MCP6541/1R/1U/2/3/4 4.0 APPLICATIONS INFORMATION The MCP6541/1R/1U/2/3/4 family of push-pull output comparators are fabricated on Microchip’s state-of-theart CMOS process. They are suitable for a wide range of applications requiring very low-power consumption. 4.1 VDD D1 R1 Comparator Inputs 4.1.1 INPUT VOLTAGE AND CURRENT LIMITS The ESD protection on the inputs can be depicted as shown in Figure 4-1.

MCP6541/1R/1U/2/3/4 4.4.2 INVERTING CIRCUIT Figure 4-6 shows an inverting circuit for single-supply using three resistors. The resulting hysteresis diagram is shown in Figure 4-7.
MCP6541/1R/1U/2/3/4 The easiest way to reduce surface leakage is to use a guard ring around sensitive pins (or traces). The guard ring is biased at the same voltage as the sensitive pin. An example of this type of layout is shown in Figure 4-9. VIN- VIN+ VSS 4.10 Typical Applications 4.10.1 PRECISE COMPARATOR Some applications require higher DC precision. An easy way to solve this problem is to use an amplifier (such as the MCP6041) to gain-up the input signal before it reaches the comparator.
