(7) Once power is connected there are no additional adjustments required. Grounding of
the unit is accomplished through the power cable connections and the unit is
commissioned before leaving the factory eliminating the need for initial adjustments to
the equipment.
d. Installation Checkout.
After installation perform a general inspection to verify proper siting and connection.
Ensure the container is level, the doors can be properly operated and will be held open by
straps, and the power is connected with the cable out of the way and protected.
e. Preparation for Movement.
Prepare the LFRS for movement as follows:
CAUTION
To prevent damage to container cargo, make sure cargo is securely packed in
container.
(1) Check container to make sure all boxes and packages are properly secured.
(2) Verify that no personnel are inside the container.
(3) Verify that all doors are closed and securely fastened.
(4) Verify container temperature is correct for type of cargo being stored. If required,
allow refrigeration unit to operate until temperature has stabilized.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to cargo, make sure electrical power, external or generator set is
available at next work site. Refrigeration should only be shut down for short
periods of time as required to load/unload container from transportation vehicle.
(5) Disconnect power cord from power source.
(6) Secure all cargo with tie downs.
(7) Close and latch the container door.
WARNING
• When loaded, the refrigerated container is extremely heavy. To prevent injury to
personnel and damage to equipment, use a hoist and sling rated at a minimum
capacity of 26.45 tons (52,900 lbs./ 24,000 kg).
• Commercial container handling equipment (cranes, top lift devices, front and
side lift loaders and self-loading transporters) are suitable for handling the
refrigeration unit.
• Container must be lifted vertically from all four corners.
• Do not lift container with cable slings at an angle.
• Never use a forklift to move, lift, and or push the container unless the forklift is
compatible for use with the container.
