The wall socket is often a hidden element of the home, as it is widely deemed as unattractive.
Lamp&Socket turns this notion on its head, transforming something seemingly displeasing
to look at into something beautiful. Sustainably-produced in porcelain and now available
in a light grey hue that also matches the colour of the electrical wire, the hanging lamp
and socket is made by hand in the Netherlands, providing electricity and light above
a freestanding kitchen-table. As sockets are often placed in unfavourable places,
Lamp&Socket encourages a more flexible way of life for a variety of settings such as private
and public spaces, allowing its users – without major interventions - greater freedom of how
a room will be used, enhancing the experience for all.
About the Designer
After graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2011, Studio Lotte Douwes founded
her own design studio shortly after. Characterised by simple solutions that offer to show the
world a different perspective, Douwes designs with a big vision in mind, while also paying
particular attention to details; the latter is achieved by bringing a tactile quality into her
designs, inviting the user to engage with a product on a deeper, more profound level.
