For your safety This device supports WAP 2.0 protocols (HTTP and SSL) that run on TCP/IP protocols. Some features of this device, such as text messages, multimedia messages, audio messages, instant messaging service, e-mail, mobile Internet services, content and application download, and synchronization with a remote Internet server, require network support for these technologies.
General information General information ■ Overview of functions Your phone provides many functions that are practical for daily use, such as a calendar, a clock, an alarm clock, a radio, and a built-in camera. Your phone also supports the following functions: • Enhanced data rates for GSM evolution (EDGE), see “Packet data (EGPRS),” p. 42 • Extensible hypertext markup language (XHTML), see “Web,” p. 57 • Audio messaging, see “Nokia Xpress audio messaging,” p.
General information Restriction password The restriction password (4 digits) is required when using the Call restrictions. See “Security,” p. 44. ■ Configuration settings service To use some of the network services, such as mobile Internet services, MMS, Nokia Xpress audio messaging, or remote Internet server synchronization, your phone needs the correct configuration settings. You may be able to receive the settings directly as a configuration message.
Get started 1. Get started ■ Open the fold When you open the fold of the phone, it opens up to approximately 155 degrees. Do not try to force the fold open more. ■ Install the SIM card and the battery Always switch the device off and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. Keep all SIM cards out of the reach of small children. For availability and information on using SIM card services, contact your SIM card vendor. This may be the service provider, network operator, or other vendor.
Get started Insert the SIM card (5). Make sure that the SIM card is properly inserted, and that the golden contact area on the card is facing downwards. Close the SIM card holder (6) and press it until it snaps into position. Replace the battery (7). Observe the battery contacts. Always use original Nokia batteries. See “Nokia battery authentication guidelines,” p. 68. Slide the back cover into its place (8, 9).
Get started ■ Normal operating position Use the phone only in its normal operating position. Your device has an external antenna. Note: As with any other radio transmitting device, do not touch the antenna unnecessarily when the device is switched on. Contact with the antenna affects call quality and may cause the device to operate at a higher power level than otherwise needed. Avoiding contact with the antenna area when operating the device optimizes the antenna performance and the battery life.

Your phone ■ Standby mode When the phone is ready for use, and you have not entered any characters, the phone is in the standby mode.
Your phone Shortcuts in the standby mode • To access the list of dialed numbers, press the call key once. Scroll to the number or name that you want; and to call the number, press the call key. • To open the web browser, press and hold 0. • To call your voice mailbox, press and hold 1. • Use the navigation key as a shortcut. See “My shortcuts,” p. 39. Power saving A digital clock view overwrites the display when no function of the phone has been used for a certain period of time.
Your phone ■ Keypad lock (keyguard) To prevent the keys from being accidentally pressed, select Menu, and press * within 3.5 seconds to lock the keypad. To unlock the keypad, select Unlock, and press *. If the Security keyguard is set On, enter the security code if requested. To answer a call when the keyguard is on, press the call key. When you end or reject the call, the keypad automatically locks. For Automatic keyguard and Security keyguard, see “Phone,” p. 41.
Call functions 3. Call functions ■ Make a call 1. Enter the phone number, including the area code. For international calls, press * twice for the international prefix (the + character replaces the international access code) and then enter the country code, the area code without the leading 0, if necessary, and the phone number. 2. To call the number, press the call key. 3. To end the call or to cancel the call attempt, press the end key, or close the phone.
Call functions Call waiting To answer the waiting call during an active call, press the call key. The first call is put on hold. To end the active call, press the end key. To activate the Call waiting function, see “Call,” p. 40. ■ Options during a call Many of the options that you can use during a call are network services. For availability, contact your network operator or service provider.
Write text 4. Write text You can enter text (for example, when writing messages) using traditional or predictive text input. When using traditional text input, press a number key, 1 to 9, repeatedly until the desired character appears. In predictive text input you can enter a letter with a single keypress. When you are writing text, predictive text input is indicated by text input by at the top left of the display. , , or to the text input indicator, indicating the character case.
Write text Write compound words Enter the first part of the word, and press the navigation key right to confirm it. Write the last part of the word, and confirm the word. ■ Traditional text input Press a number key, 1 to 9, repeatedly until the desired character appears. Not all characters available under a number key are printed on the key. The characters available depend on the writing language. See “Settings,” p. 22.
Navigate the menus 5. Navigate the menus The phone offers you an extensive range of functions, which are grouped into menus. 1. To access the menu, select Menu. To change the menu view, select Options > Main menu view > List or Grid. 2. Scroll through the menu, and select a submenu (for example, Settings). 3. If the menu contains submenus, select the one that you want (for example, Call). 4. If the selected menu contains further submenus, select the one that you want (for example, Anykey answer). 5.
Messages 6. Messages The message services can only be used if they are supported by your network or your service provider. Note: When sending messages, your phone may display the words Message sent. This is an indication that the message has been sent by your device to the message center number programmed into your device. This is not an indication that the message has been received at the intended destination. For more details about messaging services, check with your service provider.
Messages 3. To send the message, select Send > Recently used, To phone number, To many, or To e-mail address. To send a message using a predefined message profile, select Via sending profile. For the message profile, see “Text and SMS e-mail,” p. 30. Select or enter a phone number or profile. Read and reply to an SMS message is shown when you received an SMS message or an SMS e-mail. The blinking indicates that the message memory is full.
Messages A multimedia message can contain text, sound, a picture, a calendar note, a business card, or a video clip. If the message is too large, the phone may not be able to receive it. Some networks allow text messages that include an Internet address where you can view the multimedia message. You cannot receive multimedia messages during a call, a game, another Java application, or an active browsing session over GSM data.
