When to Wash
Wash hands with soap & water—
• If visibly dirty or are contaminated with blood, fl uids, or proteinaceous material.
• Before eating.
• After toileting.
• When C. diffi cile or B. anthracis is suspected or confi rmed.
How to Wash
1. Wet hands with warm—not hot—water.
2. Lather with soap from wrist to fi ngertip, scrubbing at least 15 seconds.
3. Don’t miss between fi ngers, under nails, back of hands, and nail beds.
4. Rinse well in running water, low in the sink to prevent splashing.
5. Dry on a clean disposable towel and use it to turn off the faucet and open the door.
