3. Remove the vent plug and fill/drain plug, and drain the lubricant.
a - Vent plug (remove)
b - Fill/drain plug (remove)
c - Drain pan
GEARCASE LUBRICANT CAPACITY
Gearcase lubricant capacity is approximately
195 ml (6.6 fl oz).
GEARCASE LUBRICANT RECOMMENDATION
Mercury or Quicksilver Premium or High Performance Gear Lubricant.
CHECKING LUBRICANT LEVEL AND FILLING GEARCASE
1. Place the outboard in a vertical operating position.
2. Remove the vent plug from the vent hole.
3. Place the lubricant tube into the fill hole and add lubricant until it appears
at the vent hole.
a - Vent plug ‑ install after filling
b - Lubricant at vent hole
c - Fill/drain plug ‑ install after filling
IMPORTANT: Replace the sealing washers if they are damaged.
4.
Stop adding lubricant. Install the vent plug and sealing washer before
removing the lubricant tube.
5. Remove the lubricant tube and install the cleaned fill/drain plug and
sealing washer.
