SPEAKER CONNECTION PREPARATION FOR USE Locate the Speaker Jacks on the rear of the unit and connect the right speaker to the Right (R) Speaker jack and the left speaker to the Left (L) Speaker jack. CAUTION: Only connect the speakers which are supplied with the unit. The use of any other or additional speakers may cause damage to the unit. Never operate the unit without the speakers connected.
PREPARATION FOR USE (CONTINUED) CONNECTING AN EXTERNAL UNIT You can connect an external unit to this unit, such as a cassette player, etc. Simply connect the supplied audio cable from the AUX IN jack on this unit to the external unit's AUX OUT jack. This will allow you to broadcast the external unit's sound through this unit. When the unit is on, if an external unit is connected via the AUX IN jack, the unit will change to AUX IN mode automatically; ''AUX'' will appear in the display.

1 SETTING THE CLOCK OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1 2 3 1 While the unit is off (the clock appears in the display), press the STOP (■)/TIME SET/ POWER OFF button; the hour digit(s) will blink in the display. 4 1 2 To set the hour, press the TIME-/ TUNING/SKIP/SEARCH o button 1 to decrease and/or the TIME +/ TUNING/SKIP/SEARCH n 1 button 2 to increase the hour. Press and hold either button for rapid searching.

Press the RADIO AM/FM/ POWER ON button to select AM or FM. 4 5 1 1 2 MANUAL TUNING: Repeatedly press the TIME/TUNING/ SKIP/SEARCH o 1 or n 2 button to manually advance the frequency in the display up or down until the desired frequency appears.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) SETTING RADIO PRESETS This unit can preset 10 AM and 10 FM radio stations for convenient recall. 1 2 3 1 2 Press the RADIO AM/FM/ POWER ON button to turn the unit on; "AM" or "FM" and the frequency will appear in the display. Press the RADIO AM/FM/ POWER ON button to select AM or FM. Press the TIME/TUNING/ SKIP/SEARCH o 1 or n 2 button to select a station. 4 5 6 Press the PROGRAM/MEMORY button again to set the station in the selected memory.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) PLAYING COMPACT DISCS This unit can play standard, CD-R or CD-RW CDs. 1 2 Press the PLAY/PAUSE (®p)/ POWER ON button to turn the unit on; the display will light brightly. NOTE: If a CD disc is inserted, the CD will start playing automatically. 4 2 If the unit is in the Radio mode, press the PLAY/PAUSE (®p|)/ POWER ON button to select CD; 1 the CD indicator will appear will appear in the display. If a CD disc is inserted, the CD will start playing automatically.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) FORWARD/REVERSE SKIP TRACK AND HIGH-SPEED MUSIC SEARCH ( ) 1 2 During playback, press the TIME +/ TUNING/SKIP/SEARCH n button once to advance the player to the beginning of the next track. Press the TIME +/TUNING/SKIP/ SEARCH n button repeatedly to advance the player to highernumbered tracks. During playback, press the TIME -/ TUNING/SKIP/SEARCH o button once to move the player back to the beginning of the current track.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) REPEAT PLAYBACK ONE TRACK OR ALL TRACKS 1 3 2 3 To repeat all of the tracks on a disc continuously, press the REPEAT/CLOCK button twice while in the Play mode; “REPEAT ALL” will light in the display. All tracks on the disc will be repeated continuously. To cancel Repeat Playback, press the REPEAT/CLOCK button until “REPEAT 1” and “REPEAT ALL” indicators disappear from the display.

When the desired track number appears in the display, press the PROGRAM/MEMORY button 3 again. 6 1 2 PROGRAMMED REPEAT 1 Repeat step 5 until you have programmed up to 20 track numbers into the CD Program Memory. When the memory is full, it will stay on program 20.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) SETTING THE TIMER Set the timer to turn the unit on and off to the Tuner or CD mode at a preset time as follows: 1 2 3 1 2 1 With the power off, press the REPEAT/CLOCK button 1 and then press the STOP (■)/TIME SET/ POWER OFF button 2 within 5 seconds to enter the Timer ON setting mode; “TIMER” will appear and the hour will blink on the display. 4 1 4 2 3 4 Press the ALARM/MODE/MEM+ button to select the desired wake up function (CD or RADIO).
2 2 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) ACTIVATING THE SLEEP FUNCTION 3 Set the sleep timer as follows: 3 1 2 With the unit is on, press the SLEEP button and “OFF” and “SLEEP” will appear in the display. Press the SLEEP button again; “90” will appear in the display and the unit will turn off after 90 minutes. Press the SLEEP button a second time to set the unit to turn off after 60 minutes. Each additional press with decrease the sleep time (90, 60, 45, 30, 15, OFF).
CARE AND MAINTENANCE Caring for Compact Discs • Treat the compact disc carefully. Handle the compact disc only by its edges. Never allow your fingers to come in contact with the shiny, unprinted side of the compact disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. to the compact disc label. • Clean the compact disc periodically with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth. Never use detergents or abrasive cleaners to clean the compact disc. If necessary, use a CD cleaning kit.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Should this unit exhibit a problem, check the following before seeking service: Symptom Possible Cause Solution Noise or sound distorted on radio broadcasts. Station not tuned properly for AM or FM. AM: Unit is not positioned correctly. FM: Wire antenna is not extended. Retune the AM or FM broadcast station. Rotate unit for best reception.
