Connect the programming cable to the computer and to the DCM-200’s programming
port connector. You have the option to erase the entire program and all configuration
information. This will leave the entire memory blank and will render the device
inoperative until new firmware and a new configuration is loaded into the device. This is
normally only used for troubleshooting. Once new firmware is loaded, be sure to
program a new configuration as well.
NOTE
If the program memory is erased, it will not be possible to download new firmware over
the cellular network until a new program is loaded using the programming cable.
Select WRITE UPDATE TO DCM-200 VIA CABLE. MP32 will systematically replace the
old program with the new code. Various status messages will appear on the screen. If
there are problems, review the information in Section 5.3 about the communications
setup.
NOTE
When the firmware is updated the DCM-200 will be reset. See Chapter-7 for a
description of the unit’s behavior after a reset.
5.8 Firmware Downloads Over-The-Air
The firmware in one or many installed DCM-200s can be changed over the cellular
network. The data collection software, DC-2000, must be installed and running to
support over-the-air programming. After selecting the UPDATE FIRMWARE button the
screen shown back in Figure 5-8 will appear.
Metretek will provide the latest firmware file. Make sure the path and filename are
correct on the screen. Select the SEND FIRMWARE UPDATE TO DC-2000 button.
The screen shown in Figure 5-9 will appear.
