Removing and Installing the Fan
An extra fan must be installed in the Compaq W8000 system to maintain the
proper cooling of the Avid|DS board set.
Before you start to remove or install the fan, make sure the system has been
turned off properly, and the power cord is removed from the rear of the system.
To remove the fan
1. Lay the system on its right side.
2. Loosen the four thumbscrews (they do not come off).
3. Using the indented portion of the side cover, slide the side cover toward
the rear of the system.
4. Lift the side cover from the system.
5. Unplug the fan.

disk drives.
