i. Hot liquid line.
Step Probable Cause Remedy
1 Shortage of refrigerant. Repair leak and recharge.
j. Frosted liquid line.
Step Probable Cause Remedy
1 Receiver shutoff valve partially closed or
restricted.
Open valve or remove restiction.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 2.
2 Restricted strainer dryer. Replace strainer dryer.
k. Frosted expansion valve.
Step Probable Cause Remedy
1 Ice plugging TXV orifice. Apply hot wet cloth to TXV.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 2.
2 Moisture indicated by increase in suction
pressure.
Install dryer.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 3.
3 Plugged TXV strainer. Clean strainer or replace TXV.
