Precautions and
safety
measurements
This device is designed for use:
- indoors,
- in an environment of pollution level 2,
- at an altitude below 2000m,
- at a temperature between 0°C and 40°C
- at a relative humidity below 80% up to 31°C.
It can be used for measurements on 300V CAT-II circuits and can be
supplied by a 300V CAT-II network.
definition of the
measurement
categories
Overvoltage category II corresponds to devices intended to be connected to
building circuits. It applies both to equipment connected via plugs and to
equipment connected permanently. Eg: Measurements made on the low-voltage
supply circuits of household appliances, hand tools, and similar equipment.
Overvoltage category III corresponds to equipment intended to be incorporated
in building circuits. This type of equipment can include wall outlets, fuse boards,
and some mains installation control equipment. Eg: Distribution panels (including
secondary meters), disconnects, wiring, including cables, busbars, junction
boxes, disconnect switches, outlets on the fixed installation, industrial devices,
and other equipment such as motors permanently connected to the fixed
installation.
Overvoltage category IV corresponds to equipment installed at the point of
entry or near the origin of a building's power supply, between the entry into the
building and the main distribution frame. This type of equipment can include
power meters and primary overvoltage protection devices. Eg: Measurements on
systems installed upstream of the main fuse or circuit-breaker of the electrical
installation of a building.
before use
Observe the environmental and storage conditions.
during use
Read attentively all notes preceded by the symbol.
Connect the device to an outlet having an earthing contact.
Take care not to obstruct the ventilation ports.
As a safety measure, use only the appropriate cables and accessories -
those supplied with the device or models approved by the manufacturer.
When the device is connected to the measurement circuits, never touch an
unused terminal.
