COLETTE
modular
MK 40, CCM 40
for pickup of speech or music at close
range (under 50 cm)
cardioid pattern
considerable attenuation of low fre-
quencies
emphasis of high frequencies
for severe acoustic conditions
This microphone type has the
same features as the MK 4 S, but
in addition emphasizes the fre-
quency response in the 9 kHz
region by 4 dB. This effects a fur-
ther im provement of speech intelli-
gibility, particularly in very rever-
berant venues such as churches.
The MK 40 is used primarily for
sound reinforcement of speech. It
is not particularly recommended
for music recording.

MK 4VXS, CCM 4VXS
for pick up of speech or music at close
range (under 10 cm)
cardioid for lateral pickup
considerable attenuation of low fre-
quencies
emphasis of high fre quen cies
This car dioid microphone, with its
main axis along its si de, im pro ves
speech in tel li gi bili ty in very loud en -
vi ron ments. It is de si gned for the very
clo sest speech pick up, i.e. di rect ly in
front of the spe a ker’s mouth. Its low-

pro xi mity ef fect. Thus it has (up to
the po int of its high-fre quen cy em -

the spe a ker’s vo i ce, whi le sho wing a
rolloff at low fre quen cies for all
sound that ori gi na tes from a grea ter
di stan ce. As a re sult, back ground
sounds are picked up less stron gly
than the per son spe a king.
The MK 4VXS or CCM 4VXS should be used with
the popscreen B 5 in or der to pre vent “pop ping“
sounds from the vo i ce.
The CCM 4VXS has pro ved it self espe ci al ly when
used in the broadcasting or recording of motor spor t-
ing events. In this ca se it is at
