DESIGN SCENARIOS
This section introduces the various types of deployments and offers recommendation for
various scenarios as listed below.
There are many types of deployments such as typical office space, hotels, hospitals,
outdoors, warehouses, stadiums, those that require location tracking, bridged (remote) APs,
etc.
Simple Office Deployment
Let’s consider the typical office building that uses drywall offices or cubicles, with few large
RF obstructions and little external RF interference. For this type of space a tool like Ekahau’s
Site Survey will do an accurate job of predicting coverage.
A screenshot of pre-deployment predictive coverage heat map is provided below.
11n Migration from Microcell
A good number of Meru Networks’ deployments are a replacement of legacy microcell
networks. Many times a one-for-one rip and replace results in more APs than are needed to
provide the optimal coverage.
Remember that Meru Networks APs operate at full power thus providing more coverage per
AP. In the event that there are more drops than needed there are options. One could not place
APs at extra drops -- thus lowering cost of the solution by a significant amount -- or place APs
