Installing the Avid Drivers
Before installing Avid|DS 6.x, you must install the following Avid drivers on
your the IBM 6866 Z Pro system or Compaq EVO W8000 system:
•Avid Equinox Firmware
•Avid Equinox Video Subsystem Drivers
• Merging Technology VS3 run-time driver
• Wildcat driver for the 6210 Wildcat graphics board. This driver is also
used on the Wildcat 4210 board in the IBM 6866 Z Pro system.
Upgrading the Avid
Equinox Subsystem
Firmware
There are two different firmware options that you need to upgrade in the Avid
Equinox Break-Out-Box:
•Provolone
•Roquefort
After installing the firmware, you must reset the Break-Out-Box and wait for
the memory to be cleared.
To install the firmware
1. Put the Drivers CD into the CD-ROM drive.
The Main Menu displays.
2. Click Browse CD.
3. Browse to win2000\Avid\equinox\firmware.
4. Double-click on the EquinoxUtils.exe file.
The Equinox Update Utility window opens with the following two drivers
selected (they are grayed out and cannot be changed):
•Provolone
•Roquefort
5. Click the Sirius Download button.
6. When the download is complete, click OK.
7. Click Cancel to close the Equinox Update Utility window.
8. Shut down, not restart, the workstation.
9. Turn off the Avid Equinox Break-Out-Box and wait for a minimum
of 30 seconds.
Do not cancel the download or turn off the Avid Equinox Break-
Out-Box or your workstation during the few minutes it takes to
update the firmware.
