CONNECTING THE CABLES
Connect the external hard disk to your computer using a free USB 2.0
interface. (You can also connect the hard disk to computers to a USB 1.1
interface. The speed of transmission is then somewhat slower.)

1. Start your computer and wait until Windows
®
has been fully loaded.
2. Connect the USB connection cable to the USB input jack at the rear
of the external hard disk.
3. Connect the other end of the connection cable to a USB interface of
the computer.
4. Now connect the AC adapter to an appropriate socket that can easily
be reached. Plug the power adapter plug into the corresponding
socket in the hard disk.
5. The operating indicator (blue diode) will light up as soon as the hard
drive is connected to a source of electricity.
6. With Windows
®
ME/2000/XP the hard disk is now automatically rec-
ognised and connected.
 NOTE: Your drive has already been set up in production.
It will not be necessary to reformat or repartition it.
