What is Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate?
Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR) is a
measure of the passage of water vapor through
a substance.
Why is this important for incontinent pads?
Pads that allow for moisture vapor to pass
through the barrier reduces heat and moisture
build up from perspiration keeping the patient
more comfortable.
Is the pad still fluid-proof?
Yes. Moisture vapor molecules are much smaller
than water molecules. Moisture vapor can get
through, but fluid is contained in the pad.
