PRODUCT DATA SHEET
RS 136 Fireblock/ Draft Stop Caulk
1. Product Description
RS 136 is a one component, non-com-
bustible ASTM E-136 fireblock, draft stop
caulk. Note: RS 136 is water soluble and
is not for underwater or exterior use. Not
for use in continuous vibration environ-
ments. Do not dilute. Store between 35˚ F
and 100˚ F to obtain minimum two years
shelf life. Best if protected from freezing.
If freezing occurs, thaw completely be-
fore use. May be used as a smoke seal.
Before using as a smoke seal check local
authority for approval.
Use RS 136 for various penetrations:
Large Openings
PVC/CPVC Pipe (Closed Only)
Other Types of Plastic Pipe
EMT, Semi-Rigid, and Rigid Conduit
Steel, Copper, and Aluminum Pipe
Multiple Pipes, Conduit, and Cable
Steel and Copper Pipes with Insultion
Telephone, Power, Romex Cable
Static Construction Joints
RS 136 Features

vents which makes it particularly
useful when installing in confined
spaces or occupied areas.

mixing necessary and no required
additives.

lated.

3. Applications
Use RS 136 exclusively for interior condi-
tions. Because RS 136 is water soluble
it is not suitable for exterior or wet area
use. RS 136 is a general purpose fire-
block/ smoke seal caulk for electrical,
plumbing, plastic pipe and telephone
communication systems penetrations.
Use in vertical and horizontal applica-
tions, and for bedding and sealing small
voids, splices and gaps. RS 136 is also
an excellent fire rated acoustical seal-
ant, and can be used around electrical
outlets and non-vibrating construction
joints. Consult application data for
specific aluminum alloys before using
RS 136 with aluminum pipe.
4. Installation Data
Install RS 136 using standard caulking
techniques . When damming material is
needed, use non-combustible backing
material. Prior to use, products should
be brought to room temperature or 70˚ F
(21˚ C) whichever is greater.
TYPICAL
INSTALLATION
Step 1) Clean all joints or openings
to remove loose debris, dirt, oil, wax,
grease, old caulking, etc. and, if re-
quired, install non-combustible backing
materials to prevent caulk from falling
out of hole.
Step 2) Caulk should be at room tem-
perature for application. Surface and air
temperatures should be above 40˚ F.
Step 3) Clip caulking tube spout to de-
sired bead width and caulk RS 136 into
opening until flush with surrounding floor
and/or wall surfaces. Then tool sealant
surface to a smooth defect-free finish with
a slightly wetted trowel or putty knife.
Step 4) Clean all equipment immediately
after use with water.
5. Storage & Handling
RS 136 is not to be stored in areas where
temperatures exceed 100˚ F (38˚ C) or
drop below 35˚F (2˚ C ). If freezing oc-
curs, thaw completely before use. Keep
products stored under protective cover,
in its original containers. Product has a
minimum shelf life of 2 years, subject to
re-inspection thereafter. A stock rotation
program is recommended.
6. Availability
RS 136 is available in:
10.3 oz. (304 ml) standard caulking
tubes.
7. Limitations
RS 136 cannot be used in areas where
there is continuous vibration on the open-
ing, where wet conditions exist or may
occur or where there are continuous
temperatures above 120˚F (49˚ C). RS
136 is not suitable for exterior or wet area
use. Consult application data for specific
aluminum alloys before using RS 136 with
aluminum pipe.
