*These default settings are consistent with the 2005 AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and
Emergency Cardiac Care:
• CPR time = 2 minutes
• One-shock strategy, followed by CPR
• Removal of Pulse Check prompt
AUTOMATIC/
SEMIAUTOMATIC
MODEL
The Trainer can be set up to simulate a defibrillator,
automatic model (no
SHOCK button) or semiautomatic
model (
SHOCK button).
Semiautomatic
• Automatic The Trainer automatically delivers a simulated shock. The
shock button cover is stored in the storage compartment
(refer to pages 3 and 4).
• Semiautomatic The trainee must press the Trainer
SHOCK button to deliver
a simulated shock.
CPR TIME
CPR Time is the time interval allowed between Trainer
prompts to perform CPR. Seven CPR time intervals (in
seconds) are available for CPR Time 1 and CPR Time 2:
15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180.

• CPR Time 1 With Stack Shocks OFF: Occurs after every shock.
With Stack Shocks ON: Occurs after a series of
consecutive shocks (stack) and after the first NSA that
follows a shock series.
• CPR TIme 2 Occurs after all other NSA conditions.
STACK SHOCKS
Stack Shocks can be set to ON or OFF. OFF *
• ON The Trainer follows a traditional stacked shock protocol and
delivers up to three consecutive
SHOCK ADVISED, as
necessary, without interposed CPR.
• OFF Allows for an increased emphasis on CPR by prompting the
responder to provide CPR after each
SHOCK ADVISED.
PULSE CHECK
Pulse Check can be set to NEVER, AFTER EVERY NSA, AFTER
SECOND NSA
, or ALWAYS.

• NEVER Increases the time allowed for CPR by removing the prompt
to perform a pulse check after a
SHOCK ADVISED and after a
NO SHOCK ADVISED.
• AFTER EVERY
NSA
Prompts to perform a pulse check after every
NO SHOCK
ADVISED

• AFTER SECOND
NSA
Only prompts to perform a pulse check after the second
NO SHOCK ADVISED and every NO SHOCK ADVISED after that.
• ALWAYS Prompts for a pulse check to be performed after every
SHOCK ADVISED and after every NO SHOCK ADVISED
decision.
LANGUAGE OPTION
This option allows you to select the language spoken for
voice prompts. Refer to Tabl e 1 0 for available settings.
