The PRE-SAFE® anticipatory occupant protection system can mitigate the
consequences of accidents.
In the event of danger: PRE-SAFE® system (standard).
The system can recognise critical driving situations in
advance and activate measures to protect the occupants
if there is a risk of an accident. This includes activating
the reversible belt tensioning or the automatic closing of
open windows.
In the event of danger: PRE-SAFE® PLUS (option, part of
the optional Driving Assistance package Plus). This enhance-
ment
to the PRE-SAFE® system can activate additional
preventive measures to protect the vehicle occupants if
there is a risk of a rear end collision and the vehicle is
at a standstill. This includes warning the traffic behind by
means of the rear hazard warning lights flashing at a higher
frequency and locking the brakes if the driver indicates that
he wishes to remain stationary.
In the event of danger: BAS PLUS with Cross Traffic
Assist (option). This anticipatory system can reduce the
risk of rear end collisions and accidents at junctions. If
the system has registered a dangerous situation and the
driver activates the brakes, BAS PLUS can increase the
brake pressure appropriate to the situation, so as ideally
to avoid a collision with another vehicle or a pedestrian.
In the event of danger: PRE-SAFE® Brake (option). The
PRE-SAFE® Brake helps the driver with the traffic in front
of (both moving and stationary vehicles) and behind him/her
by reducing the danger when there is a risk of a rear end
collision. The aim of the PRE-SAFE® Brake is to draw the
attention of a driver who was unaware of the danger to
the fact there is a risk of a collision occurring. PRE-SAFE®
Brake gets the information on the vehicle’s surrounds
from the long and close-range radar sensors installed in
the vehicle.
BAS PLUS with Cross Traffic Assist assists the driver with braking when it identifies a hazard to the side as well as in front of the car.