Messages 4. Select the contact from the list, or enter the recipient’s phone number or e-mail address, or search for it in Contacts. Select OK. The message is moved to the Outbox folder for sending. While the multimedia message is being sent, the animated indicator is displayed and you can use other functions on the phone. If the sending fails, the phone tries to resend it a few times. If this fails, the message remains in the Outbox folder, and you can try to resend it later.
Messages When a new multimedia message is waiting, and the memory for the messages is full, blinks and Multimedia memory full. View waiting msg. is shown. To view the waiting message, select Show. Before you can save the waiting message, delete old messages to free memory space. To save the message, select Save. To discard the waiting message, select Exit > Yes. If you select No, you can view the message. ■ Folders The phone saves received text and multimedia messages in the Inbox folder.
Messages Select the contact from the list, or enter the recipient’s phone number or e-mail address, or search for it in Contacts. Select OK. The message is moved to the Outbox folder for sending. ■ Voice messages The voice mailbox is a network service and you may need to subscribe to it. For details, contact your service provider. To call your voice mailbox, select Menu > Messages > Voice messages > Listen to voice messages.
Messages The following options may be available: Message center number (delivered from your service provider), Messages sent via, Message validity, Default recipient number (text messages), or E-mail server (e-mail), Delivery reports, Use packet data, Reply via same center (network service) and Rename sending profile. Save sent messages > Yes — Set the phone to save the sent text messages in the Sent items folder.
Messages Other settings To select other settings for messages, select Menu > Messages > Message settings > Other settings. To change the font size for reading and writing messages, select Font size. To replace character-based smileys with graphical ones, select Graphical smileys > Yes. ■ Message counter Select Menu > Messages > Message counter for approximate information on your recent communications.
Contacts 7. Contacts You can save names and phone numbers (Contacts) in the phone memory and in the SIM card memory. The phone memory may save contacts with numbers and text items. You can also save an image for a certain number of names. Names and numbers saved in the SIM card memory are indicated by . ■ Search for a contact Select Menu > Contacts > Names > Options > Find. Scroll through the list of contacts or enter the first letter of the name for which you are searching.
Contacts ■ Copy contacts Search for the contact you want to copy, and select Options > Copy. You can copy names and phone numbers from the phone contact memory to the SIM card memory, or vice versa. The SIM card memory can save names with one phone number attached to them. ■ Edit contact details 1. Search for the contact you want to edit, select Details, and scroll to the desired name, number, text item, or image. 2.
Contacts ■ Groups Select Menu > Contacts > Groups to arrange the names and phone numbers saved in the memory into caller groups with different ringing tones and group images. ■ Voice dialing You can make a phone call by saying a voice tag that has been added to a phone number. Any spoken words, such as a name, can be a voice tag. The number of voice tags you can create is limited. Before using voice tags, note the following: • Voice tags are not language-dependent.
Contacts Make a call with a voice tag If the phone has an application running that is sending or receiving data using a GPRS connection, you must end the application before voice dialing. 1. In the standby mode, press and hold the volume down key. A short tone is heard, and Speak now is displayed. 2. Say the voice tag clearly. The phone plays the recognized voice tag, and dials the phone number of the voice tag after 1.5 seconds.
Call log 8. Call log The phone registers the phone numbers of identified missed, received, and dialed calls; the message recipients; and the approximate length of your calls. The phone registers if it is switched on and within the network’s service area, and the network supports these functions.
Settings 9. Settings ■ Profiles Your phone has various setting groups, called profiles, for which you can customize the phone tones for different events and environments. Select Menu > Settings > Profiles, and a profile. To activate the selected profile, select Activate. To set the profile to be active until a certain time up to 24 hours, select Timed and set the time the profile setting shall end. When the time set for the profile expires, the previous profile that was not timed, becomes active.
Settings ■ My shortcuts With personal shortcuts, you get quick access to often used functions of the phone. To manage the shortcuts, select Menu > Settings > My shortcuts and from the following options: Right selection key — to select a function from the list for the right selection key. See also “Standby mode,” p. 17. This menu may not be shown, depending on your service provider. Navigation key — to select shortcut functions for the navigation key.
Settings ■ Mini display Select Menu > Settings > Mini display settings. You can change the settings for Wallpaper, Screen saver, Power saver, and Color schemes.
Settings ■ Phone Select Menu > Settings > Phone and from the following options: Phone language — to set the display and writing language Memory status — to view the free memory and the used memory in Gallery, Messages and Applications Automatic keyguard — to set the keypad of your phone to lock automatically after a preset time delay when the phone is in the standby mode and no function of the phone has been used. Select On, and you can set the time from 5 seconds to 60 minutes.
Settings When sending or receiving data, ensure that the IR ports of the sending and receiving devices are pointing at each other and that there are no obstructions between the devices. To activate the IR port of your phone to receive data using IR, select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Infrared. To deactivate the IR connection, select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Infrared. When the phone displays Deactivate infrared?, select Yes.
Settings You can also set the dial-up service settings (access point name) on your PC using the Nokia Modem Options software. See “PC Suite,” p. 65. If you have set the settings both on the PC and on your phone, the PC settings are used. ■ Enhancements This menu is shown only if the phone is or has been connected to a compatible mobile enhancement. Select Menu > Settings > Enhancements. You can select an enhancement menu if the corresponding enhancement is, or has been, connected to the phone.
