enabling of the
second
drive
on
a two-drive system

As
stated
previousLy, the
CP/M
operating
system
on
the
Distribution
Diskettes
is
configured
to
support only
one
physical
disk
drive.
Such
a system can
be
tedious
to
use
because of the necessity of
removing
and
inserting diskettes into the single drive
when
copies
of diskettes are being
made.
However,
the
CP/M
system
on
the Distribution Diskettes
can
be
patched directLy to
aLLow
the
use
of a
second
physicaL
drive
when
accessing
B:,
C:,
or
D:.
To
patch the system for
two
physicaL
disk drives, the
foLLowing
program
should
be
run:
-QDSKTWO.COM
whi
ch
patches the system in
memory,
so
that
the operating system
and
the
utiLities
will recognize a
second
drive.
Note
that the patches
performed
by
QDSKTWO
are temporary.
Formatting
diskettes
to
make
copies of the Distribution Diskettes
Before the
QINSTALL
program
is
run, a secure
backup
of the
QUARK
Distribution Diskettes
should
be
made
in
the
same
format
as
is
used
on
the Distribution Diskette.
It
is
advised
that
two
copies of
each
diskette received
be
made.
To
make
the copies,
it
is necessary
first
to format the appropriate
number
of diskettes
on
which
the copies
wi
LL
be
made.
The
uti

ity
QCERT
.COM
is
used
for
this
purpose.
When
using a
one
drive system please ensure
that
the correct
diskette
is
inserted
in
the
drive
