- Using the Mainboard Software

When you first start up your system, go immediately to the Setup Utility to
configure the floppy diskette drives that you have installed. See Standard
CMOS Features on page 26 for more information.
Installing Add-on Cards
This mainboard has five 32-bit PCI (Peripheral Components Interconnect)
expansion slots, one 4xAGP slot, and one Communications and Networking
Riser (CNR) slot.
PCI Slots
PCI slots are used to
install expansion cards
that have the 32-bit
PCI interface.
4xAGP
Slot
The 4xAGP slot is used
to install a graphics
adapter that supports
the 4xAGP specifica-
tion and has a 4xAGP
edge connector.
CNR Slot
This slot is used to
insert CNR cards with
Modem and Audio
functionality.
Note: Before installing an add-on card, check the documentation for the card
carefully. If the card is not Plug and Play, you may have to manually con-
figure the card before installation.
Follow these instructions to install an add-on card:
1. Remove a blanking plate from the system case corresponding to the slot you
are going to use.
2. Install the edge connector of the
add-on card into the expansion
slot. Ensure that the edge con-
nector is correctly seated in the
slot.
3. Secure the metal bracket of the card to the system case with a screw.
Note: For some add-on cards, for example graphics adapters and network adapters,
you have to install drivers and software before you can begin using the add-on
card.
