4.2.1 Creating a Device Template
In the PM710 energy meter, a number of values are to be read and later
be sent to the RTU4 device on the LonWorks network. The Xenta 913
collects this information using the Modbus serial communications inter-
face. Some configuration parameters are also to be sent to the meter.
To create a device template
1 In the network pane, right-click the serial communications inter-
face. In the example, Modbus_Master.
2 Click Create Device Template.
3 In the Specific Data pane, in the Name box, type the name. In the
example, “PM710”.
4 In the Description box, type a descriptive text. In the example,
“Energy meter”.
5 In the general data pane, type information about the device in
question.
6 On the File menu, click Save.
7 In the Save As dialog box, type the name. In the example,
“PM710”.
8 Click Save.
Note
• [Modbus Ext] is automatically added to the file name for a
device created for a Modbus Master interface.
