− No solution in measuring

Fault at RDE working electrode:
− No connection
− Electrode tip not firmly
screwed on to the drive shaft

Check MME:
− Connect reference electrode with WE
cable
− Fill MME with mercury (see section
3.4.2 and 3.4.7)
− Clean MME (see section 3.4.9) and
use ultrapure mercury (w ≥ 0.99999)
or filtered mercury
− Change capillary (see section 3.4.8)
− Clean MME (see section 3.4.9) and
replace sealing needle if need be
− Check inert gas connection (see
section 3.3.3)
− Rub the MME body dry, clean with
distilled water of dilute acid and dry
with a lint-free cloth

− Add measuring solution
− Add a few drops of KCl 3 mol/L to the
measuring solution
− Turn slotted screw 7171 on the 747 VA
Stand during operation in an anti-
clockwise direction until a drop falls
each time the tapper is triggered
Check RDE:
− Connect reference electrode with WE
cable
− Install RDE properly (see section 3.5)
− Regenerate RDE (see section 3.5.2)
