How Does A Sensormatic EAS Solution Work?
EAS anti-theft protection is a process that begins by attaching detectable labels or hard tags to merchandise, either in-
store or via source-tagging during manufacturing or packaging.
Simply put, when an item is bought, the label is deactivated or the hard tag is removed. However, should a thief carry
merchandise with an active label or hard tag past an EAS detector, the antenna in the detector will recognize the label
or tag and sound an alarm.
EAS Detection
A Sensormatic EAS system uses one or more pedestals or antennas configured to create a surveillance zone at exits or
checkout lanes. Our
Ultra•Max acousto-magnetic technology allows for wider separation between antennas, has a low
backfield to allow merchandising close to the system without sounding an alarm, and can detect tags and labels in a
foil-lined bag or metal shopping cart. Acousto-magnetic technology was designed in response to the weakness of
existing EAS technologies at the time. Ultra•Max improved on many of the previous technologies in the areas of
detection, wider exit coverage, better false alarm immunity and hard tag and label solutions for every retail sector.
Our offerings include pedestal systems for checkout lane or exit coverage and visible deterrence, as well as discreet
and concealed systems for less visible or hidden detection. Our portfolio is designed to provide the retailer with the
best product for their specific application.
NOTE: Throughout the catalog systems noted as either US or Non-European can be used in Asia Pacific, Latin America,
and Middle East regions.