Settings Connect to service provider support — to download the configuration settings from your service provider Personal configuration settings — to add new personal accounts for various services manually, and to activate or delete them. To add a new personal account if you have not added any, select Add new; otherwise, select Options > Add new. Select the service type, and select and enter each of the required parameters. The parameters differ according to the selected service type.
Operator menu 10. Operator menu This menu lets you access a portal to services provided by your network operator. The name and the icon depend on the operator. For more information contact your network operator. If this menu is not shown the following menu numbers change accordingly. The operator can update this menu with a service message. For more information, see “Service inbox,” p. 60.
Gallery 11. Gallery In this menu you can manage graphics, images, recordings, video clips, themes, and tones. These files are arranged in folders. Your phone supports an activation key system to protect acquired content. Always check the delivery terms of any content and activation key before acquiring them, as they may be subject to a fee. Copyright protections may prevent some images, ringing tones, and other content from being copied, modified, transferred, or forwarded.

Media Copyright protections may prevent some images, ringing tones, and other content from being copied, modified, transferred, or forwarded. ■ Camera You can take photos or record video clips with the built-in camera. The camera produces pictures in JPEG format and video clips in 3GP format. When taking and using images or video clips, obey all laws and respect local customs as well as privacy and legitimate rights of others.
Media Save radio channels 1. To start the channel search, select and hold frequency in 0.05 MHz steps, briefly press or or . To change the radio . 2. To save the channel to a memory location, 1 to 9, press and hold the corresponding number key. To save the channel in the memory location from 10 to 20, press briefly 1 or 2, and press and hold the desired number key, 0 to 9. 3. Enter the name of the channel, and select OK. Listen to the radio Select Menu > Media > Radio.
Media Record sound 1. Select Menu > Media > Recorder. To use the graphical keys, , to the desired key, and select it. , or , on the display, scroll left or right 2. To start the recording, select . To start the recording during a call, select Options > Record. While recording a call, all parties to the call hear a faint beeping sound about every 5 seconds. When recording a call, hold the phone in the normal position near to your ear. 3. To end the recording, select .
Organizer 13. Organizer ■ Alarm clock You can set the phone to alarm at a desired time. Select Menu > Organizer > Alarm clock. To set the alarm, select Alarm time, and enter the alarm time. To change the alarm time when the alarm time is set, select On. To set the phone to alert you on selected days of the week, select Repeat alarm. To select the alarm tone or set a radio channel as the alarm tone, select Alarm tone. If you select the radio as an alarm tone, connect the headset to the phone.
Organizer Make a calendar note Select Menu > Organizer > Calendar. Scroll to the date you want, and select Options > Make a note and one of the following note types: Meeting, Call, Birthday, Memo, or Reminder. A note alarm The phone beeps and displays the note. With a call note on the display, to call the displayed number, press the call key. To stop the alarm and to view the note, select View. To stop the alarm for approximately 10 minutes, select Snooze.
Organizer ■ Synchronization Synchronization allows you to save your calendar and Contacts data on a remote Internet server (network service) or on a compatible PC. If you have saved data on the remote Internet server, to synchronize your phone, start the synchronization from your phone. To synchronize the data in the phone contacts, calendar, and notes to correspond with the data of your compatible PC, start the synchronization from the PC. The contact data in your SIM card is not synchronized.
Organizer Synchronize from a compatible PC To synchronize Contacts, Calendar, and Notes from a compatible PC, use an IR, or data cable connection. You also need Nokia PC Suite software of your phone installed on the PC. Start the synchronization from the PC using Nokia PC Suite. ■ Calculator The calculator in your phone adds, subtracts, multiplies, divides, calculates the square and the square root and converts currency values.
Organizer Lap timing — to take lap times. To set the stopwatch timing in the background, press the end key. Continue — to view the timing that you have set in the background Show last time — to view the most recently measured time if the stopwatch is not reset View times or Delete times — to view or delete the saved times ■ Countdown timer Select Menu > Organizer > Timer. Enter the alarm time in hours, minutes, and seconds, and select OK.
Applications 14. Applications ■ Games Your phone software includes some games. Launch a game Select Menu > Applications > Games. Scroll to the desired game, and select Open. For options related to a game, see “Other application options,” p. 55. Game downloads Select Menu > Applications > Options > Downloads > Game downloads. The list of available bookmarks is shown. Select More bookmarks to access the list of bookmarks in the Web menu. See “Bookmarks,” p. 59.
Applications Web page — to provide further information or additional data for the application from an Internet page. This feature must be supported by the network. It is only shown if an Internet address has been provided with the application. App. access — to restrict the application from accessing security relevant functions like network access or access to user data. Different categories are shown.
Web 15. Web You can access various mobile Internet services with your phone browser. Important: Use only services that you trust and that offer adequate security and protection against harmful software. Check the availability of these services, pricing, tariffs, and instructions with your service provider. With the phone browser you can view the services that use wireless markup language (WML) or extensible hypertext markup language (XHTML) on their pages. Appearance may vary due to screen size.
Web ■ Browse pages After you make a connection to the service, you can start browsing its pages. The function of the phone keys may vary in different services. Follow the text guides on the phone display. For more information, contact your service provider. If packet data is selected as the data bearer, is shown on the top left of the display during browsing.
Web Font size > Extra small, Small, or Medium — to set the font size Show images > No — to hide pictures on the page. This can speed up the browsing of pages that contain a lot of pictures. Alerts > Alert for unsecure connection > Yes — to set the phone to alert when an encrypted connection changes to unencrypted during browsing. Alerts > Alert for unsecure items > Yes — to set the phone to alert when an encrypted page contains an unsecure item. These alerts do not guarantee a secure connection.
