Functional description
II - HORIZONTAL system (cont'd)
Buttons of the horizontal mode
The horizontal commands serve to adjust the sweep coefficient and the
horizontal position of the traces.
Horizontal
"POSITION" button
1. Adjusts the horizontal position of the traces (the position of the trigger
with respect to the centre of the screen). The time resolution of this
command depends on the sweep coefficient selected.
2. To reset the horizontal position to zero, press the "POSITION" button.
S/div knob
1. Used to adjust the sweep coefficient. If acquisition of the signal is
stopped (use of the RUN/STOP or SINGLE button), turn the S/div knob to
stretch or compress the trace.
2. Choose the T/div coefficient of the main or delayed time base. When the
Window Zone is active, the width of the window zone is modified by
adjusting the time base of the window.
Display the Roll mode
When the S/div command is set to 100ms/div or more, and the trigger mode
is Auto, the oscilloscope enters the Roll acquisition mode. In this mode, the
signal is refreshed from left to right. In ROLL, there is no trigger or control of
the horizontal position.
Window zone
Use the Window Zone option to define the segment of trace to be observed
in detail. The slowest time base of the Window (zoomed) cannot be slower
than the main time base.
You can turn the Horizontal Position and SEC/DIV controls to enlarge or
shrink the signals in the Window Zone.
Delayed
Use the "Delayed" option to define the portion (window) of the complete
trace to be observed in detail. The sweep coefficient of the "Window" time
base cannot be less than the sweep coefficient of the "Main" time base.
You can turn the "Horizontal Position" knob to move the "Window Zone", and
the "S/div" control to enlarge or shrink the Window.
"M" means main time base, "W" means time base of the zoomed Window.
The vertical arrow T indicates the position of the trigger.
Steps
To display a segment of the trace in detail:
1. Press the "HORI MENU" button to display the "Horizontal Menu".
2. Turn the "S/div" knob to modify the main time base.
3. Press the "Delayed" option button and choose "On".
