Low-End Exterior Automotive LED Control Module Solution
Microchip’s broad portfolio of microcontrollers offers embedded designers
cost-effective building blocks to enable a low-cost yet capable Switch
Mode Power Supply (SMPS) control configuration for single LED string
applications. A cost-effective 8-bit PIC microcontroller delivers closed loop
regulation for this type of application. The configuration below supports
flexible DC/DC converter topologies with circuits such as boost, buck, buck-
boost, Ćuk, flyback and SEPIC. As fog lights and turn indicator lights have
more relaxed beam stability requirements than front headlamps, these are
ideal applications for this low-end oriented configuration.