Web Your device may have some bookmarks loaded for sites not affiliated with Nokia. Nokia does not warrant or endorse these sites. If you choose to access them, you should take the same precautions, for security or content, as you would with any Internet site. Receive a bookmark When you have received a bookmark that is sent as a bookmark, 1 bookmark received is displayed. To save the bookmark, select Show > Save. To view or delete the bookmark, select Options > View or Delete.
Web To set the phone to receive service messages only from content authors approved by the service provider, select Message filter > On. To view the list of the approved content authors, select Trusted channels. To set the phone to automatically activate the browser from the standby mode when the phone has received a service message, select Automatic connection > On. If you select Off, the phone activates the browser only after you select Retrieve when the phone has received a service message.
Web Select Menu > Web > Settings > Security settings > Security module settings and from the following options: Security module details — to show the security module title, status, manufacturer, and serial number Module PIN request — to set the phone to ask for the module PIN when using services provided by the security module. Enter the code, and select On. To disable the module PIN request, select Off. Change module PIN — to change the module PIN, if allowed by the security module.
Web The security icon does not indicate that the data transmission between the gateway and the content server (or place where the requested resource is stored) is secure. The service provider secures the data transmission between the gateway and the content server. Digital signature You can make digital signatures with your phone if your SIM card has a security module. Using the digital signature can be the same as signing your name to a paper bill, contract, or other document.
SIM services 16. SIM services Your SIM card may provide additional services that you can access. This menu is shown only if it is supported by your SIM card. The name and contents of the menu depend on the SIM card. For availability and information on using SIM card services, contact your SIM card vendor. This may be the service provider, network operator, or other vendor.
PC connectivity 17. PC connectivity You can send and receive e-mail, and access the Internet when your phone is connected to a compatible PC through an IR or data cable (CA-42) connection. You can use your phone with a variety of PC connectivity and data communications applications. ■ PC Suite With PC Suite you can synchronize Contacts, calendar and to-do notes, and notes between your phone, and the compatible PC, or a remote Internet server (network service).
Enhancements 18. Enhancements If you want to enhance device functionality, a range of enhancements is available for you. You can select any of these items to help accommodate your specific communication needs. For availability of these and other enhancements, contact your dealer. Wrist straps for your Nokia 6101 or Nokia 6102 mobile device are available for purchase at your Nokia dealer or www.nokiausa.com. Check the model number of any charger before use with this device.

Reference information 19. Reference information ■ Battery information Charging and discharging Your device is powered by a rechargeable battery. The full performance of a new battery is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times but it will eventually wear out. When the talk and standby times are noticeably shorter than normal, replace the battery.
Reference information Successful completion of the four steps is not a total assurance of the authenticity of the battery. If you have any reason to believe that your battery is not an authentic original Nokia battery, you should refrain from using it and take it to the nearest authorized Nokia service point or dealer for assistance. Your authorized Nokia service point or dealer will inspect the battery for authenticity. If authenticity cannot be verified, return the battery to the place of purchase.

Información General Contraseña de restricción Se requiere una contraseña de restricción (4 dígitos) al usar Restricción de llamadas. Ver “Seguridad,” pág. 127. ■ Servicio de ajuste de configuración Para usar algunos de los servicios de red, tales como Internet móvil, MMS, mensajería de audio Nokia Xpress o sincronización con el servidor de Internet remoto, su teléfono necesita los ajustes de configuraciones correctos. Puede recibir los ajustes directamente como un mensaje de configuración.

Inicio 1. Inicio ■ Abrir la tapa (cubierta desplegable) Cuando abre la cubierta del teléfono, ésta se abre a 155 grados aproximadamente. No trate de forzar la cubierta para que abra más. ■ Instalar la tarjeta SIM y la batería Siempre apague el dispositivo y desconecte el cargador antes de quitar la batería. Mantenga las tarjetas SIM fuera del alcance de los niños. Para información sobre disponibilidad y uso de los servicios de tarjetas SIM, póngase en contacto con el vendedor de su tarjeta SIM.
Inicio Inserte la tarjeta SIM (5). Asegúrese de que su tarjeta SIM esté correctamente insertada, y que el área de contacto dorada de la tarjeta esté mirando hacia abajo. Cierre el portatarjetas de la tarjeta SIM (6) y oprímalo bien hasta que cierre y caiga en su sitio. Reemplace la batería (7). Observe los contactos de la batería. Use siempre baterías originales Nokia. Ver “Normas de autenticación de la batería Nokia,” pág. 154. Deslice la cubierta posterior hacia su lugar (8, 9).

Si el teléfono solicita un código PIN o UPIN, ingrese el código (mostrado como****), y elija OK. ■ Posición normal de funcionamiento Use el teléfono en su posición normal de funcionamiento. Su dispositivo tiene una antena exterior. Nota: Al igual que al usar otros dispositivos de transmisión por radio, no toque la antena si no es necesario mientras el dispositivo esté encendido.

Su teléfono ■ Modalidad de reposo Cuando el teléfono esta listo para ser usado, y no ha ingresado ningún carácter, el teléfono está en la modalidad de reposo. Minipantalla Cuando la cubierta está cerrada, la minipantalla podría mostrar lo siguiente: • La señal de la red celular en su ubicación actual y el nivel de carga de la batería • El nombre de la red, o si el teléfono no está en servicio se indica mediante una nota de texto.
