar mensajes instantáneos a cualquier persona si tiene su nombre de usuario y usa su mismo servicio MI. Cuando está en la conversación, el mensaje más reciente aparece en la parte inferior del menú y los mensajes anteriores se mueven un nivel hacia arriba (algunos servicios MI pueden hacer esto en la dirección contraria). Mensajería 2. Ingrese su mensaje. Su teléfono admite mensajes multimedia que contienen varias páginas (diapositivas). Un mensaje puede contener una nota de agenda y una tarjeta de negocios como archivos adjuntos. Una diapositiva puede contener texto, una imagen y un clip de sonido; o texto y un videoclip. Para insertar una diapositiva en el mensaje, seleccione Nueva o seleccione Opciones > Insertar > Diapositiva. Para insertar un archivo en el mensaje, seleccione Insertar u Opciones > Insertar.
Mensajería El envío de un mensaje multimedia tarda más que el de un mensaje de texto. Mientras el mensaje está siendo enviado, puede usar otras funciones del teléfono. En caso de alguna interrupción durante la transmisión del mensaje, el teléfono tratará de reenviarlo unas cuantas veces. Si estos intentos fallan, el mensaje se queda en la carpeta Buzón de salida. Para acceder al Buzón de servicio en el modo standby, cuando reciba un mensaje de servicio, seleccione Mostrar. Si selecciona Salir, el mensaje será movido a Buzón de servicio.
MEdia Net Para vaciar la memoria caché mientras navega, seleccione Opciones > Otras opciones > Borrar caché; en el modo standby, seleccione Menú > Web > Borrar caché. ■ Seguridad del navegador Se pueden requerir funciones de seguridad para ciertos servicios, como el acceso en línea a cuentas bancarias o de compras en línea. Para tales conexiones, necesita certificados de seguridad y posiblemente un módulo de seguridad, el cual podría estar disponible en su tarjeta SmartChip.
MEdia Net Hay tres tipos de certificados: certificados de servidor, autoridad y usuario. Puede recibir estos certificados de su proveedor de servicios. Los certificados de autoridad y de usuario también pueden ser guardados en el módulo de seguridad por el proveedor de servicios. Para ver las lista de certificados de autoridad y usuario descargados en su teléfono, seleccione Menú > Configuraciones > Seguridad > Certificados de autoridad o Certificados de usuario.
Cingular Video 10. Cingular Video Cingular Video le brinda acceso directo a noticias, deportes, estado del tiempo y videoclips de entretenimiento. Búsque el icono de la red junto a la barras de señal en su teléfono para determinar si se encuentra dentro del área de cobertura de Cingular Video. Juegos y aplicaciones Calculadora La calculadora de su teléfono suma, resta, multiplica, divide, calcula el cuadrado y la raíz cuadrada y convierte divisas. Nota: Esta calculadora tiene precisión limitada y está diseñada para cálculos sencillos. Seleccione Menú > Aplic. > Colección, desplácese a Calculadora y seleccione Abrir. Cuando aparezca 0 en la pantalla, ingrese el primer número de la operación. Pulse # para ingresar un punto decimal.
Galería 12. Galería En este menú puede manejar gráficos, imágenes, audio y tonos. Estos archivos han sido organizados en carpetas. Su teléfono admite el sistema de clave de activación para proteger el contenido adquirido. Siempre revise los datos de entrega de cualquier contenido y clave de activación antes de adquirirlos; puede que no sean gratuitos. Si hay una tarjeta de memoria miniSD insertada en el teléfono, algunos de los archivos guardados en Galería pueden ser guardados en la tarjeta de memoria.
Guía 13. Guía Puede guardar nombres y números telefónicos (contactos) en la memoria del teléfono y en la memoria SmartChip. La memoria del teléfono puede guardar contactos con detalles adicionales, como varios números telefónicos y elementos de texto. También puede guardar una imagen o un videoclip para ciertos contactos. También puede usar el videoclip guardado con un contacto como un tono para el contacto. La memoria SmartChip puede guardar nombres con un número telefónico.
