Step Probable Cause Remedy
3 Low refrigerant charge. Add refrigerant.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 4.
4 Plugged suction strainer. Clean strainer.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 5.
5 Defective TXV. Replace TXV.
c. Compressor cycles on high pressure control.
Step Probable Cause Remedy
1 High pressure control erratic in action. Check capillary tube for pinches, set control
as required.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 2.
2 Discharge valve partially closed. Adjust valve.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 3.
3 Air in system. Recover.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 4.
4 Condenser scaled (or airflow restricted). Clean condenser.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 5.
5 Refrigerant overcharge. Recover refrigerant.
d. Insufficient capacity.

2 Control set too high. Reset control.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 3.
3 Expansion valve plugged. Clean or replace expansion valve.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 4.
4 Inefficient compressor. Check valves and pistons.
If fault is not corrected proceed to step 5.