Su teléfono Para ver una lista con funciones disponibles, elija Ir a > Opciones > Elegir opciones. Para agregar una función a la lista de acceso directo, elija Marcar. Para eliminar una función de la lista, elija Deshacer. Para reorganizar las funciones en su lista de acceso directo, elija Ir a > Opciones > Organizar. Elija la función deseada y Mover y el lugar donde quiere trasladar la función.
Su teléfono El teléfono no suena para una llamada o mensaje entrante cuando Aviso de llamada entrante y tono de aviso para mensajes está configurado en Desactivar. Ver “Tonos,” pág. 120. El reloj alarma esta programado en Activar. Ver “Alarmas,” pág. 134. Cuando se selecciona la modalidad paquete de datos Siempre en línea y el servicio de datos por paquete está disponible, se muestra el indicador. Ver “Paquete de datos (EGPRS),” pág. 125. Se establece una conexión de paquete de datos.
Funciones de llamada 3. Funciones de llamada ■ Hacer una llamada 1. Ingrese el número telefónico, incluyendo el código de área. Para llamadas internacionales, oprima * dos veces para el prefijo internacional (el signo + reemplaza el código de acceso internacional) y entonces marque el código del país, el código de área sin el 0, si es necesario, y el número de teléfono. (Esta función podría variar. Consulte con su proveedor de servicios). 2. Para llamar a un número, oprima la tecla Llamar. 3.
Funciones de llamada Para rechazar una llamada, oprima la tecla Finalizar, o si el teléfono está abierto, ciérrelo. Para rechazar una llamada, cuando el teléfono esté cerrado, abra el teléfono y oprima la tecla Finalizar dentro de 1.5 segundos. Para enmudecer el tono de timbrado, oprima una de las teclas de volumen, o elija Silenciar. Dato: Si la función Desviar si ocupado está activada para desviar las llamadas (por ejemplo, a su buzón de correo de voz), al rechazar una llamada, ésta es desviada.
Escribir texto 4. Escribir texto Puede ingresar texto (por ejemplo cuando está escribiendo mensajes) usando el ingreso texto tradicional o predecible de texto. Al usar ingreso de texto tradicional, oprima una tecla de la1 a la 9, repetidamente hasta que aparezca la letra que desea. En el ingreso predecible de texto puede poner una letra simplemente con un tecleo.
Escribir texto Escribir palabras compuestas Ingrese la primera parte de la palabra y oprima la tecla de navegación derecha para confirmarla. Escriba la ultima parte de la palabra, y confirme la palabra. ■ Ingreso tradicional de texto Oprima una tecla numérica, 1 a 9, repetidamente hasta que aparezca el carácter deseado. No todos los caracteres disponibles son reflejados en las teclas numéricas. Los caracteres disponibles dependen del idioma en que se escribe. Ver “Configuraciones,” pág. 103.
Navegar por los menús 5. Navegar por los menús El teléfono brinda una amplia gama de funciones agrupadas en menús. 1. Para acceder al menú, elija Menú. Para cambiar la vista del menú, elija Opciones > Vista menú princ. > Lista o Cuadrícula. 2. Recorra el menú, y elija un submenú (por ejemplo, Configuraciones). 3. Si el menú contiene submenús, elija el que usted quiera (por ejemplo, Llamar). 4. Si el menú que ha elegido tiene más submenús, elija el que quiera (por ejemplo, Cualquier tecla contesta). 5.
Mensajes 6. Mensajes El servicio de mensajes sólo se puede usar si tiene el respaldo de su red o proveedor de servicios. Nota: Cuando envía mensajes, su teléfono puede mostrar las palabras Mensaje enviado. Ésta es una indicación de que el mensaje ha sido enviado de su dispositivo al número del centro de mensajes programado en su dispositivo. No significa que el destinatario haya recibido el mensaje. Para información más detallada sobre los servicios de mensajería, consulte a su proveedor de servicios.
Mensajes 3. Para enviar el mensaje, elija Enviar > Últimos usados, En No. teléfono, A varios o En dirección email. Para enviar un mensaje usando un perfil predefinido, elija Vía perfil de envió. Para el perfil del mensaje, vea “Mensajes de texto y de email SMS,” pág. 112. Elija o ingrese un número telefónico o perfil. Leer y contestar a mensajes SMS aparece cuando recibe un mensaje SMS o un email SMS. El icono parpadeante indica que la memoria de mensajes está llena.
Mensajes Un mensaje multimedia puede contener texto, sonido, una imagen, una nota de agenda, una tarjeta de negocios o un videoclip. Si el mensaje es muy largo, es posible que el teléfono no pueda recibirlo. Algunas redes permiten mensajes de texto que incluye una dirección Internet donde puede ver el mensaje multimedia. No puede recibir mensajes multimedia durante una llamada, un juego o cualquier otra aplicación Java, o en una sesión de navegación activa sobre datos GSM.
Mensajes 3. Para enviar el mensaje, elija Enviar > Últimos usados, En No. teléfono, En dirección e-mail o A varios. 4. Elija el contacto de la lista, o ingrese el número o dirección de email del destinatario, o busque en Contactos. Elija OK. El mensaje se traslada a la carpeta Buzón de salida para enviarlo. Cuando se está enviando el mensaje multimedia, el indicador animado aparece en la pantalla y puede usar otras funciones del teléfono.