Guía 2. Desplácese al contacto al cual desea agregar un nuevo número o elemento de texto y seleccione Detalles > Opciones > Agregar detalles. 3. Cuando descarta una imagen de los contactos ésta no se borra de Galería. ■ Tarjetas de negocios Puede enviar y recibir, como una tarjeta de negocios, la información de contacto de una persona de un dispositivo compatible que admita el estándar vCard.
Guía ■ Grupos Seleccione Menú > Guía > Grupos para organizar los nombres y números telefónicos guardados en la memoria en grupos de llamantes con diferentes tonos de timbre e imágenes de grupo. ■ Marcación rápida Para asignar un número a una tecla de marcación rápida, seleccione Menú > Guía > Marcación rápida y desplácese al número de marcación rápida que desea. Seleccione Asignar o bien, si un número ya ha sido asignado a una tecla, seleccione Opciones > Cambiar.

Desplácese al grupo de llamantes deseado o Todas llamadas y seleccione Marcar. ■ Pantalla Con las configuraciones de pantalla puede personalizar la pantalla de su teléfono. Configuraciones standby Seleccione Menú > Configurac. > Pantalla > Config.
Configuraciones más protectores de pantalla, seleccione Descargas gráficos. Para programar la hora tras la cual se activa el protector de pantalla, seleccione Tiempo de espera. Para activar el protector de pantalla, seleccione Activar. Ahorro de energía Para ahorrar energía de la batería, seleccione Menú > Cofigurac. > Pantalla > Ahorro de energía. Se muestra un reloj digital cuando no se usan las funciones del teléfono tras el lapso de un período de tiempo.
Configuraciones Organizar: para reorganizar las funciones en su lista de accesos directos personales. Desplácese hasta la función que desea mover y seleccione Mover. Desplácese a la ubicación a donde desea mover la función y seleccione OK. Tecla de selección derecha Para seleccionar de la lista una función para la tecla de selección derecha, seleccione Menú > Configurac. > Mis accesos directos > Tecla selección derecha. Dispositivos acoplados: para buscar cualquier dispositivo Bluetooth dentro del área de alcance.
Configuraciones Infrarrojos Puede configurar su teléfono para enviar y recibir datos vía su puerto infrarrojo (IR). Para utilizar una conexión IR, el dispositivo con el cual desea establecer una conexión debe ser un dispositivo compatible con IrDA. Puede enviar o recibir datos de un teléfono o dispositivo para datos compatible (por ejemplo, una computadora) a través del puerto IR de su teléfono.
Configuraciones Enhanced GPRS (EGPRS) es parecido al sistema GPRS pero facilita conexiones más rápidas. Para obtener más información sobre la disponibilidad de EGPRS y la velocidad de transferencia de datos, comuníquese con su proveedor de servicios. Las aplicaciones que pueden usar WCDMA o (E)GPRS son MMS, streaming de video, sesiones de navegación, e-mail, SyncML remoto, descarga de aplicaciones Java y conexión telefónica mediante una PC.
Configuraciones punto de acceso, ingrese un nombre para cambiar las configuraciones de punto de acceso, y seleccione OK. Seleccione Pto. acceso paquete datos, ingrese el nombre del punto de acceso (APN) para establecer una conexión a una red EGPRS y seleccione OK. También puede programar en su PC las configuraciones de servicios por marcación EGPRS (nombre del punto de acceso) usando el software Nokia Modem Options. Consulte “Nokia PC Suite,” pág. 186.
Configuraciones Transferencia de datos con un dispositivo compatible Para la sincronización, se usa la tecnología inalámbrica Bluetooth o IR. El otro dispositivo está en el modo standby. Para iniciar la transferencia de datos, seleccione Menú > Configurac. > Conectividad > Transferencia de datos y el socio de transferencia de la lista, que no sea Sincronizac. servidor o Sincronización con PC. Dependiendo de las configuraciones, el dato seleccionado es copiado o sincronizado.
Configuraciones Si ha guardado datos en el servidor de Internet remoto, para sincronizar su teléfono, comience la sincronización desde su teléfono. Seleccione Menú > Configurac. > Conectividad > Transferencia de datos > Sincronizac. servidor. Según las configuraciones, seleccione Iniciando sincronización o Iniciando copia. Si la guía de contactos o la agenda están llenas, la sincronización que se hace por primera vez o tras una sincronización interrumpida, podría tomar hasta 30 minutos en completarse.
