• Shield Plate (Not shown in Figure 2-5): Provides a degree of protection for
service personnel against electric shock hazard when the shield plate is properly
installed. Removal of the shield plate must only be performed after it has been
confirmed that the AC power has been disconnected at the source.
• Lithium Battery Pack: Delivers the reserve energy required to maintain power to
the GUTC board and radio in order to initiate an alarm call in the event of an AC
power outage.
Optional items:
• RS-232 to RJ-11 adapter board, Metretek P/N: 1001-0303D-000 (see Figure 2-
7).
2.6 Serial Data Cable Wiring Connection
Two wiring methods are available to connect the electric meter to the DCM-200:
Method-A
Direct routing of a three conductor shielded cable between the electric meter and the
DCM-200. Wire connections feeding into the DCM-200 are terminated at TB2 of the
GUTC board. Although there are six wiring points available at TB2, usually only the
TXD, RXD, and GND signals require connection. Signals RTS, DTR, and DSR may be
used in certain situations. Contact the manufacturer of the meter or Metretek for more
information.

Method-B
Some electric meters may provide a serial communications cable that is terminated with
a standard RJ-11 plug (same type of plug used for telephone connections). An adapter
kit is available from Metretek under part number 1001-0303D-000 to accommodate this.
