Malfunctions, causes and rectification

Why is the grinder not
grinding any beans?
Why is the Easy Cappuccino
whisk not turning?
Why is the Easy Cappuccino
so hard or impossible to fit?
Why does water sometimes
collect in the coffee grounds
container?
Why does the machine not
supply water after refilling
due to empty tank?
Why can’t I remove the
brewing unit?
Why are their slight signs
of operation on the
machine?
Why does the “Coffee
grounds container full”
display light not go out?
The bean container is set to ground coffee operation,
to a non-defined position or to the removal position and
the grinder is thus not activated. Set the bean container to
bean supply. The coffee strength display lights up and the
grinder is activated.
The whisk is not firmly connected to the steam pipe. Push
the whisk wheel into the steam pipe from below until it
snaps into place. Please make sure that you only open the
steam/hot water valve when the temperature display lights
up and the machine has heated up fully to steam
temperature.
The seal which normally sits on the Easy Cappuccino has
come off and fallen into the steam pipe. Take the seal out
and mount it on the Easy Cappuccino again.
The brewing unit is flooded with hot water during the
rinsing process. When the brewing unit is automatically
opened, a small amount of water always flows into the
coffee grounds container.
There might be air between tank and pump. The pump
tries to suck the new water, but this does not always
succeed the first time. In this case, press Start (23) again
until the pump has sucked in water.
The brewing unit is not in its normal position. Close the ser-
vice door and switch the machine on. When it displays that it
is ready for operation, switch the machine off again. The bre-
wing unit will now automatically return to its normal position.
Before leaving the factory, this machine was checked
and tested with coffee. Although the machine was cleaned
thoroughly, it is possible that small residues remain in the
machine. This machine is still brand-new.
The coffee grounds container must be removed from the
machine for at least 5 seconds. At the same time, the
machine must be switched on and the service door closed.
In addition to the statutory warranty terms,
we also provide a guarantee under the
following conditions:
1. The guarantee is for 24 months from date
of purchase. The guarantee only enters into
force when the retailer’s stamp and signature
or purchase receipt confirms date of
purchase.
2. During the guarantee period we will rectify
– at our expense – any defects of the
appliance which result from material or
fabrication errors. The warranty covers
repairing or replacing defective parts or
the appliance. The guarantee period is
not extended in the case of guarantee
implementation. Any replaced parts are
the property of the manufacturer. The
warranty does not include calculation of
freight, packing or other ancillary costs.
3. Not included in the guarantee are any
defects resulting from inappropriate hand-
ling (such as operating with the incorrect
current type or voltage) or maintenance as
well as from normal wear and tear. Damage
resulting from scaling is similarly excluded
from the guarantee (regular decalcifying –
see information in the operating instruc-
tions – is vital for smooth running of the
appliance). The guarantee does not extend
to defects which only detract to a minor
degree from the value or usability of the
appliance.
4. The guarantee is invalidated if third parties
not authorized by the manufacturer are
used or when non-original maintenance
parts are used.
5. The guarantee is only valid in the country
where the appliance was bought. In
guarantee matters, please contact either
Melitta’s Customer Service or an authorized
service dealer or stockist. Keep the filled-in
guarantee card, proof of purchase and
appliance number handy, and describe what
is not in order with the machine.
6. Unless manufacturer liability is statutorily
prescribed, further-reaching claims of
whatever kind – particularly claims for
compensation, including consequential
damage – are ruled out. This guarantee
does not affect the end user’s warranty
claims from the purchase contract/legal
relationship with the retailer.
7. The appliance is designed for home use.
Consequently, the guarantee is invalidated
if the appliance is used commercially.