Mensajes ■ Memoria llena Cuando recibe un nuevo mensaje de texto, y la memoria de mensajes está llena, parpadea y Mensaje de texto. memoria llena. Eliminar mensajes. aparece. Elija No, y elimine algunos mensajes de una carpeta. Para descartar el mensaje en espera, elija Salir > Sí. Cuando hay un mensaje multimedia en espera, y la memoria para los mensajes está llena, parpadea y Memoria multimedia llena. Ver mensaje en espera. aparece. Para ver el mensaje en espera, elija Mostrar.
Mensajes ■ Mensajería de audio Nokia Xpress Con este menú, use el servicio multimedia para crear y enviar un mensaje de voz de manera conveniente. Se debe activar el servicio de mensajería multimedia antes de poder usar este servicio. Crear un mensaje de audio Elija Menú > Mensajes > Crear mensajes > Mensaje audio. Se abre la grabadora. Para más información sobre el uso de la grabadora, vea “Grabador,” pág. 133.
Mensajes ■ Comandos de servicio Elija Menú > Mensajes > Comandos de servicio. Escriba y envíe solicitudes de servicio (también conocido como comandos USSD) a su proveedor de servicios, tal como comandos de activación para servicios de red. ■ Borrar mensajes Para eliminar todos los mensajes de una carpeta, elija Menú > Mensajes > Eliminar mensajes y la carpeta de la cual quiere eliminar los mensajes.
Mensajes Informes de entrega — para pedir a la red que le envíe informes sobre la entrega de sus mensajes (servicio de red) Reducción de imagen a escala — para definir el tamaño de la imagen cuando inserta una imagen en un mensaje multimedia Programación diapositiva pred. — para definir el tiempo predeterminado entre las diapositivas en los mensajes multimedia Permitir recepción de multimedia > Sí o No — para recibir o bloquear los mensajes multimedia. Contactos 7. Contactos Puede guardar nombres y números telefónicos (Contactos) en la memoria del teléfono y en la memoria de la tarjeta SIM. La memoria del teléfono puede guardar contactos con números e ítems de texto. También, es posible guardar un gráfico para un cierto número de nombres. Los nombres y números guardados en la memoria de la tarjeta SIM se indican con . ■ Buscar un contacto Elija Menú > Contactos > Nombres > Opciones > Buscar.
Contactos ■ Copiar contactos Busque el contacto que quiere copiar, y elija Opciones > Copiar. Puede copiar nombres y números telefónicos de la memoria del teléfono a la memoria de la tarjeta SIM o viceversa. La memoria de la tarjeta SIM puede guardar nombres junto con un número telefónico. ■ Editar detalles de contacto 1. Busque el contacto que quiera editar, elija Detalles, y vaya al nombre deseado, número, texto o imagen. 2.

Contactos 1. Busque el contacto al que quiere agregar una etiqueta de voz. 2. Elija Detalles, vaya al número telefónico deseado y elija Opciones > Agregar etiqueta de voz. 3. Elija Iniciar y pronuncie bien las palabras que quiere grabar como etiqueta de voz. Después de la grabación, el teléfono reproduce la etiqueta de voz. aparece detrás del número telefónico con una etiqueta de voz en Contactos. Para comprobar las etiquetas de voz, elija Menú > Contactos > Etiquetas de voz .

Registro 8. Registro El teléfono registra los números telefónicos de llamadas perdidas, recibidas y números marcados; los destinatarios de mensajes y la duración aproximada de sus llamadas. El teléfono registra si está encendido y dentro del área de la red de servicios y si la red respalda dichas funciones.
Configuraciones 9. Configuraciones ■ Perfiles Su teléfono tiene varios grupos de configuraciones denominados perfiles para los cuales puede personalizar los tonos del teléfono para diferentes eventos y entornos. Elija Menú > Configuraciones > Perfiles y un perfil. Para activar el perfil seleccionado, elija Activar. Para programar el perfil a que se active a cierta hora hasta 24 horas, elija Programado y ajuste la hora en la que la programación del perfil debe terminar.
Configuraciones ■ Mis accesos directos Con accesos directos, tiene acceso rápido a las funciones que usa frecuentemente en el teléfono. Para manejar los accesos directos, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Mis accesos directos y de las siguientes opciones: Tecla de selección derecha — para seleccionar una función de la lista de la tecla de selección derecha. También ver “Modalidad de reposo,” pág. 98. Puede que este menú no aparezca, dependiendo de su proveedor de servicios.
Configuraciones Esquemas de colores — para cambiar el color en algunos componentes de la pantalla, (por ejemplo, imagen de fondo del menú y barra de colores de la señal y batería). Color de fuente en estado inactivo — para seleccionar el color para los textos en la pantalla en la modalidad de reserva. Logo de operador — para programar su teléfono para que muestre u oculte el logo del operador. El menú queda atenuado, si no ha guardado el logo del operador.
Configuraciones Contestar al abrir la tapa > Activar — para contestar una llamada entrante, abra la tapa del teléfono. Remarcado automático > Activar — para programar su teléfono a que haga un máximo de 10 intentos para conectar la llamada después de una llamada fallida Marcación rápida > Activar — para activar marcación rápida. Para configurar marcación rápida, vea “Marcación rápida,” pág. 117. Para marcar, mantenga oprimida la tecla del número correspondiente.
Configuraciones Saludo inicial — para ingresar una nota de saludo a ser vista brevemente cuando se enciende el teléfono Selección de operador > Automática — para programar a que el teléfono seleccione automáticamente una de las redes de celular disponibles en su área. Con Manual, puede seleccionar una red que tiene un acuerdo de roaming con su operador de red doméstico. Confirmar acciones del servicio SIM — vea “Servicios SIM,” pág. 149.
