INSTALLATION AC ADAPTER CONNECTION Connect the AC adapter (included) to an AC outlet having 120V, 60Hz AC only. Plug the small end into the DC jack on the rear of the unit. CAUTION: Do not touch the AC adapter with wet hands. Fully insert the plug without exposing any part of the blade. INSTALLATION (CONTINUED) SPEAKER CONNECTION 1. The right speaker cannot be removed from the unit. The left speaker can be removed from the unit, if desired. To remove the left speaker, simply push up on the speaker as shown in figure 1. To reinsert the speaker, line up the pins as shown in figure 2 and push down until a click is hear. OPERATION TO LISTEN TO THE RADIO 1 2 2 1 2 Press the POWER button 1 to turn the unit on. Press the RADIO/BAND button 2 to select radio. Repeatedly press the RADIO/BAND button 2 to select AM or FM. 3 1 MANUAL TUNING: Repeatedly press the Tune/Skip/Search/Min n 1 or Hr o 2 button to manually advance the frequency in the display up or down until the desired frequency appears. The display will revert back to the time display after a few seconds.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) RADIO PRESETS–Up to 5 AM and 5 FM 1 2 2 1 2 3 1 1 4 2 3 Press the PROG./CH SAVE button again to set the station in the selected memory. 4 1 Select a station using the Tune/Skip/ Search/Min n 1 or Hr o 2 buttons. Press the PROG./CH SAVE button 3; the preset number will blink in the display. Within three seconds, press the MODE/CH+/ALARM SELECT button 4 until the desired memory number appears on the display. Press the POWER button 1 to turn the unit on.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO PLAY A CD 1 2 1 2 Press the POWER button 1 to turn the unit on and insert a CD as described on the previous page. Press the Play/Pause (®p)/CD button 2 to select CD; the total number of tracks and playing time will appear in the display, then playback will start automatically. If in the Stop mode, press the Play/ Pause (®p)/CD button to start playback.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO REPEATEDLY PLAY BACK ONE TRACK 1 2 1 2 2 1 Press the POWER button 1 to turn the unit on and insert a CD as described on page 9. Press the Play/Pause (®p)/CD button 2 to select CD; the total number of tracks 2 and playing time will appear in the display, then playback will start automati1 cally. Press the Tune/Skip/Search/Min n 1 or Hr o 2 button to select a track to repeat.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO PROGRAM THE MEMORY (UP TO 20 TRACKS) 1 2 1 3 2 1 3 2 Press the POWER button 1 to turn the unit on and insert a CD as described on page 9. Press the Play/Pause (®p)/CD button 2 to select CD; the total number of tracks and playing time will appear in the display, then playback will start automatically. Press the STOP (■)/CLOCK SET 1 BUTTON 3 to stop automatic playback. Press the PROG.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) RANDOM PLAYBACK 1 2 3 1 To play the tracks on the CD in a random order, while in the Stop mode, press the MODE/CH+/ALARM SELECT button once and "RAND" will appear in the display. 2 Press the PLAY/PAUSE (®p)/CD button 1. The unit will randomly play each track on the CD and then stop. If you want to randomly playback the tracks repeatedly, press the REPEAT/ALARM 1/2 SET Button 2 twice during random playback.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO SET OR RESET THE ACTUAL TIME 1 2 2 Press the Tune/Skip/Search/Min n button 1 to set the present minute and the Tune/Skip/Search/Hr o button 2 to set the present hour. Make sure to set the correct AM/PM 1 1 setting. With the power off, press the STOP (■)/CLOCK SET BUTTON; the time will blink. 1 1 3 Press the STOP (■)/CLOCK SET BUTTON and the time will be set.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO SET OR RESET THE ALARM TIME 1 2 2 2 3 1 1 With the power off, press the REPEAT/ CLOCK/ALARM SET button 1 repeatedly; the alarm time and Alarm 1 or Alarm 2 indicator will appear. Select Alarm 1 or Alarm 2, then press the STOP (■)/CLOCK SET BUTTON 2; the alarm time will blink. Press the Tune/Skip/Search/Min n button 1 to set the alarm minute and the Tune/Skip/Search/Hr o button 2 to set the alarm hour. Press the STOP (■)/CLOCK SET BUTTON 3 to confirm.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) 5 Press the ALARM 1/2 ON/OFF button to activate the alarm; the selected alarm indicator(s) will light. Make sure the volume is set as desired and, if set to Radio, make sure to tune a station. If set to CD, insert a CD before setting the alarm time. When the actual time matches the selected preset alarm time(s), the unit automatically turns on for 59 minutes and then shuts off.
OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO SHUT THE ALARM OFF 1 To shut the alarm off, press the ALARM 1/2 ON/OFF button until the selected alarm indicator(s) appears in the display and the alarm time will be reset for the next day. Press the ALARM 1/2 ON/OFF button so the alarm indicators disappear from the display to turn off the alarm and not set it for the next day.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE Caring for Compact Discs • Treat the disc carefully. Handle the disc only by its edges. Never allow your fingers to come in contact with the shiny, unprinted side of the disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. to the disc label. • Clean the disc periodically with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth. Never use detergents or abrasive cleaners to clean the disc. If necessary, use a CD cleaning kit.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE If you experience a problem with this unit, check the chart below before calling for service. SYMPTOM Unit will not turn on. Disc will not play. CAUSE AC adapter is not connected. CD compartment door not closed. Disc inserted incorrectly. Dirty or defective CD. Moisture condensation on disc. No sound. VOLUME setting is set to minimum. Defective disc. Erratic playback. Dirty or defective disc. Time reset to “12:00”. Battery connected improperly, not connected or dead. Clock not set.
