Note that you could later connect an RP station to your workgroup. This
station would need the following software installed:
•Avid|DS RP
• Avid Throttle Manager (only needs to be installed on one RP station)

The following section describes each of the different software components
available in Avid|DS.

Component Function
Avid|DS This is the basic Avid|DS software (Avid|DS, Avid|DS HD, or Avid|DS HD Editor) and is
installed on a Client workstation allowing you to input and output media and to edit
the media in digital format. The Avid|DS workstation can be configured as:
•A standalone workstation, which by default is the master
•A master workstation within an Avid|DS workgroup of other workstations
•A slave workstation within an Avid|DS workgroup
Avid|DS RP This software is installed on a workstation that will handle all remote processing
requests. The Avid|DS RP station processes effects information from another slave or
master workstation within the Avid|DS workgroup and returns the results to the
workstation when completed. In a workgroup environment, you would set up the
Avid|DS RP station as the master.
Important: You cannot run Avid|DS RP and Avid|DS on the same station.