Configuraciones Indicador de conexión IR Cuando se muestra continuamente, la conexión IR está activada y su teléfono está listo para enviar o recibir datos a través de su puerto IR. Cuando parpadea, su teléfono está tratando de establecer una conexión con otros dispositivos o se ha perdido una conexión.
Configuraciones ■ Accesorios Este menú sólo aparece si el teléfono ha sido conectado a un accesorio móvil compatible. Elija Menú > Configuraciones > Accesorios. Puede elegir un menú de accesorio si el accesorio correspondiente está, o ha estado conectado al teléfono.
Configuraciones Activar predeterm en todas aplic. — Para activar los ajustes de configuración predeterminados para aplicaciones respaldadas. Punto de acceso preferido — Para ver los puntos de acceso guardados. Vaya hasta un punto de acceso y elija Opciones > Detalles para ver el punto de acceso del nombre del proveedor de servicios, portador de datos y datos por paquete o del número de marcación GSM. Conectar con soporte prov. serv.
Configuraciones Códigos acceso — para configurar el código PIN o UPIN en uso, o para cambiar el código de seguridad, código PIN, código UPIN, código PIN2 y contraseña de restricción. Código en uso — para elegir si el código PIN o el código UPIN debe estar activo. Solicitud de PIN2 — para elegir si se requiere del código PIN2 cuando se está usando una función específica del teléfono la cual está cubierta por el código PIN2.
El menú Operador 10. El menú Operador Este menú le permite acceder a un portal de servicios provisto por su proveedor de servicios. El nombre e icono dependen del operador. Para más información, contacte a su operador de red. Si no se muestra este menú, los siguientes números de menú cambian respectivamente. El operador puede actualizar este menú con un mensaje de servicio. Para más información, vea “Buzón de servicio,” pág. 145.
Galería 11. Galería En este menú puede manejar gráficos, imágenes, grabaciones, videoclips, temas y tonos. Estos archivos están organizados en carpetas. Su teléfono respalda una clave de sistema de activación para proteger el contenido adquirido. Siempre revise los datos de entrega de cualquier contenido y clave de activación antes de adquirirlos; puede que no sean gratis.
Multimedia 12. Multimedia Las protecciones de copyright pueden impedir la copia, modificación, transferencia o reenvío de ciertas imágenes, tonos de llamada y otros contenidos. ■ Cámara Puede tomar fotos o grabar videoclips con la cámara integrada. La cámara produce imágenes en formato JPEG y videoclips en formato 3GP. Al tomar y usar imágenes o videoclips, obedezca las leyes y respete las costumbres locales así como los derechos legítimos y de privacidad de otros.
Multimedia Elija Menú > Multimedia > Radio. Para usar las teclas gráficas , , ,o en la pantalla, recorra hacia la izquierda o derecha para escoger la tecla deseada, y selecciónela. Para cambiar el volumen, oprima las teclas de volumen. Guardar emisoras de radio 1. Para empezar a buscar emisoras, seleccione y mantenga o Para cambiar la frecuencia de radio en pasos 0.05 MHz, oprima brevemente o . . 2.
Multimedia ■ Grabador Puede grabar partes de conferencias, sonidos o una llamada activa por 5 minutos. No es posible utilizar la grabadora cuando hay una llamada de datos o una conexión GPRS activa. Grabar sonido 1. Elija Menú > Multimedia > Grabador. Para usar las teclas gráficas , o en la pantalla, vaya a la izquierda o a la derecha para escoger la tecla deseada, y selecciónela. 2. Para iniciar la grabación, elija . Para iniciar la grabación durante una llamada, elija Opciones > Grabar.
Organizador 13. Organizador ■ Alarmas Puede configurar el teléfono a que emita una alarma a una hora determinada. Elija Menú > Organizador > Alarmas. Para fijar la alarma, oprima Hora de alarma, e ingrese la hora (de alarma) que quiera. Para cambiar la hora de alarma cuando ésta es configurada, elija Activar. Para programar a que el teléfono le avise en días de la semana seleccionados, elija Repetir alarma.
Organizador Otras opciones para la vista del día pueden ser Crear nota, Eliminar, Editar, Mover o Repetir una nota; Copiar una nota a otro día; Enviar nota como un mensaje de texto o mensaje multimedia, con IR, o a la agenda de otro teléfono compatible. En Configuraciones puede configurar la fecha y la hora. En Notas de eliminación automática puede programar el teléfono a que elimine notas automáticamente después de un tiempo especificado. Hacer una nota de agenda Elija Menú > Organizador > Agenda.
Organizador Otras opciones para notas incluyen eliminación y edición de nota. Mientras edita una nota, también puede salir del editor de texto sin guardar los cambios. Puede enviar la nota a los dispositivos compatibles usando un mensaje de texto, un mensaje multimedia o IR. Sí el texto es demasiado largo, el teléfono le indica que borre una cierta cantidad de caracteres de su nota.
Organizador 1. Elija Menú > Organizador > Sincronización > Sincronización del servidor > Configuraciones sincronización y de las siguientes opciones: Configuración — Se muestran sólo las configuraciones que respaldan la sincronización. Elija un proveedor de servicios, Predeterminado, o Ajuste personal para la sincronización. Cuenta — Elija una cuenta de servicio de sincronización contenida en los ajustes de configuración activos. 2. Elija Conf.
Organizador ■ Cronómetro Para medir tiempo, tomar tiempos intermediarios o tiempos de vuelta, use el cronómetro. Se pueden usar las otras funciones del teléfono mientras se mide el tiempo. Para programar el cronómetro en segundo plano, oprima la tecla Finalizar. El uso del cronómetro o dejarlo funcionar en segundo plano mientras se están utilizando otras funciones, aumenta la demanda de alimentación de la batería y acorta su duración.
