d. Maintenance of Painted Surfaces
The refrigeration unit is protected by a special paint system against the corrosive
atmosphere in which it normally operates. However, should the paint system be
damaged, the base metal can corrode. In order to protect the refrigeration unit from the
highly corrosive sea atmosphere or if the protective paint system is scratched or
damaged, clean area to bare metal using a wire brush, emery paper, or equivalent
cleaning method. Immediately following cleaning, spray or brush on zinc-rich primer.
After the primer has dried, spray or brush on finish coat of paint to match original unit
color.
e. Repair Interior Lighting
(1) Replacing Glass Dome
. To replace the interior lighting glass dome follow the steps below:
(a) Remove the two screws (Figure 3-29, Item 1) securing the protective cage (Figure 3-29,
Item 2) to the lighting assembly.
(b) Remove the protective cage and set aside.
WARNING
Pieces of a broken glass dome may be sharp and cause injury. Take care in handling any
glass sections to avoid cuts or other injury.
(c) Remove the damaged glass dome (Figure 3-29, Item 3) and discard.
(d) Install a new glass dome, taking care to ensure that it is seated properly. Be sure to hold
the glass dome in position until the protective cage is put in place.
(e) Position the protective cage set aside earlier over the glass and secure with two screws
