Chapter 3. Software Description
3.1 INTRODUCTION
The I
2
C/SMBus functionality of the MCP2221 Breakout Module requires a Microsoft
®
Windows
®
XP/7/8 operating system and a USB port. To run the software, follow the
steps described in this section.
1. Connect the MCP2221 Breakout Module to the PC using the provided USB
cable.
2. To start the I
2
C
®
/SMBus Terminal application, select Start > All Programs >
Microchip > MCP2221 I2C/SMBus Terminal. The interface detects the MCP2221
device automatically and is ready for use (see Figure 3-1).