Aplicaciones 14. Aplicaciones ■ Juegos El software de su teléfono incluye algunos juegos. Iniciar un juego Elija Menú > Aplicaciones > Juegos. Vaya al juego deseado, y elija Abrir. Para opciones relacionadas a un juego, vea “Otras opciones de aplicación,” pág. 139. Descargar juegos Elija Menú > Aplicaciones > Opciones > Descargas > Descargas juegos. Se muestra la lista de favoritos disponibles. Elija Más favoritos para acceder a la lista de favoritos en el menú Web. Ver “Favoritos,” pág. 144.
Aplicaciones Verificar versión — para ver si hay una nueva versión de aplicación disponible para descargarla de la red Web (servicio de red) Página Web — para proveer mayor información o datos adicionales para la aplicación desde una página de Internet. La red tiene que respaldar esta función. Se muestra esta opción sólo si una dirección de Internet ha sido provista con la aplicación Acceso a aplic.
La red 15. La red Puede acceder a varios servicios de Internet móvil con el navegador de su teléfono. Importante: Utilice sólo servicios confiables que brinden seguridad y protección adecuada contra software dañino. Consulte con su proveedor de servicios la disponibilidad de esos servicio, precios, tarifas e instrucciones.
La red • Para elegir un favorito del servicio, elija Menú > Web > Favoritos. • Para elegir la última URL, elija Menú > Web > Última dirección web. • Para ingresar la dirección del servicio, elija Menú > Web > Ir a dirección, ingrese la dirección del servicio, y elija OK. ■ Navegar por las páginas Tras conectarse con el servicio, puede comenzar a navegar por las páginas. La función de las teclas podría variar según los servicios. Siga las instrucciones en la pantalla del teléfono.
La red ■ Configuraciones de apariencia Mientras navega, elija Opciones > Otras opciones > Configuraciones de apariencia; o bien, en la modalidad inactiva, elija Menú > Web > Configuraciones > Configuraciones de apariencia y una de las siguientes opciones: Justific. texto > Activado — para configurar que el texto continúe en el próximo renglón en la pantalla. Sí elige Desactivar, el texto se abrevia. Tamaño de letra > Extra pequeña, Pequeña o Mediana — para configurar el tamaño de letra Most.

La red ■ Buzón de servicio El teléfono puede recibir mensajes de servicio (denominados "pushed messages") enviados por su proveedor de servicios (servicio de red). Los mensajes de servicio son, por ejemplo, noticias titulares y podrían contener un mensaje de texto o una dirección de un servicio. Para acceder al Buzón de servicio en la modalidad inactiava, cuando ha recibido un mensaje, elija Mostrar. Sí oprime Salir, el mensaje será desviado al Buzón de servicio.
La red ■ Información de ubicación La red podría enviarle una solicitud de ubicación. Puede estar seguro de que la red entregue información sobre su teléfono sólo si usted lo autoriza (servicio de red). Contacte a su operador de red o proveedor de servicios para suscribirse y ponerse de acuerdo con la entrega de datos de ubicación. Para aceptar o rechazar la solicitud de ubicación, elija Aceptar o Rechazar.
La red Cambiar PIN de módulo — para cambiar el PIN de módulo, si lo permite el módulo de seguridad. Ingrese el código PIN de módulo actual; luego ingrese el nuevo código dos veces. Cambiar PIN de firma — para cambiar el código PIN de firma para firma digital. Elija el PIN de firma que quiera cambiar. Ingrese el código de módulo PIN actual; luego ingrese el nuevo código dos veces. También vea “Códigos de acceso,” pág. 91.
La red Firma digital Puede hacer firmas digitales con su teléfono si su tarjeta SIM tiene un módulo de seguridad. La firma digital equivale a una firma sobre un billete, un contrato u otro documento. Para crear una firma digital, elija un enlace en una página (por ejemplo, el título de un libro que quiere comprar y su precio). Aparece el texto para firmar, que puede incluir la cantidad y la fecha. Verifique que el encabezamiento del texto sea Leer y que aparezca el ícono de la firma digital.
Servicios SIM 16. Servicios SIM Su tarjeta SIM podría facilitar servicios adicionales a los que puede acceder. Este menú sólo aparece si tiene el soporte de su tarjeta SIM. El nombre y contenido del menú dependen de la tarjeta SIM. Para información sobre disponibilidad y uso de los servicios de tarjetas SIM, póngase en contacto con el vendedor de su tarjeta SIM. Puede ser su proveedor de servicios, operador de red u otro vendedor.
Conexión al PC 17. Conexión al PC Puede enviar y recibir mensajes de email, y acceder al Internet cuando su teléfono está conectado a una PC compatible por medio de una conexión IR, Bluetooth o cable de datos. Puede usar su teléfono con una variedad de conexiones PC y aplicaciones de comunicación de datos. ■ PC Suite Con el PC Suite puede sincronizar Contactos, agenda, notas de actividades y notas entre su teléfono y la PC compatible o a un servidor de Internet remoto (servicio de red).

El rendimiento óptimo de una batería nueva se obtiene solamente después de dos o tres ciclos completos de carga y descarga. La batería se puede cargar y descargar numerosas veces, pero con el tiempo se gastará. Cuando los tiempos de conversación y de reserva sean notablemente más cortos de lo normal, compre una batería nueva.