Configuraciones Cualquier tecla contesta > Activar: para contestar una llamada, pulse brevemente cualquier tecla, excepto la tecla Encender/Apagar o las teclas de selección izquierda y derecha o la tecla Finalizar. Remarcado automático > Activar: para intentar la conexión de la llamada un máximo de 10 veces después de intentar sin éxito.
Configuraciones Bloqueo de seguridad: para que el teléfono solicite el código de seguridad cuando el bloqueo del teclado sea desactivado. Ingrese el código de seguridad, y seleccione Activar. Bloqueo automático: para configurar el teclado de su teléfono a que se bloquee automáticamente tras un tiempo de espera preconfigurado cuando el teléfono esté en el modo standby y no se haya usado ninguna función del teléfono. Seleccione Activar y configure el tiempo de espera.
Configuraciones ■ Configuración Puede programar su teléfono con las configuraciones que se requieren para que ciertos servicios funcionen debidamente. Estos servicios son mensajería multimedia, mensajería instantánea, sincronización, aplicación de e-mail, streaming y navegador. Su proveedor de servicios también puede enviarle estas configuraciones. Consulte “Servicio de ajustes de configuración,” pág. 108.
Configuraciones ■ Seguridad Cuando se usan funciones de seguridad que restringen las llamadas, (como restricción de llamadas, grupo de usuarios cerrado y marcación fija) aún es posible hacer llamadas al número oficial de emergencia programado en su dispositivo. Seleccione Menú > Configurac. > Seguridad y una de las siguientes opciones: Solicitud de código PIN: para que el teléfono solicite su código PIN cada vez que se encienda.
Organizador 15. Organizador ■ Alarma Puede configurar el teléfono para que emita una alarma a una hora determinada. Seleccione Menú > Organizad. > Alarma. Para fijar la alarma, seleccione Hora de alarma, ingrese la hora par la alarma y seleccione OK. Para cambiar la hora de alarma cuando ya ha sido configurada, seleccione Activar. Seleccione Repetir alarma para configurar el teléfono a avisarle sólo en los días de la semana seleccionados.
Organizador ■ Agenda Seleccione Menú > Organizad. > Agenda. El día actual es indicado por un cuadro en la vista del mes. Si hay notas para el día, el día aparece en negritas y el comienzo de la nota aparece en la parte inferior de la agenda. Para ver las notas del día, seleccione Ver. Para ver una semana, seleccione Opciones > Vista semana. Para eliminar todas las notas en la agenda, seleccione la vista de mes o semana y seleccione Opciones > Eliminar todas las notas.
Organizador Para crear una nota si no ha agregado alguna, seleccione Agregar; de lo contrario, seleccione Opciones > Agregar. Escriba la nota, seleccione Guardar y la prioridad, y programe la fecha límite para la alarma de la nota. Para ver una nota, desplácese a ésta y seleccione Ver. También puede seleccionar una opción para borrar la nota seleccionada y borrar todas las notas que haya marcado como hechas.
Organizador Cuenta regresiva terminada. Para detener la alarma, pulse cualquier tecla. Si no pulsa ninguna tecla, la alarma se detiene automáticamente en 30 segundos. Para detener la alarma y eliminar el texto de la nota, seleccione Salir. La cámara produce imágenes en el formato .jpg y videoclips en el formato .3gp, y puede acercar la imagen (zoom) hasta ocho veces. Tomar una foto 1. Para abrir el visor de la cámara, seleccione Menú > Multimedia > Cámara. Si Video está seleccionado como el modo predeterminado, seleccione Opciones > Imagen fija. Para acercar o alejar la imagen, pulse la tecla de volumen hacia arriba o abajo.

Para hacer una pausa en la grabación, seleccione Pausa; para resumir la grabación, seleccione Continuar. Para detener la grabación, seleccione Parar. El rendimiento óptimo de una batería nueva se obtiene solamente después de dos o tres ciclos completos de carga y descarga. La batería se puede cargar y descargar centenares de veces pero con el tiempo se gastará. Cuando los tiempos de conversación y de reserva sean notablemente más cortos de lo normal, cambie la batería.
