II. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICE (PMCS)
To ensure the Large Field Refrigeration System is ready for operation at all times, it must be
inspected so that defects are discovered and corrected before they result in damage or
equipment failure. Any effective preventive maintenance program must begin with instructions to
all operators to report all unusual conditions noted during daily checks or actual operation to the
appropriate maintenance personnel.
A system should be established to record all problems, defects, and deficiencies noted by
operators and discovered during maintenance inspections, together with the corrective actions
taken. Table 3-3 list the Preventive Maintenance Checks and Service Schedule required for the
Large Field Refrigeration System which must be done at the specified times if possible. If
operational requirements prevent doing the scheduled maintenance at the specified time, make
the required checks and services at the first available opportunity. The PMCS items in the table
have been arranged in a logical sequence to provide for greater personnel efficiency and the
least amount of required maintenance downtime. Additionally, Table 2-5 list the before, during,
and after operation checks that must be performed during operation of equipment.
3-5. Explanation of PMCS Table Columns
a. Column 1, contains the specific Large Field Refrigeration System component that the
maintenance task pertains to.
b. Column 2, (Item / Task) provides a list of all items requiring maintenance and the specific
task which is to be performed.
c. Column 3, (Interval) contains the interval in which to perform the task. Table 3-2 below is a
list of symbols used to indicate specific intervals.
