V. PREPARATION FOR STORAGE
1-16. Preparation for Limited Storage and Reshipment
There are no specific procedures for limited storage and reshipment of the LFRS.
1-17. Preparation for Long Term Storage
There are no specific procedures for long term storage of the LFRS.
VI. DESTRUCTION TO PREVENT ENEMY USE
a. Authority for Destruction
Demolition of the equipment will be accomplished only upon the order of the commander.
The destruction procedures described below will be used to prevent further use of the
equipment.
b. Methods of Destruction
Use of any of the methods of destruction given below. The time available for destruction
is the major factor in determining the method of destruction.
(1) Smash. Smash the cabinet, meters, and controls. Use sledges, axes, hammers,
crowbars, and other heavy tool available. Remove the top panel, and smash the
internal components.
(2) Cut. Cut the wiring of the LFRS. Use axes, hand axes, or machetes.
WARNING
Be extremely careful with explosives and incendiary devices. Use these items
only when the need is urgent.
(3) Burn. Burn the technical manuals first. Burn as much of the equipment as is
flammable; use gasoline , oil, flamethrowers, and similar materials. Pour gasoline on
the cut cables and internal wiring and ignite them. Pour gasoline on spares and ignite
them. Use incendiary grenades to complete the destruction of the unit.
(4) Dispose. Bury or scatter destroyed parts, or throw them into nearby waterways.
