Manual starting models ‑ Pull the starter rope slowly until you feel the
starter engage, then pull rapidly to crank the engine. Allow rope to return
slowly. Repeat until the engine starts.
IMPORTANT: Outboards with battery charging capabilities must not be
operated with battery cables disconnected from the battery. Damage to the
charging system may result.

Electric starting models ‑ Turn the ignition key to crank the engine.
Release the key when the engine starts. Do not operate the starter motor
continuously for longer than ten seconds at a time. If the engine fails to
start, wait 30 seconds and try again.
